I'm very familiar with Orania and the ideas they stand for can't be wrong and the rest of SA can learn from it. The municipality of my local town is collapsing and services are poor. Crime is high and people are unemployed. Orania has no crime and I mean no crime. You can leave cash on your porch and it will not be stolen. And it's all base on respect for each other as there is not even police in this town. I think there's much to learn at Orania.

Afrikaaners have always been such devout Christians and it is a big part of why Orania is so successful and their kids have such good manners and habits. In our New South Africa we have done away with Apartheid but we have gone the other direction when it comes to social values, family values, modesty, honesty. Kids of all colors have no respect, shameful behavior in our schools is prevelant. Another example is, why does everything need to be open on a Sunday, for example supermarkets, stores etc. Government should close everything on a Sunday. Alcohol should be not sold on Sundays. Close all shebeens, taverns. Let Sunday be a family day. You need bread, rolls, milk etc go buy it on Saturday. Parents can get to spend the day with their children and loved ones, go to church, go visit extended families, bond with their kids instead of Slaving away 7 days a week. It all revolves around money today. Religion, compassion is dead in the New Free South Africa. The residents of Orania are not rich but their quality of life is probably a thousand times better.
These people were allowed to legally establish this town. It's not a whites only town. You should be Afrikaans speaking or fluent in Afrikaans and a Christian. The majority of Afrikaans speakers in South Africa are coloured(mixed race) people, they outnumber white Afrikaaners. A lot of coloureds are Muslim however and have a culture of their own. Anyone can apply to join the community but you must speak Afrikaans and abide by conservative Protestant Christian values.

I think we South Africans are afraid of another and are even more of afraid of acknowledging the past. South Africa has a history, at the core of that history was segregation and I think it’s unrealistic to not expect people of colour to not be worried about something like this. At the face of it, it reminds us of something that was a norm in the past. However I also acknowledge that the other side, the Afrikaner side also has their own fears and perhaps among them is the fear that they’ll lose their culture and since they are a minority that is a legitimate fear. It is important to note that just because SA became a democratic country it doesn’t necessarily mean that racist ideologies and racist people immediately disappeared these still exist but it is important to also understand that racism is not synonymous with whiteness. What bothers me about this though is that one of their reasons for living in this place is that they want to live in a crime free zone, and since the place is white only I can’t help but wonder if they somehow think that crime is synonymous with people of colour. At the end of the day what they are doing isn’t illegal and they are well within their rights to do as they please, we live in a free country but I just hope that they at least give their children an opportunity to experience other cultures and other groups of people because at some point they will step out into the “real world” and they need to be aware of other people.
The relevant question is. If SA gets into a war with one of its neighbours. Will Orania put up a regiment to protect SA. If not, what use are they to SA?

It's not a whites only town. You should be Afrikaans speaking or fluent in Afrikaans and a Christian.
The majority of Afrikaans speakers in South Africa are coloured(mixed race) people, they outnumber white Afrikaaners. A lot of coloureds are Muslim however and have a culture of their own.
Anyone can apply to join the community but you must speak Afrikaans and abide by conservative Protestant Christian values.

its a long term experiment to be observed in decades to come. its a town structure on private land and has people of colour as well. less central government is needed in SA and more local power in many areas to curb corruption and dependence on the state for everything. SA is currently below its full potential due to a terrible incompetent and corrupt government. The Western Cape is pushing hard for independence as to not fall under the blanket one size fits all government system with unbalanced democracy connected to failed communist policies of old to insulate against bad governance. on average the economy of SA is being pissed away by corruption and stupidity of greedy politicians on all sides.

What is the difference between the Oranje Afrikaaner community and the Amish community in America ? Both are living according to their religious and cultural heritage. The only difference is that in South Africa everything a minority community does is viewed as racially motivated by the illiterate.Why is there no documentary on other ethnic/ tribal groups in South Africa where exactly the same is practiced.

I think we South Africans are afraid of another and are even more of afraid of acknowledging the past. South Africa has a history, at the core of that history was segregation and I think it’s unrealistic to not expect people of colour to not be worried about something like this. At the face of it, it reminds us of something that was a norm in the past. However I also acknowledge that the other side, the Afrikaner side also has their own fears and perhaps among them is the fear that they’ll lose their culture and since they are a minority that is a legitimate fear. It is important to note that just because SA became a democratic country it doesn’t necessarily mean that racist ideologies and racist people immediately disappeared these still exist but it is important to also understand that racism is not synonymous with whiteness. What bothers me about this though is that one of their reasons for living in this place is that they want to live in a crime free zone, and since the place is white only I can’t help but wonder if they somehow think that crime is synonymous with people of colour. At the end of the day what they are doing isn’t illegal and they are well within their rights to do as they please, we live in a free country but I just hope that they at least give their children an opportunity to experience other cultures and other groups of people because at some point they will step out into the “real world” and they need to be aware of other people.
The relevant question is. If SA gets into a war with one of its neighbours. Will Orania put up a regiment to protect SA. If not, what use are they to SA?
