    There are thousands of town and villages that are black only in SA. Why the fuss about one for the africaners? Jealousy? The boers in Orania bought land of sub-par quality and made it flourish, proving the usefulness of cohesive, safe and homogenous societys.

      @@Vulcaani What you said makes no sense. When the Dutch arrived they had a war with Khoi people in the cape, eventually the Khoi had to flee and join Xhosas who were in the Eastern cape. When the Europeans moved up the coasy they waged war on the Xhosa, then when they moved in land they waged war on the other Sotho Tswana tribes. Then they also moved back down to the eastern coast where they waged war with the Zulus.
      Zulus as a nation formed in the 1800s before that they were smaller scattered Nguni tribes. So it's nonsense when you say Zulus killed Khoisana. Also which Khwe people hate Zulus. You just made that up. It is the Europeans that drove the Khwe to extinction. They even put them in concentration camps in Namibia and were hunting them like game in SA.

      Dear Anna,
      well, you may be right: There is no "CRIME" in Orania untill one day when someone arrives and enslaves you, killing your child and does what he or she wants with your loved nones. He goes on further, to take away your properties and denies you every right to exist, of which you will have to fight a long battle which you may loose!
      Now, will you describe it as a "CRIME" or do you have nice WORDS to cover up these
      TRAGEDIES ??
      Again, consider that you were lucky to come out of these TROUBLES and you forgave him whilst he still keeps all your properties he stole away from you and he further proceeds moving away and starts to behave clearly as before.
      You know an African adage that Says:
      "He who is once bitten by a snake gets panic when he/she sees a millipede".
      Now the ball is in your court and I hope you will be sincere.

      You blacks are weird, you keep saying how ethnic Europeans are “evil” and yet, you wanna visit a town that’s catered to them only. Is like you want to cause havoc or something or to prove a point. I’m an Asian and I’ve no intention of visiting this town , unless I’m in that part of the region in SA travelling, but I won’t have a dream to solely go to this town like going to Rome or something. Why do you think white areas are green and clean while African towns are sandy, no trees, and ridden with rubbish. No respect for mother earth what so ever. So much for people of the land. Its just an obvious fact of the two different peoples of SA. Also Africans kill each other in droves, and since 94 more African people have been killed by their own, than all the wars of the past combined. We mostly stayed inside of the chalet we rented because it was quite hot, but from 7pm to 9pm my brother and I walked the entire town flat, watched all the houses being built and so on.
    We wen to monument hill, and saw all the greenery from up top, took a tour through the town with the bus and learnt more about the economy, population growth and history of the town as well as the formidable roleplayers and leaders who lived and or visited Orania, like Nelson Mandela, Bettie Verwoerd, Zuma and more recently the Indonesian Ambassadors.
    The town is growing rapidly, about 16% per year, with a 25% growth in industry, which is really amazing for a small town, especially in the Northern Cape of all places where even the big cities have a negative population and economic growth rate.

    The fact that an Irish tri colour is flying is very very interesting. Orania probably means 'orange' after the Dutch 'house of orange'. The 'Prince of Orange' was a Dutch Protestant. He was certainly not an Irish Roman Catholic. The Irish 'supported' the afrikaans but most certainly do not hold their religious faith. The Dutch legacy in Ireland is seen in houses with 'Dutch' gable walls. These were built to show 'loyalty' to the 'Prince of orange' after whom the 'orange river' is named. The 'house of orange' thus is remembered both in South Africa and Ireland. The 'faith' of the Dutch is a 'reformed' faith and this is neither Anglican or Roman Catholic. There are 'monuments' to the afrikaans in Ireland but the total opposite 'faiths' of each group are conveniently forgotten. I wonder why?

    • @Kangela
      @Kangela  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment George. The Irish monument in Orania is to honour the Irish volunteers, and there were quite a few of them, who fought with the Boers against the English in the Boer Wars of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

    • @georgefrazer2231
      @georgefrazer2231 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kangela That is correct. If you visit the graveyard of the Roman Catholic Cathedral in my city you will also find a 'memorial' to the 'Irish Volunteers' who fought along side the Boers. Their 'common enemy' the British. There is also a Boer War monument to the Irish Soldiers who died while fighting for the British Army, as Ireland at the time was still part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. At the Easter Uprising in Dublin in 1916, the rifles of the volunteers had the inscription on them 'remember the boers'. The 'Uprising' in Ireland was also based upon the idea of the 'blood sacrifice'. This was the idea that they were laying down their lives for Ireland. Today the orange element in Ireland is represented by the Institution of the 'orange order', an organisation based on religious principles. Many in this order are devout reformed Christians and take their faith very seriously. The 'green patriots' have a faith based on 'worship' of Ireland and the Roman Catholic Church. Those of the reformed faith in the present Republic of Ireland are a small minority who quietly 'practice their faith', just as the afrikaans still do to this day. Most reformed Christians moved North because they wanted to be free to practice their faith. In the total population of Ireland North and South they are still a minority, just as the afrikaans are a minority in the whole of South Africa.
