Am I the only one who likes the roll off works when I see various artists working with the gelli? Going through all the the historical vids. What a pleasure. When I am working now, I feel freer, loosen up Mary. Let it go.
I’m always so amazed to watch when you go back into a painting to rework areas. You have such good intuition. You seem to know just what the piece needs. I wonder if I will ever get there.
Delightful video Gaynor, and it's kind of like hanging out with a friend when watching. Very warm and inviting. I love your paintings and how you take us through your thought processes. I've been hooked on gel printing this past year, and when the leaves fell last fall I coated some of them with gel medium or just black acrylic paint so I could re-use them thru the winter, I stored them between waxed paper in heavy books, keeping them pressed. Such an enjoyable time watching you, thank you!
Hi Kathy, I love your method of keeping leaves and will give that a go.. It is very encouraging to me to read that you like the videos, I am very grateful and thankful 🥰
Daphne.... so pleased to see your message. You commented on an earlier video and I was unable to see it on the channel and therefore couldn't reply. Some subscribers have had a similar problem because they added a link ?? Anyway, glad to get the chance to welcome you here and thank you for such kind words of encouragement....THANK YOU 🥰
I love the dark ones and ive been looking at Soulages the bloke who painted black lines which I love. I just cant get over how you can work on so many at one time. Ive noticed my friend Tessa Newcomb from college has not changed her style. But it must be hard having a mother like Mary and in the 70's when she started out she seemed so unusual. But it does tell you that we cant try and use somebody else's style. Never works. I love the way Mary paints sheep and dogs in her own poetic style. Snow my goodness as we swelter here in the heat and storms in Queensland.
I love to see the paintings that you are going to rework. I bet a lot of artists never let on that they do this! I think when you make something you truly love it will somehow come through in the painting and others will see it too! Great video Gaynor. I learn a lot from watching you and appreciate getting to know you through TH-cam. 😊
So happy to start the new year enjoying your video with my morning coffee! Lush & dramatic, can't wait to see the progress, thanks for sharing with us. Happy New Year from Karen in the Pacific Northwest, US
Thank you Gaynor for another lovely video. It is so interesting to hear your thought processes as you work, rework and resolve areas in your paintings. I enjoy listening to your problem solving as much as watching the various physical processes that you undertake. One can look at art in a gallery and often be so mystified and curious about the how, what, why that the artist must have experienced, but we never get to see/understand the thinking behind the piece. Videos like these make the artist and the artwork truly accessible to the audience. I have been wanting to get my "art life" up and running and also so keen to start a TH-cam channel and connect more with other artists etc. But it is a scary prospect. You are SO brave and it is wonderful to see your confidence growing. I really hope to do the same one day. Thanks again for another fantastic one! PS - you could also use acetate sheets for stencils instead of lamination sheets, but I had seen on an earlier episode that you had a laminator, so thought you may just have the materials on hand. Hope they go well!
Hi Beverley, SCARY but GOOD !!! Listen for the voice that tells you, you really want to do it and GO FOR IT.... I put all my faith in the Creative Gods !!!🥰
Another wonderful video. Such an eye-feast this week. Loved how many pieces we got to see!! Some thoughts; 1. I really liked that very first painting that you didn't! Taste is a funny ol' thing 2. "Paintings as unfinished sentences" and "intuition and intention".... are you sure you're not a creative writer too... As always - great thoughts, great words, great art. 💝
A great video, thank you, so encouraging to see your thoughts. When you reworked your painting to brighten it with white did you simply paint over your finishing or had you not finished the painting. Maybe how do you finish your paintings? Thank you, love your videos.
Hi Sharon, I usually finish with a gloss or matte medium but you can paint straight over without any problem. I have a 'pop up' exhibition coming up fast and finishing is of the essence !!! So, YES, I will show how I finish. Great suggestion, thank you 😍
Hi Gaynor - always a pleasure to spend some time with you 🙂 I’m going to try some yupo paper today to make a stencil - think it’s thin enough to cut through with a craft knife, but robust enough to use multiple times 🤞
Hello. Just a bit of useless information. Your snake plants, the tall skinny ones are prolific in gardens and parks here in Durban, where they are known as Mother-in-law tongues
I justo love your frankness! Hanne schubert from Chile
Hello Hanne in Chile, thank you for watching and supporting....have a wonderful week X

Hi Tricia, I will google YUPO paper and put it on my list, thank you 🥰

@@gaynorpattle Hi again Gaynor - update - discovered mylar sheets - Amazon - actually used for stencilling apparently and cheaper than yupo paper 🙂
@@triciabennetts6578 Hi Tricia....very good to know as I'm in a trial period with amazon prime - I will browse for mylar....TY 🥰
