- I traded in my 2020 Tacoma for this 2023 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition with a TRD Off-Road package. This was a truck that was not even on my radar and I ended up driving it home! Hopefully I don't regret that decision! Let us know what you think about this half-ton truck in the comments!

Let me know what you think about this truck. Did I make a good decision or should I have been more patient before upgrading?
I’m looking to get one just cant decide which one
I like the midnight black
But I want it all blacked out
And I rather get 18 inch black wheels 20 inch doesn’t leave much meat on sidewalls
Should have been more patient ;). Sold my (2 Tundra's) and went to a F150 Tremor.
I'm teasing, enjoy the truck man, it's a good lookin' girl.
You made a great choice! I bought mine in January and no regrets.
Nice truck. Will last you a lifetime. How much was this one?
Also bought a '23 1794 TRD with 6.5 bed. I didn't see any advantage to hybrid. Extra cost, no storage and 1mpg? I managed to get 23.4mpg over 220 miles, but that is absolute best case scenario. If I start passing, running up to 90's etc it's 15mpg
I’m not a truck guy but when I saw this in person I was very impressed by the sharp looking lines and the design is phenomenal. Toyota is killing it 🔥
Someone called my black 1794 Darth Pickup 😂
I have almost the exact truck. Mine doesn’t have the I force max, and has red TRD badge on grill and a cream colored interior. Also came with catalytic converter anti theft.
Absolutely loving it. Had it ceramic coated, and added retrax pro xr cover. The mood lighting at night on the inside is super nice. This truck is a perfect mix of capability and refined design.
Was starting to having problems with my Ram Rebel (which I loved to drive) so went back to good old Toyota. Not regretting it one bit. Funny you said your wife liked it because my wife actually saw this one and steered me towards it.
I think this 1794 and TRD combo is the best Tundra package IMO.
Great video!
Good choice no no a great choice welcome to the 300 thousand mile club
🙌
Get the 2nd gen Tundra and be in the million mile club.
😂…let e’m know that when he talks about value for his money..yeah welcome to the club & oh man I just told my wife about that interior color too on my next Lexus haha 😁
I just bought the same truck. Trd 1749 with the hybrid. Like 48 hours ago. LOVE it. Well done. I’ll mention this video on my channel as I break in the truck. Nice job.
Enjoy it!
Just traded in my 2021 RAV4 for a Smokey mesquite 1794. Fully loaded including 360 panoramic camera view. I fell in love at first sight. Hope it’s 72k well spent
72k for a tundra? Really lol
Purchased 23 Platinum last year. No regrets. It was a toss up between the Plat and 1794, just found a deal I could not pass up on for the Plat. Beautiful truck you got there 👍🏻
My wife and I purchased this same truck in MGM about 6 weeks ago. No regrets. We fall back in love every time we get in the truck. Congratulations on your purchase.
I have the 1794 2024 version, non hybrid, V6 and 6.5 foot bed and absolutely love it!!❤
You will NEVER go wrong with a Toyota, I never purchased a other brand and not 1 day had any problem with them.
Nice truck,, I bought a 2023 Tundra Limited TRD Package in May and love it. I only buy Toyota and never regret it
I have owned this same truck for six months, pulling a camper from Colorado to Maine and it pulled like a champ! Love the handling, the acceleration and the safety system with all the cameras, etc. This truck rocks and it’s a Toyota. Very happy!!!
Hey if you don't mind I have a couple of questions. I'm between a Ford F150 and this truck. So you pulled the RV thru all types of terrains and elevations. What size trailer and total weight of the RV loaded. What type of gas mileage where you getting since I heard they are pretty lousy at that. Did you have any stopping issues thanks ahead of time.
Sure. I was pulling a 21 foot camper, probably about 7k lbs. lots of highway driving from Colorado to Maine. Gas mileage was about 13 mpg. The truck pulled great. Great torque. The only issue is the suspension. Felt every bump on the road. Overall, I’m extremely happy with the truck.
@DouglasMonroe Great to hear it, what trim hybrid level do you have, any lift on it.
@@Gooddog1 1794 TRD with no lift.
@DouglasMonroe I'm looking to purchase similar one
I have a 2015 Ram with the engine that switches from 8 to 4 cylinders. On the highway my best fuel economy was 21 mpg. My usual is 15 to 17 mpg.
I think every video y'all do gets better each time! Im not in the market for a truck but I enjoyed you review! Nice truck!!! Congrats! 🥳
Thank you! And thanks for watching
I got the black 2024 tundra 1794 package. Love it. Only negative is no locking rear diff but wouldnt take it rock crawling for the cost. Lol. Its gorgeous plus it's fast as hell. Traded in my sierra denali and glad. GMC have so many issues
I’m glad you did a video on the 1794 Edition with TRD Off Road package. Now I can make a choice. Thanks!
