I'd love to win this, I really need a new phone
I haven't even posted any video since Last year coz my phone got really bad
I think it's important to remember that the OnePlus got the most 1st places while also being $300 cheaper and the only phone under $1000. This phone punches well above it's belt.

Nice to see Mediatek being competitive with a pretty decent SoC, for the longest time they've always felt like the most budget processors put in the lowest end phones.

Awesome video. Good to see that OnePlus isn't throttling that chip set as much as they were when it was first released, they have such a good cooling system (see jerryrigs teardown) so it's normal for heat to come out the front of the screen. The new chip sets across all 3 formats look great!
Vivo has bigger cooling chamber
@@leeheirbaut8154Not a USA sold phone
If a gaming phone can get hold of that dimensity chip with very good cooling, it would something else. Kudos to mediateck
I would like to see both redmagic and asus use these!!!

Been waiting for this video from you Nick
Thx Nick. Your comparison is always the best!
The oneplus getting that hot is unacceptable due to the highly improved and large copper heat pipe they claimed!
Well, it could get hotter but still scored the best on most test. I guess the big chamber did help it
That just means that it's doing the job of spreading the heat across the chassis of the phone.
I've got one and tested it out quite a bit and it's pretty simple what's going on here.
The heat spreader covers damn near the *entire* chassis on both sides. The phone itself gets hot, yet the SOC still flies because the heat is spread evenly. I was holding a warm feeling device, yet my SOC and critical components were chilled and running at full clocks.
@@nexus_aor7623or/and not being throttled?
If you look closely the OP12 actually scored high and consistent this means the heat management is more efficient.
Oneplus and Vivo have made such a comeback compared to their last outings, this generation from BBK is like the S7 Edge series/the Note20 Ultra/the S21 Ultra , damn near peak of refinement and packed with small but essential upgrades.
@@TECHQHD bro it's performance mode, ofc it overheats. Samsung has thermal assistant which can increase peak temps by 2-3 degrees. Besides, the Dimensity and 8 Gen 3 are both hot af, hope next year we get 5-10% more performance but peaks at around 40-50 degrees. Mediatek have been upping their game for a few years now, it all culminated in this year's chip. Slow and steady wins the game as they say. Same with Vivo and their dedicated ISP. Everyone laughed at their V1, saying it only overbrightened. Now their V3 chip does wonders that is close to Google.
Everytime interesting as always. Love to see more videos from you.👍
Nice vid! Wasn’t expecting the bad results in gpu on the iPhone after the presentation with resident evil.
1st comment Bro 🙂
Watching from Bangladesh 🇧🇩❤
Imagine if Oneplus let the 12 run as loose as Vivo lets the X100 Pro, letting the phone go higher in temps, it'd be a champ for sure. The temps here matter but shouldn't be used to say "oh this chip is bad and the other is good" because this is the BEST they can do, if someone wants the best of the performance they have to swallow efficiency in terms of thermals and temperatures and I commend Vivo for letting the Dimensity 9300 flex its muscles. It's just as strong as the other, if not stronger, and it's proud of it. Good job Mediatek, Dimensity chips aren't the "cheap way out" anymore.
Waiting for your battery test Nick, would love it if it happened after Xiaomi launched their flagships. Then you'll get the 2 Xiaomi flagships, Oppo Find X7 Ultra, Vivo X100 Pro and maybe the IQOO 12 as well, Oneplus 12, S24 Ultra and the 15 Pro Max. The Oneplus 12R, Oneplus 11 and the S23 Ultra could be included to see how the new ones and a more value focused phone compares. Love your vids!
Finally a sensible comment. Can’t stand when people see a high temp and automatically say oh garbage phone
We all know iPhone always will win the battery drain test .
Xiaomi 14 pro used SD 8 Gen 3 at it's max and just like Vivo X100 (and X100 pro) it also heats up a lot .
I have a question do we really need such powerful processors , I mean it's just unnecessary ( without including ray tracing) nobody uses those applications in daily life and processors like 8+ Gen 1 , SD870 , Dimensity 8100 can handle most of the games and daily life uses perfectly , so why going this far ?
Ohh and Leaks of SD 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400 shows that they have crossed 3 million in Antutu and 10k in Geekbench multi-core! ! Any remark on this.
@@sagnikchatterjee2946 The Honor Magic5 Pro won the last test though, what's your point? Even if iPhones win, I want to see how other manufacturers are doing AND how close they get to the iPhone. Helps stay informed and see how well the software/skin is optimised and how efficient the new chips are.
Yeah the Xiaomi heats up a lot, but only in benchmarks and it also hard clips at some points, Xiaomi is notorious for having awful thermal management. Having heat up messages in the camera app like bruh, fix that sh*t. So yeah Vivo is better in that regard, they let you go all the way.
