The Kindle Paperwhite is an excellent device for avid readers looking for a more comfortable and customizable reading experience. The ability to control font size, warmth, and brightness makes reading easier on the eyes, especially for nighttime reading. The Paperwhite's built-in lighting system allows for comfortable reading without straining your eyes or disturbing others. The device's portability makes it easy to carry an entire library with you wherever you go.
Compared to physical books, the Paperwhite is a game changer. With a physical book, the font size and style are fixed, making it challenging for readers with visual impairments or other reading difficulties. The Paperwhite's adjustable settings cater to readers' unique preferences, ensuring an enjoyable and personalized experience. Additionally, the Kindle Paperwhite's lightweight and compact design make it easier to hold and transport than a traditional book, and with its long battery life, it won't run out of charge mid-chapter. Overall, the Kindle Paperwhite is a fantastic investment for readers looking for a more comfortable and convenient reading experience.

I'm 90% digital although I still love paper books too and have a big collection of art, design, cooking and photography books. For fiction and nonfiction reading that isn't image heavy, I either do audio or kindle. I have the PW Sign, the Scribe, the Oasis and an older Voyage in our home. The Oasis has a more ergonomic weight distribution that make it much easier and comfortable to hold. My PW is newer (a gift from my family) but the Oasis remains a favorite. I picked up the Scribe as there are times when I want the larger screen and I do read quite a bit of manga on it via kindle unlimited.

My very first kindle was the basic. My second one was the paperwhite. I’ve enjoyed reading at night without a book light. My 3rd kindle was the oasis--my all time favorite-love the page turn buttons. Lastly the scribe--the battery last a very long time. I’ve just cough up $20 to take out the ads on the paperwhite. Love having the book cover on the screen. I’m awful, I owned 4 kindles 😂.

  • @shanie7192

I've been using a Kindle for years and the Paperwhite is the best so far. We don't have ads when we unlock our screens, I set my display to show the cover of the book I am currently reading upon opening.
Personal preference I don't show the page number and percentage read at the bottom of the page, I like to be surprised so I tap it off. I also find having a cover so that I can prop it up like a little tent when reading in bed very useful.
My only issue is that I'd like to be able to delete a book from my library as I don't want it to appear in my list but I would like it to remain on record so that I am reminded not to purchase again. Currently if you delete a book you don't get a reminder that you purchased it previously.

I don't think that I will ever totally abandon physical books but as my eyes weaken with age the strain on them makes reading text on a page a bit of a struggle and limits my reading time. However this is not the case with the Kindle, especially when I can adjust the text size and makes reading for long periods of time less of a strain. The one downside to this Signature Edition is the lag when you are typing on the keyboard. I never experienced this with my 6th generation model. Although I don't make to many notations it inhibits the flow of my thoughts as I have to slow down and allow the text catch up with me, which oftentimes involves typos when it misses letters. Otherwise I have no issues with this model. You neglected to mention the storage space. I've now downloaded at least 90% of my library (including a few audiobooks) and still haven't hit the halfway point in my storage capacity. I love having a virtual library at my disposal which I can access when I'm out and need not worry about deleting any in order to keep storage space available. I recently bought a case for the Kindle which is very light and doesn't add much weight while holding it.

Tony really give it a good try; I had numerous ereaders (Nook, Kobo Glo, Kindle) before I actually really committed and once I did there’s no turning back. I actually prefer to read on my Kindle (still love the smell and feel of fresh books and gorgeous covers) but reading wise I pick Kindle, and I don’t know what fairy dust they sprinkle but I go through books a hell of a lot faster on my Kindle 🤷🏽‍♀️

My kindle white is my third kindle. I just love it. I am a semi-retired teacher and probably read a book a day.. I love that it fits in my purse , so I can take it and read it anywhere. It is light and I can change the font and light at will. The no glare when reading outside or near the pool is fabulous. What I need is someone to tell me exactly how to use it for audio book.. I thought your video was excellent, but need to know how to set up the audio and what I need to go with my kindle to make it work. I had a stroke 6 mo ago and my left eye is only partial vision, so I need it.

I'll never go completely digital. There’s just something about the smell of a book, especially a well-worn book, and holding a page between the tips of your fingers for a few seconds before you turn it. Thanks for your great review. I’ve been on the fence between a Paperwhite or the new Oasis as I now want something dedicated to only books, and your review just saved me some $ because I don’t need page buttons after being so used to the Kindle app on my phone and iPads. A screen protector and a PopSocket will suit me just fine.

for an american or for someone who speaks english natively or wants to read books in english it definitely worths buying a Kindle. The problem for the others is that (for example I am from Romania) is pretty hard to find ebooks compatible with Kindle. Here, bookstores usually sell few ebooks and those ebooks are DRM protected - which basically makes them incompatible with Kindle.
In other words, if you live in a country like mine and want to read ebooks in your own language, not in english...it will be a challenge to find those books. You can find the books you want, but pretty hard - you have to struggle for that.
It would be great if Amazon would offer for purchase books is romanian language... Other then that I really like my Kindle Paperwhite 2021 - I usually read about 20 books/year and I could say that I prefer the Kindle instead of a paper book - it is much more confortable and friendly environment.