Just recently test drove a 23 1794 and the first thing I noticed is the turbo lag, which you can get used to. But I loved the interior (saddle brown) and all the features and options. After going to 6-7 different lots, the one common thing is every Toyota dealership in my area throws in thousands in add ons: $1499 Lojack, $499 tint (for 2 front windows, wtf?), $999 paint protection package, $99 wheel locks, $73 "charging bundle" (a few fricken usb cables), among a few other things. Could NOT find a dealership within 100 miles that didn't add all this bullsht.
You have to tell them that you don’t want any of it. For them to take all of that off, and off the price
I have the Iforce max no turbo lag. It is instant I guess from the electric motor
@@alexv5537 I was told those things were already installed and couldn't be removed. After fkn around with these clowns for a few weeks I ended up getting a 24 Gmc Denali Ultimate.
Got a 23 1794 with Trd off road in black with the Trd 3 inch lift love mine
This is exactly what I did! 2019 Tacoma Sport, was going to buy it out, and left with a 2023 Tundra Platinum. I LOVE IT!
Haha love it!
Just upgraded to the exact truck except I went w/o the hybrid model and picked the white interior and love it, and yes the paint is mesmerizing, great review
Jealous on interior, I had to settle on celestial silver with saddle guts. I wanted wind chill pearl white, with cream interior (I live in AZ.).
Sharp looking truck! Thanks for explaining the trim level, I was getting ready to research it. I myself am not a fan of chrome but the overall look is sweet. I currently have a Silverado but the Tundra, Silverado, and Sierra are on my research list.
I have 1794 Mesquite the color I delete the chrome they look amazing with the lift kit 2” and 35 tires
Awesome!
How do you delete the chrome? When you order direct from factory or is that aftermarket?
@@rickbancroft1944 aftermarket
@@rickbancroft1944get it wrapped
That’s the same truck I have with the exception that I got a 6.5’ bed. I love mine. I did tint the windshield and front windows
I want to do the tint as well. And I would have loved to have the 6.5ft bed
Have the black with 6.5 bed and tinted all glass !!! Love it !!!
I love this combination. Not being negative, but the one thing I don't like from most Tundras is the squat and the all terrain tires that look like all season tires. Comparing this Tundra to my Pro 4x Titan, the Tundra has the eye appeal of a 2wd for some reason. Most will know what I'm talking about, they seem to sit low in the wheel well. With that said, when it comes to aftermarket reach, owning a Titan sucks. Although, the price I paid was worth it. First thing I'd do with this package is a chrome delete. Nice truck. Congrats
Just got a 24 tundra platinum and so far im in love. I originally was looking at the Silverado Trailboss but it has halfnofnthe options that the Tundra would have. And the biggest thing is that its a Toyota. Its going to last forever!
Sold my 2016 1794 to my buddy Pablo, I don’t think he’ll ever sell it 👍🏼 Great choice
I’ve only bought Chevys in the last 30 yrs. I tried to buy a Chevrolet Traverse in 2018. Couldn’t find one!
I spent 6 months patiently looking. My old vehicle is been driving 20 yrs, bought new. I Had a Chey traverse sent to my town from 4 hrs away. It met all my specs and was to be delivered at 9am, we will call you. Nobody called. When I called them they apologized it already sold. What?
I continued on my search. Ended up at a Toyota dealer and bought a Highlander instead. Best customer service I’ve ever had on a vehicle. Love my Toyota.
Glad to hear you love it!
You found the unicorn. This model with the off road package is my dream truck
Not a unicorn...TRD is almost prevalent.
1794 with TRD Off-Road is not common to come across
It was a lucky find for sure!
@@SpicyRok7482 the 1794 with the trd Offroad package is. You can find a thousand limited trdor
Wow! Not even halfway through the video and am super impressed with the style! I usually like white exterior as well, but the blue/green sparkles in the black is spectacular!!! The 1784 emblem is really cool. But that panoramic sunroof sold me! Stargazing, cloudgazing... keep your eyes on the road, Myles! How fun! Oh, and the brown interior looks amazing with the black! So far, so good... The only thing I wondered about is how small the front blinker is, although unique! Do people see it? I hope so or they get mad.🐦 And do you like the small headlights? I have the smallest Toyota Prius they made where the headlights seem pretty big, but I can hardly see at night unless I have my brights on. Yikes! Anyway, the grill looks really cool and can't say I have ever seen chromo mirrors like that. Okay, I am going to finish the video later, but I think your unexpected choice looks great! I hope it takes you a million miles around the country! (Also, can't wait to see what travel trailer you choose in the future!)
Nice truck, well done video. We're in the process of buying the 2024 version, 1794 w/ iForce Max and the TRD off road pkg. Magnetic Gray metalic. Hope to pick it up in a few days. New subscriber now, hope to follow along and see more content on your cool new ride! Enjoy!
