Hello from Sweden, I just discovered you and your YT today, I`m so inspirered by you, your style, your creative work, your way to talk to us, your creative voice. I like your videos so very much 😍THANK YOU !!!
So much here today to inform and inspire Gaynor! I really am tempted to paint my sketchbook covers. Looking at your A4 painted covers, I am sure that if you are ever lacking inspiration you can look at your covers and find something in them to spark off a painting. Your concertina book painting is beautiful - I think I am drawn to the colour palette. Have a lovely creative week ahead. 😊
Awe, how sweet! Thanks. Loved your content, so delightful to view. Just bought a Monstera 35 cm tall for about 10 pounds British! It's thriving, you inspire me every time!! Busy gel printing, but will shift soon to painting in sketchbook and canvas. Did I mention that I love the way you edit? It's very refreshing to watch for me! It gives life and interest to your videos!
Hi Kathy, So pleased to read about your Monstera, I love mine to bits and it's easy ! I'm glad you like the editing and I enjoy doing it - another creative thing I guess. Have a lovely week 🥰
Excellent ! J'apprends beaucoup moi qui aime particulièrement le mixed media et l'abstrait ! Je regarde vos vidéos avec plaisir ! God bless 😊 thank you ! Michelle in France
Another lovely video You are such a joy, such an inspiration. Loved the new covers, the book 'bands' are super cool. You are like.. living proof of consistency being key. I've recently been out of a creative routine.. at some point can you talk more about how to get BACK to creativity when you've had a few days (or weeks!) out of practice, and the thought of returning feels.. daunting..? 💛💚💙
Yes,I want to run out and paint my sketchbook covers! What inspiration and more so get into the daily creative process. Practice with intention that the key. There has to be intention to grow. You’re the Queen of all of that!
Gaynor, it just dawned on me while watching from the aerial view when your camera was turned straight down on your painting (and your gorgeous clothes) that you are not covering and protecting (from acrylic paint) that beautiful dress, sweater and belt! How do you make your art without splattering/dripping/spilling on yourself and ruining your wardrobe?!?! I gotta know how to do that!!!!
I just discovered you today and I’m in love! 💖. I’m very sure you must have a trip planned to beautiful San Diego California…visit, paint, and teach a class! 😂
Morning Di, a very lovely comment, thank you 🥰All I can say is that life is so much easier when you realise that you don't need to fit in !! Everything you need is within 😊Have a great day.
Hello Veronica, thank you for watching and taking time to comment - I particularly like the back of the flower head - will see how it goes !!! Have a lovely week 🥰
Your sketchbook cover is gorgeous! I often bind my own books and cover them with gel printed papers, and paint on them. It wasn't until this year that I painted a cover of a store bought sketchbook. It makes it so much more personal. Thank you for sharing the hockey tape trick to reinforce the binding. It definitely brought back memories of how much time my brothers spent playing ice hockey on our backyard rink!
@@gaynorpattle Instead of using paint I use any type of fibre to make art referred to here in Canada as a fibre artist. Recently I was dyeing fabric and this week the group I belong to will be playing with metal. Lots of fun and experimentation.
Thank you Gaynor I will go to a sports shop and get the tape. I will then splash my sketchbook with paint and stamps etc. I normally do but not on hard covers, it will be fun I hope. Ha!,
Hi I’m sleepless on the Wirral tonight and have found my way via piano music to your channel again, thankfully. I’m fascinated by the concertina because I’ve never really seen the point of one before. But it makes it possible to do extended landscapes doesnt it? I used to paint landscapes for the model railway fraternity, the most extreme being 24feet wide and 6 inches tall. I am going to try a concertina next. And of course paint the cover. You do inspire. X
I love your channel Gaynor. Im also a SEOS artist based in Sutton Valence. You're very inspiring and I'm very pkeased to see your channel is growing. Lovely work.
Hi there, Very lovely to hear from someone not too far away. We used to live in Sutton Valence !! Thank you for watching and taking time to leave a kind comment 🥰 I will look for you on SEOS.
Hi Gaynor, I have just bought this printer that takes craft paper. It is slower than my last printer but so far really pleased with it. Also, takes bottles of ink not cartridges. Hope this is helpful. Love your art & enthusiasm & sharing 🤗🌈🎨

Dear Artist, Just found you and what a delight. Lovely light coming in your art studio. Love your work. Wondering how you get your nails so white and clean, I'm having a problem with my nails and hands with very dry skin. Dr. Said to. Wear gloves, don't want to art with gloves. Thank You.
Thanks and welcome Judith, I use wipes with moisturising ingredients when I have finished in the Cabin, Winter is the worst time for hands drying out - hand cream in every cupboard !
Hi Gaynor 😊 Such lovely artwork and sketchbook works. I really like your concertina sketchbook piece and I think it would make a lovely long panel you could sell
Hello Rebecca, heartfelt thanks for such a lovely comment. All the sketchbook work seems to find its way into paintings at some stage ! Have a lovely week 🥰
Super! Again so helpful and creatively inspiring. Thank you for including some of the information about the products you use.The tips about composition came across so well in your example, thank you. Would ‘value’ and colour be something that you would be thinking about in terms of contrast, Gaynor? I get a bit tied up in knots with value and colour theory. Your sketchbooks look beautiful-would you also put gel mediums on hand painted cards to finish? Thank you again, I enjoy Thursdays so much! I’m now converting my dining room to a studio as you’ve imparted the confidence and joy in me to paint and draw each day x
WOW - dining room to STUDIO sounds amazing ! Think of all contrasts i.e. smooth/texture, light/dark, big/small, plain/patterned, wiggly line/straight line 😂Experiment with colour but don't over think it ! I'm wondering about a simple demo on value and colour theory? I don't use a gel medium - I will give that a go. Thank you for watching and leaving a great comment 🥰
All parts of this were very inspiring and interesting. I love your concertina as well as the sketchbook covers, although I couldn't figure out why you were concerned about them being balanced, since it's unlikely that you will be seeing them side by side. 😀
Hi, Gaynor. Re-watching the video as I just painted the cover of my first sketchbook. I have a question regarding the use of the hockey tape along the spine. Is there a reason you don't paint the spine? Would the paint crack with constant opening and closing? I guess I'm asking if there is a practical reason for the hockey tape rather than paint for the spine. Thanks, Deborah from Canada!
Hi Deborah, the main reason the hockey tape is to give strength to the spine. By the time you finish your sketchbook, you will be amazed at how much of a beating it gets !!! I find it helps enormously. Let me know how you get on XX
@@gaynorpattle Thanks very much for the speedy response. I'm lucky to have a hockey playing partner and will nip some tape from him. Can't wait to get it all glazed and protected. Thanks again. Deborah
just discovered your channel and it's very enjoyable. One suggestion that may help...don't do all those fade out/fade in effects especially when you are talking. It's totally fine to not always say everything perfectly, and I think that's part of the charm and gives you a true sense of the person whereas too much editing actually makes it feel choppy. I love your art and the way you just jumped into creating the cover of the sketchbook.
Hello and Welcome.....yes, I do love the fade in/out effect ! I cut a lot of waffle and without the fade it seems too 'cut' BUT I hear what you are saying and thank you for taking the time to comment. It is joyous when I hear from viewers who have just found my small space ! Have a great weekend
Fabulous artwork the only disappointment, wearing glasses its almost impossible to see your gorgeous journals, cards, whatever it is you are working with. Wide studio shots but its your work I really would like to see and appreciate.
