Wonderful video! Away from sewing for many years, overwhelmed by new types of fabrics. This is a great way to learn about them while finding appropriate fabrics. Thank you,!
Very informative video. Thank you. I have made ponte knit pants using The Maker's Attelier Pull-on trouser pattern. It is very simple but looks so classy.
Some other Ponte patterns I have made are the StyleArc Parker Jacket and Venice Dress and the Named Kielo Dress. It is a comfortable and warm fabric to wear.
Fantastic vlog Kristen, so informative. I sewed with ponte for the first time yesterday. I made the Love Notions Metra jacket in black. It was so good to sew with, also the pattern is great, it went together well. So great to hear all of your ideas and suggestions. I think I will make the Metra jacket in a red ponte next.😀
Love Notions Duet pants are great made in ponte. The pattern also comes with a handy fitting guide. I like ponte pants for travelling, comfy and they don’t bag out at the knees or crease too much.
Thanks for this video, I learned what Ponti de Roma actually means which is interesting. It's one of my favourite knits to work with because of it's stability and it does look elevated.
Another great vlog Kristen - my favourite ponte makes are Style Arc Elle pants, Tessuti Avalon pants (my friends keep asking for more ponte pants as they love them!) and the Metra blazer which is a pretty quick and fun sew. I lengthened mine as I'm reasonably tall and I didn't want it cropped. I want to make a funnel neck top next - either the The Assembly line funnel neck top or the named Talvikki sweater. I also have multiple cardigans in Ponte made in patterns like Helens closet Blackwood cardigan so ponte is definitely a favourite of mine!
So many great ideas for Ponte knit. I have 3 of my favorite go to skirts made of Ponte knit. I was looking to make new ones. I be trying the Love Notions Sybil skirt. So many options and recommendations. Thanks for another great video. Thank you!
Your videos are always so helpful, thank you for the bumper crop of ideas! I didn't have any plans to sew with Ponte but you presented so many patterns that would be great for workwear I may have to add a Ponte blazer to my list.
Im like you, in that I have the Netra Blazer pattern all ready to sew , just got to get the right fabric then the time to do it. Looking forward to see your pontes when they arrive. Thanks for the great video ❤
Great episode as usual. I love ponte and looking forward to your new releases in 2024. I have made two pairs of the Style Arc ponte pants and love them. Thinking a dress would be good. Love your pattern choices ❤
I have Metta pull up pants and I love the comfort. Fulton jacket would be nice - looking forward to have my size published. Thank you for this video, it is July 21 and I am planning my autumn sewing. I am planning to sew a pair of straight pants and the blazer I found in Burda plus this spring. The fabric they used was piquet but I think a stable ponte would be nice.
I've been put off ponte because I imagine it to be sweaty on? Thanks for all that info Kristen, lots to choose there and the Parker ponte pants look great to try. Also the bomber jacket too. 😊
Recently I purchased the Alina Fulton sweater blazer after seeing it on a previous video of yours. My fabric for the pattern is soon to be shipped to me and I am quite excited. I know it is on your list and I hope to see the make on you! I love how you pay attention to color and I love the warm colors too.
Wow so many patterns. I have a Marlo sweater in a tencel ponte which is lovely. Used a heavier weight ponte to make the Joan trousers by FRC. Thanks Kristen 😊
This was very informative, Kristin. I’ve only sewn with ponte once. It turned me off but maybe I’ll give ponte another try. The ponte I used looked shiny in pictures and pilled easily. I made it as a TATB Freya cowl neck top.
I’ve bought ponte that is polyester and spandex that is machine dryable but I find that it pills after awhile. I like the rayon, nylon spandex blend. I’ve sewn alot of Stylearc Sage or the Parker ponte pants pattern. I love these pants out of ponte. I did sew a dress but found the ponte was so heavy in weight that it hung on me. I had to put a belt on.
A great informative vlog. Thank you. I have some ponte that looks like denim. I hope to make the style arc Parker Ponte Pants. TomKat Stitchery has done a good sew along for this pattern and great advice on how to sew it.
Wow, so many great pattern ideas, thank you. I recently sewed up 3 Deer & Doe Givre dresses in Ponte for work. I prefer my heavier stable fabric version for a smarter look. The ones I sewed in lighter, drapier fabric will also be suitable for the office though.
If you make pants out of ponte with a tighter leg will the knees bag out after time? I always look forward to your vlogs I have learned so much from you thankyou
Super vlog Kristen - I have some ponte that I’d really like to make into a dressyish poncho for evenings out instead of wearing a coat. Any patterns come to mind? I have a light (warm-feel) woven poncho that I could maybe try to draft a pattern from. X
Fabulous as always. I very professional vlog and lots of ideas. I have used Ponte before and found it "pilled". Is this because it was a low quality Ponte? To avoid this happening again is there a particular "grade" or compostion of the Ponte I should be looking for in the future please? I also found Ponte to be fantastic to sew with especially as Im a beginner. xxx.
A great vlog Kristen never considered Ponte before thought it was “old fashioned “. It would be great to go in store and feel the fabrics but how many of us in Australia have local stores apart from Spotlight. How does Ponte cope with Queensland weather?
Hi Aileen, if you go for a viscose or cotton based Ponte it will breathe much better in the warmer climates. I have lots of Queensland and WA customers buying it from my store!
Great video! So much excellent information! Thank you!
so many options presented here Kristen for sewing with ponte. Im going to start with the metra and then some sort of skirt
Wonderful video! Away from sewing for many years, overwhelmed by new types of fabrics. This is a great way to learn about them while finding appropriate fabrics. Thank you,!
You are so welcome!
Thanks for your great video Kristen.