Had the same truck loved it no problems smooth and powerful great interior u will love it
FYI the rear windows of Toyota 4Runners go down as well and I believe old Sequoia’s too. I had a 2011 Tundra 5.7 Crew Max Limited with TRD off road package, miss that truck but now have a 2018 4Runner Limited
Great choice and definitely won’t regret it, the top of all levels of Toyota and a heavy duty truck at the same time, just keep everything to the specs and don’t be scammed by lift kits, get those KO2s or wranglers and you are ready to go.
Ive had my 2022 Tundra Limited for a year and have only had minor issues. I love the damn thing! Congrats!
I have the 2022 1794 and I love it!
I also have the 1794 in white. I love it, but this darn chrome is driving me crazy
Still loving mine!
Nice truck.
Picked up the 23 Platinum couple weeks ago.
Nice! I like the platinum grill.
Congratulations! You guys work hard day in and day out in that HOT TEXAS weather, awesome truck by the way, keep up the great work with all of the AMAZING videos y’all do 🎉❤🎉
Mine does have the storage, matter effect it’s got brackets for an AR -15 or other rifle. I don’t have the safe in the center console which is ok I have a ton of storage. Other than that mine is identical until I got a 3in lift with 35s wheels . It looks like a beast but it’s a 1794 TRD edition .
I went to buy a limited tundra but but they didn’t have the color that I wanted so they said what if we sell you a platinum for the price of a limited and they came close. I had to pay a little extra but I got a lot a lot more truck very pleased so I love my platinum 2023.
I have a 1794. Damn, wish I’d known a 1794 TRD was available. Very clean! Mine has power running boards that I like but way too much chrome on the front.
My Son just got this truck...he loves it roomy tough yet lux.
Dude It's crazy I got exactly the same truck and I had in mind the gmc as well!!
Your gonna regret not having the storage under the seat. That’s why when I had my 2022 tundra it had to be the non hybrid because the storage space is essential.
Yeah I think I will regret that too.
I agree 👍
It's a beautiful truck. Love it. Believe it or not, I'm thinking of getting a Tundra: the Limited iforce or the 1794 iforce max.
You need to get over your small regrets, you bought a truck that is bulletproof and if you decide to keep it it will last for decades.
You can’t say that about FORD!
True! I am very happy with it as I’ve had it for a few weeks now.
you won't regret it. tundra's are bullet proof and very capable. with the correct setup it will tow a fifth wheel.
2021 and older Tundras are.
The correct setup would be a 3/4 ton or better. Toyota doesn't make one.
Thats a beautiful truck. I want the same truck but with the 6.5 bed
I have the same with 6.5 bed and love it !
Lol the "handle of those items is exposed and easy to grab". . Stay ready friend....much luv
I’m seriously considering this truck but to be honest, when I rented one to try it out I was not impressed by the interior fit and finish and areas of cheap looking plastic by the door. Then add on the recent recall and it’s like damn Toyota…what happened?! Not to be a downer, and maybe I had a bit of a lemon rental, but it’s got me looking at other brands that are less expensive but seem to have better fit and finish….but their own reliability issues….maybe I’ll just wait 😕
Nice truck bro
That is the same truck i was going to buy, but it didn't come in Lunar Rock
Super nice truck!
I was initially looking at the 1794 smoked mesquite color, I wasn't crazy about all the chrome but then I saw the TRD package. Really looked nice. I guess you lose the leveling suspension though.
Depends on what you bought it for? Towing ? Driving up and down the beach? If it's for towing big mistake .. if it's used for picking up groceries some home projects or just taking a kayak down to the lake it's a good buy!! Either way the only opinion that matters is your own opinion!!! Enjoy your truck
Thanks! Why would you say it’s a mistake for towing? I’ve been hearing positive experiences with towing
@@mylesrv tow with it and see how it drives .. when your going up or down hills find out how good it breaks and experience your torque when pulling a trailer up hills.. keep an eye on your transmission temp when towing.. don't take our word for it... if your happy with how it tows that's all that matters .. also look at your payload on that truck which isn't much .. with a 7,000 lbs trailer your gonna max out your payload and your gonna feel it .. but like I said just tow with it and let us know how you like it.. every truck fits people differently
@@user-nb1xm5bu7t That is not a true statement about a 7k trailer. Watch FLT take a Capstone up the hillside on the IKE with a 10K trailer. Thanks for the try to knock the truck. FLT said it towed fantastically.
Sounds great so happy everything is working out .. God Bless
nice job and good choice I really like it but I don’t like the brown leather interior. I think gray or black leather interior would look so much better.
I have a Tundra It BARELY towed my RV Thankfully I only towed it one time (long distance) That RV caught on fire so we upgraded to a 5th wheel because we really needed more room Now looking to trade in my Tundra I don't think Toyota makes anything that will haul 5th wheels
They don’t. They don’t make 3/4 ton or 1 ton trucks unfortunately. So sorry to hear that happened to you!