More power means better longevity, your device will be able to run the same apps in the same or acceptable speeds for longer. More power is necessary for editing, for example photo editing or video editing. Your phone makes use of this power for photos, see how different year over year changes can be in cameras? That's not just because of a different ISP, that's because the processor is more powerful so as to allow the ISP to make use of it more. Think of it this way, a higher peak performance means the middle of the road performance is easily achievable and stable so cameras can use that and so can basic tasks, your phone will use less battery and generate less heat whilst providing better smoothness in tasks. Though this last point is arguable, I'd say photo and video editing are the ones which demand better performance. Most people don't need Pro Maxes or Ultras, they can do with A54s and iPhone 15s but buy just because of marketing. People who use that power will use it regardless. For example loading up external apks. Games can also start to push more in terms of graphics and stuff if CPUs and GPUs improve, Genshin, the current lovechild of every benchmarker is usually played at only 700-950p, whereas the display goes upto 1440p. So in that sense more power definitely is needed. The iPhone 15 Pros played Resident Evil Village with 30 fps and in horrendously low quality, it's playable and looks serviceable but more power is definitely needed. I use an S22 Ultra Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and I can feel its sluggishness, all phones go through it. One can argue it's done by the company using the software I'd say it's a bit of both. I like to take RAW photos and edit and feel like I could do with a lot more power, I don't even dare go start video editing because that's too much for this phone and just barely acceptable on the 8 Gen 3 I'd say. Try encoding a video using x265, you'll see even supercomputers struggle.
The main problem with all this power is the fact that most phones don't have this power and developers target the most common user so they optimise and create apps for the most amount of people. As a result apps don't get to properly utilize this power. Also, the main problem in phones isn't performance, it's thermals. The Xiaomi 13 Pro can play Genshin at 30 fps maxed out in 4K if cooled, that shows how powerful the 8 Gen 2 is and how important cooling is. Phones don't struggle to hit their peak performance once and then go back to normalcy, they struggle to hold that performance. The 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400 hitting such numbers don't excite me. A 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test stability score of 90%+ will excite me, especially if the lowest score is on par with the highest score on the 8 gen 2 at the very least.
@@kaiserfakinaway5909 You didn't include Honor so I wrote that iPhone always wins in battery drain test. Dude 90 percent of the population of Earth don't play Genshin impact .
@@sagnikchatterjee2946 yeah but a significant portion (comprised of mostly Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis) play PUBG Mobile and those games suffer huge frame drops in higher ranks. No phone can give a flawless experience. UHD is stuck at Ultra/40 fps, so yeah, phones have a lot more to go AND devs need to allow features which let us push the phones.
I always wait for your new content
Awesome review like everytime ,love to see more video from you ✅👏🏻
Sir we need a dedicated battery test of these phones. Please could you make one. One which actually is more like a real day use. Please do consider
OnePlus 12 easily lasts me 2 days
One plus has already been calculated to last the longest (at least beyond S24U/15 Pro Max).
Imagine One Plus better bench mark scores than phones that cost so much more 😂
Do not take this type of tests too seriously since in other comparisons the s24 ultra has a better score than the oneplus 12. And it is also faster in animations and loading applications, editing videos and more.
@angelshoots6836 also the One Plus 12 has an advertised massive cooling chamber and bigger battery. Yet it runs clearly hotter and drains sooner
@@Gavynn-zf5xq Nope it doesn't. TH-camrs take the temp on the screen which is wrong in the first place. You should take the temp from the backside of the phone and it runs cooler than anyone else if you do it right...know your stuff dude. You could clearly see even if he did it wrong it was better than the S4 ultra, don't cry man.
@@angelshoots6836Clearly One plus beat the Samsung here if you have a normal eye sight lol.
@saine414 nobody is crying man I didn't see this one video alone there were like 2 or 3 other videos where the OP12 even lost out to the S23 Ultra in thermals. If they took the temperature on the backside, what if all the phones are not as warm on the back( meaning results are similar ). So the tests tell tail more than the advertisements. No need to go to great lengths to to advocate for them everyone can see the results. For the advertisement and bragging they did about the cooling chamber, it isn't impressive
As always amazing video. Waiting for battery tests 🔥

Dimensity's heat could be almost justified for its power boost. One plus does strike a really good balance howerver.

The OnePlus 12 is designed to dissipate heat through the display and not the back of the phone where you're holding it.
Didn't you suppose to touch screen when using it? Me personally rarely hold phone by the back. Usually by the sides, and hot screen is the most annoying thing
Ahhhh, that makes sense. I was just wondering on another comment how that specific portion of the testing didn't corroborate with other test results where the OnePlus' battery drain was far better than it was with other phones, thought it was a bit disingenuous.
I am getting the S23 Ultra 12/256 about 90 Usd more than Oneplus 12 16/512, both brand new. Which one should I go for?? I know cameras are better on Samsung but I prioritise more on the battery life, performace during heavy gaming and tasks, and overall system stability over the years.
