Is it just me or does this ending depict the deep ones as the good guys?

This story is a reversal to what Lovecraft was trying to get across when he wrote these stories.

-claps- this is a professional movie i hope you get to be a star and publish REAL movies of HP Lovecraft as in movie theathers. Your direction, character, dialouge is all to realistic and heart touching aswell as frightnening and every other emotion. But the part i enjoyed most was then end where the boy and his grandfather are standing at the waves its brilliant reminds me of the 1st Transformer movie though.
    Wish of Luck "Father Dagon"

Consider that Lovecraft encouraged others to add to his Mythos. Many contemporary writers, including Stephen King and Graham Masterton, have contributed stories. So, why not you, too? I've enjoyed "Shadow" and "Dark Tides" and hope to see more. They're truer than so many of the supposedly HPL-inspired movies. "Dagon" definitely is a great exception. I love the look of the animation, as it often adds to the eeriness. The musical score is very good and very effective.

Why don't we all let bugs take our brains out and put them in beakers?! Hears to reading too much into and siding with the monsters. Cheers.

My daughter also tends to humanize the old monsters in her work. It's a good thing. There's room for everyone, and those fish eyes, they grow on you! :)

@MorganScorpion Thanks, especially since I'm the one who voiced the Deep Ones (I did lower the pitch through an audio program, but everything else was done without any filters--just my throat).

Nicely done! An interesting perspective, but other than a few particulars, true enough to history that the main character of Shadow Over Innsmouth was told. Shadow Over Innsmouth was a story from the perspective of a terrified outsider (at that time, anyway). Every situation has more than one side to it. This was a pretty cool take on what might have been more the Innsmouth side of the story. Anyway, bravo! I enjoyed it.

Great job. And true to Lovecraft, if you read carefully & understand the last line of "The Shadow over Innsmouth".

I don't think this was so faithful to Lovecraft at all!

@@Jeffrey314159 Well, you see, the hero in Lovecraft's story discovers he's a deep one himself, & decides to go dive to Yhanthlei & live in wonder & glory forever (HPL's words). That sounds kind of positive to me. Look at the text again.

Sad thing is the police and the town's people act like this in real life.

Personally, I thought this was far superior to your interpretation of "The Shadow Over Innsmouth." While the latter work cannot help but compared to the original, this film is entirely original and can thus be judged purely by its own merits. Your work's voice acting, pacing, atmosphere, and, most importantly, narrative are all grade A. While some may say it goes against the Lovecraft's established mythos, I think its a creative spin on the Deep One's relationship with humanity.

@TempleToSabot Glad you like my films. However, "Dark Tides of Innsmouth" is my own original story, so it's not in any books per se, but it is a spinoff from "the Shadow Over Innsmouth" (which is available in books, and I made a film based on that story as well).

Urgh! You went and fucked up some stuff seriously there... Least of them being that Obed actualy never got shot or died! But if you look past those 'minor' mythos fuck ups its good. At least I kind of liked it.
