Great review! Excellent details about all of the different components. I bought a Cervelo Aspero 5 after seeing your Aspero review. The Madone Gen8 is on my shortlist for my next road bike.
I don't like trek as a brand but gotta admit this bike looks very good. I like this semi aero light tube shape and semi aero wheels around 40mm. This is just a style I like. I've also got a semi aero climbing bike Scott addict rc and prefer this style. But man this new madone looks really gooood. Wheels also look great and matches the frame
Thx man. I definitely agree. Although I do like aero bikes. I put Reynolds 58-62 today for my long Z2 ride and the bike looks kind of weird with deep wheels I think the 40-45 combination looks so fire 🔥 on it.
@@DennisGonzalez101 yes aero wheels match aero bikes. For those aero optimized climbing bikes like the new madone or my addict the semi aero wheels look best as they match the frame. Can't wait for your review of magene exars. Would also like to get a comparison with deep wheelset on the same frame, is it worth to compromise the looks for deeper wheels.
@@kubackjeee yes I will be working on that video exactly very soon as well as gen 6 madone vs gen 8 see which one is quicker on the flats here in Florida.
I ended up getting a OEM one for now but might upgrade later, the issue is that this bats are new for this gen 8 Madone the gen 7 mount wouldn’t fit either.
Hey man ridding on the flats is my thing. I can get the SL copy of this bike. Waiting for your full in-depth review before I cop this bike. I race on cobbles a lot and the tire clearance could help me there.
Awesome man is a super sweet bike you will love it for sure and the tire size is seen some people put on this bike is crazy so definitely a plus for you if you are riding on cobbles.
@@DennisGonzalez101 Thanks for the feedback! If I could get 35mm in there for my 5 cobbled races next year, it will be like riding 28 mm on pristine roads.
Need the aero bottles and deeper wheels, the bottle cages have great reviews from "the bicycle station" and they tested the bike was just slightly faster than s5 with bottles on the bike
Yes I watched it as well and that’s what trek claims. I will probably end up getting them. It should’ve came with my frame in still trying to figure out why it didn’t.
Thx man appreciate that. Is actually the original one from trek but I got lucky this store had one that a customer order and they were able to sell it to me because he said he didn’t need one. I had reached out to k edge and other companies and nobody makes one yet because the bike is so new and this one from trek is back order until October so I got lucky 😅.
Dennis, I just saw your comment below about the frame size. So, it is the recommended size for you, M/L. Now, do you wish you had gone one size smaller or bigger , after all this time riding?? I am curious about your choice of frame size because I am 5‘7“ tall and I currently have the Cervelo Aspero in size 51, which suits me well (apart from now wanting narrower handlebars, a longer stem- from 90mm to 100-=, and shorter cranks). I bought it after your Aspero 5 review. It's already ONE size down from 54cm that the website says I should be. I ride the Aspero 51 cm with a completely slammed stem with NO problems ever and it tfeels like I could go a couple cm further down. I am currently looking into getting the Soloist, and when I compared the geometry of size 51 Soloist vs. 51 Aspero, I was a bit concerned about the 16 mm difference in stand over height, with the Soloist being taller somehow…. my LBS who is going to build the bike from frameset up, suggested that I might get the 48 cm Soloist, and that we can offset the smaller size with a longer stem and other adjustments… At first, I thought that would be waaay too small, it's really is a tiny bike (head tube just 86 mm..) but seeing some guys almost my size--maybe an inch shorter- and riding size 48 Soloist, I am torn between size 51 and 48. I don't know if I get an enormous 130 mm stem and seatpost to maximum extension on size 48, if it's going to screw up the steering and fit of the bike (my Aspero has been professionally fitted for me and my fitter believes I am absolutely firmly in size 51 for the Soloist as well) I’m curious about your thoughts on getting a bike that is TWO sizes down from recommended. Thanks! This is Stan from KS, by the way. Oh, And also the gap between size 51 and 48 just seems a lot more extreme than, say, the difference between 56 and 54… or 58 and 56…. 48 cm Aspero/Soloist really looks like a bike for 5’3’’ guys or something. Plus, I just found out that size 51 on Cervelo’s is identical to SIZE 49 of Tarmac SL8, the geometry is literary the same for them, down to a millimiter…
Nice review thanks for it. Can you share your size and bike size as well? Suggestion from an European viewer, sharing the units in metric systems would always be appreciated :)
Haha thx for the feedback 🙏. Nice VR46 pic I’m a road racer myself. I am 6 foot tall (182cm) 160 lbs (72.5 kg) and size of frame is M/L on the new sizing trek has implemented this year which is supposed to be the same as 56.
Haha that’s nice that somebody actually notice little things like that. I use the osmo pocket 2 for that and most of the other clips. It has a gimble which means I don’t have to use electronic stabilizing and don’t crimp the image. Love that little camera for everything off the bike such a good quality with the 1 inch sensor and very easy and small to carry even while riding.
Main reason was because I got an awesome deal on this frame. I would’ve gone for any of the bikes you mentioned above no questions asked if it was the same deal. I do love the looks of this frame tho. I’ve put a lot of miles on it so far and love it.

Congratz with the new bike!
Thanks, and for watching as well. I appreciate it 🤙🏽.
An eye candy of a colourway no doubt

Wow, love the color! Congratulations on the excellent new bike!

Great video! Thx for the review! Looking at this vs Pinarello… What was the ceramic bottom bracket you mentioned?
Thank you. I’m using a ceramic speed bottom bracket. The pinarello is also a super nice bike.
Silca have a 3d printed titanium garmin mount for the madone bars, might want to look into that.

I own a 2013 Trek Madone 7.9 H2 about 14 pounds 6 oz has dura ace and sram components.
Wow that’s is super light. I think you will struggle to get any new bike even close to that weight.
Ever considered not wearing those bibs? We can clearly see how you side parked it.

I think there’s more to gain coming from a Gen 6 but if you’re on a Gen 7, this is not compelling. Enjoy the bike!
Yeah i definitely agree with that statement. The jump will be a lot smaller maybe not even worth if you already have a gen 7 IMO. Cheers 🍻.