Love my kindle, invaluable when traveling/on holiday. Still love my physical books. Generally kindle great for fiction, i don't like it for nonfiction, particularly books i want to dip in & out of, flip between sections. I know it can be done but i don't find it as easy or convenient on kindle. Personally I love the adverts. They are not intrusive, only there when i close my kindle and they alert me to special offers, new books by authors I follow and books by authors i've not read in genres i have previously purchased. Recently saved ££££s buying a series on special offer by an author i follow.

Great Review. I am a bookworm and have a Kindle Scribe 🖋️ I got for its 10.2” screen. I love it but not for portability. For travel this one is great. I would not give up physical books I just do a combination of both. I read The Bible and the catechism of the Catholic Church in physical form but read LOTR on my Kindle. I find reference books are not great on Kindle or books 📕 that you jump around a lot. You have to read books cover to cover. 8:39

    Hello. Great video.
I have switched 100% from physical books to Kindle e-books. I very rarely read a book a second time so I want to save storage space at my house. Why keep a bunch of heavy books that never get used again? Plus the pandemic really got me off my weekly trips to the library for books and I use Libby now. Plus I do have KU and there are a ton of free books from indie authors on the internet as well. Finally Amazon even keeps a list of free or super cheap e-books on their site. So yea! Digital books!!!
I do have the Paperwhite you have reviewed in this video and I love it! Battery life, warm lit screen and getting the font bigger for my aging vision are my top loves.

Just a note - the blue tooth function is disabled for Canadians ….🤷🏼‍♀️ not sure why.
So theres no Audible option for Canadians and also no price adjustment to reflect this lack of service in the Paper white e reader.
As well in Canada there is no option with this e reader to sign into libraries….. so really for Canadians, the best bang for their buck is a Kobo Clara 2E at least for the “library” option and access to more free content.

I highly suggest it. I keep my kindle in my purse as an EDC & take it on trips. I have over 100 books with me at all times & reading on it is a pleasure . Plus with constant daily reading it needs charging about every 2 weeks, less if you only read an hr a day.
Keep in mind you only need to turn on the light in low light, that will help your battery & in full day light you won't even notice the light is turned on.

@ciannacoleman5125 thank you for your recommendation. I really appreciate it. I think I will buy it soon. All those books you have, you paid for them? I heard that is also needed to pay for a subscription with Amazon to have access to good books.

I am always confused with one year review. The products just release last year so off course it is still good. The UI is good with lots of ads books in the homescreen. The last firmware release on September 2022. I'm curious with the next firmware. What I would like to see if there is any difference for this kindle since day one and now?
    btw... nice review.

It was released in 2021 the Kindle Paperwhite we have now; he’s probably just giving a review of how it’s still fairing to the competition after being 2 years old as 2 years in tech world is more like 5-10yrs 😅

I believe the only change was they added warmth light and adjustable/scheduled warm light and I’m sure they’ve done SOMETHING with the UI but it was not noticeable enough for me to notice 😅

I don't think I will ever completely not have physical books, especially when there are people in 2023 intent on taking stories and changing the characters into their own image. At least that way I can have some books that are still as they were when they were published.

I've already switched to 99% digital years ago. Buying books on kindle store is unfortunately the cheapest way to read titles in english for a foreigner with x4 weaker currency, when I'm interested in a specific genre and my own country's good writers are few and far between

    • @Celesian
      @Celesian 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Larger 6.8-inch E Ink screen.
      Warm frontlight added.
      USB-C port.
Faster performance (turning pages, opening menus, etc).
      Waterproof (IPX8 rated).
More storage: 8GB or 32GB with the Signature Edition.
Adds support for 5.0 GHz WiFi networks.
Bluetooth to connect speakers or headphones to listen to audiobooks and VoiceView.
17 frontlight LEDs instead of 4.
      Flush front screen.
Better battery life (based on Amazon’s estimates).
      Wireless charging (Signature Edition).
      Auto Brightness (Signature Edition).
      No cellular model.
This is what the paperwhite (shown in the video) has over the PW3. If you are unsure if you like ereading/you get the PW3 at a good discount/can't afford the PW 5 atm, you can still use the PW3
If you decide later on you want the PW5, depending on the country you live in Amazon may have a trade in program (to trade in the PW3) to get the current PW at a discount.