There are surely some lovely patterns there.
Very informative video. Thank you. I have made ponte knit pants using The Maker's Attelier Pull-on trouser pattern. It is very simple but looks so classy.
Your jacket recommendations are always great. Much appreciated!
Glad you like them!
I've loved ponte fabric for years!! It's my go to fabric. I've just finished a tunic made from it. I've had it in my stack for years.
Well, I have to make something in ponte now! I haven’t sewn with it since the 70’s. Not sure why. 😊
It's lovely quality these days too Sheri!
I bought some ponte yesterday and then thought what on earth am I going to make. And here you are helping as usual. 🙏🏻
Some other Ponte patterns I have made are the StyleArc Parker Jacket and Venice Dress and the Named Kielo Dress. It is a comfortable and warm fabric to wear.

Love Notions Duet pants are great made in ponte. The pattern also comes with a handy fitting guide. I like ponte pants for travelling, comfy and they don’t bag out at the knees or crease too much.
Great tip! Thanks Hilary!
Thanks for this video, I learned what Ponti de Roma actually means which is interesting. It's one of my favourite knits to work with because of it's stability and it does look elevated.
It really does!
I learned to sew on double knit in my first sewing class ever. I was nine. The fabric back in 1974 was the heavy, no flowing kind, very easy to sew.
Thanks for sharing! That would have looked so differnet from todays Ponte!
Great video lots of fabulous ideas will start looking
Thanks so much 😊
Just what I needed!
Thanks Helena!
Thankyou for all that valuable information. What a great video so many options for us to pick from. Loved it.

The Style Arc Kristen dress is great out of Ponte. Also the Tess by Love Notions.
You are so welcome!

That's a great idea! Pattern emporium have the "With Love" poncho?

The pontes with the largest percentage of polyester tend to pill which is what the big box stores tend to sell.
Yes that is exactly what happens with poly heavy ponte! Go for a viscose or cotton based (I only sell these) because they wash and wear beautifully
Do you use a full bust adjustment?
Not usually Zelda, I’m usually a B-C cup in sewing
@@thedahliasewciety Oh okay. Thank you!🥰
I love my Tessa Sheath Dress from Love Notions mashed with the Sybil Illusion Faux Wrap Skirt from Love Notions I made in navy blue viscose ponte
They are great suggestions Helen! Thanks so much xx