I tow a 27 foot camper at 9,000 lbs and have zero issues. That’s with my ‘23 tundra so not sure why you had issues.
@studsauce7803 I have a 2015 I later found out that my truck shouldn't have been used to haul the RV I had It was pushing the weight limit Lesson learned though and I'm learning as I go
@@dawntaylor8660 what was the GVWR of the trailer? The 2015 still has a max tow of 10,000. Stay within your payload capacity on your door sticker. Get a good sway bar hitch and possible weight distribution. Bring to a CAT scale to make sure your axle weight is correct and total weight is good. As long as your not trying to tow a ridiculous trailer meant clearly for a 3/4 ton the tundra is more than capable truck. Especially the new gen in tow+ mode drives wonderful.
@@studsauce7803that’s great to know. My wife and I are about to purchase a travel trailer and have this same truck as well. Now we know more about what we can buy.
I’ve seen a couple of these definitely a rare package.
Only thing I’d regret is the price tag and payload capacity. Only real drawbacks
I'm come to Nashville on 15 Feb. From Germany and interested in talking to you about a 2024 Tundra platinum or 1794.
What a nice truck dude. That is really sharp. You won't be disappointed unless you want to tow. IDK what Falken did to get their piece of shit tires on all OEM pickups. The brown leather is gorgeous - I have it on Ram 2500 Limited Longhorn.
You were going to point out something about the TRD PRO trim that is different from this model. Did I miss it?
I am hesitating between this or a Ram. What are your thoughts on this?
This iteration of the Tundra is ulgy [sic] but I'm wondering how long the V6 twin turbo will last.
Nice and great choice ! If you don’t mind us asking, what was your bottom line in dollars and scents ? Lol 😂
I want to like this video but I can’t. I bought the exact same truck in Grapevine sans the hybrid but your choice of dealer got me. I have a few stories (2 first hand) about Toyota of Richardson and they are thieves while their service department is incompetent.
Really nice truck!
Congrats,, super nice truck ..!! Thinking about getting a ‘24- 1794 model same truck in army green and same brown interior ..
They don’t offer army green in ‘24 for this trim….
I’ve really enjoyed my 1794 trd tundra
Glad you’ve enjoyed it!
@@mylesrv I’ve owned for a month
Thanks for the video. You have a very nice truck. I have the same truck but in WINDSHIELD pearl 1794 TRD 4 x 4. I love it.
Nice truck brother. What was the sticker price?
I have an 820 credit score. My local dealer here in NJ wants a $3999 market adjustment and 8.45% rate for this exact model. FUUUUUCK that.
Yeah that’s crazy. This currently market and economy sucks.
I thought the TRD would get you the blackout trim and grill???
Man you just setting it off with that scenery in the background.. Very nice truck..
Beautiful truck you got there . Why can Toyota make some trucks with the round oval fog lights ? I think it look much sharper .
1794 is made in Mexico, not Texas. on the site of old famous 1794 Ranch.
I think you made a good decision.
I love your truck..I have the navy blue 2023 Silverado ltz...but I've had a Tundra before so I k own you're I. Heaven driving that truck🙏💯
$70K is a lot of money for a truck that doesn't have automatic floor boards!!! That's over 1K a month, na i'll pass!!!
TRD pkg. cancels that option
You will love the truck.
Best truck I've ever owned
Ummm... Maximum Trailering Capacity (lbs): 11050 ??? A Half Ton ??? About 5,000 undersized for an RV man.
Color might be ford tuxedo black
The TRD Pro is 2 trims BELOW this model, not above.
Exactly. Love the suspension on the pro, but interior is way more plasticky. I do like the grill on pro, but that can be bought separately.
I didn't regret mine until I had to buy a tag . Lol
I’ve been thinking of getting an f150 king ranch but knowing how shit the quality is on them I think ima get one of these even though I like the king ranch interior quite a bit more, but I figured if I’m gonna spend 80k it should be something that’s well worth it and is reliable.
Wanting to get this truck because I mean… it’s Toyota. And beautiful. HOWEVER I want to tow an airstream about 8-10,000 pounds in the next year. Is this capable enough?
Or should I go with the 3.5 ecoboost hybrid that’s a boss at towing? Only need to get to 1,700 rpm’s to hit the max torque…. Can this do that??
Great looking truck, are you sure about the engine hp and torque? I thought the hybrid was more torque
100%
Can you get a HUD display on the 1794?
Not that I know of. I think it is only on the capstone trim
Yes, it is an option.
Hey Congrats My opinion is towing anything more than landscape trailer I go with something else especially with that twin turbo I believe new for the 2023. That GMC 6.6 gas is sweet and capable.
What you think if I were to get this and an 8000#+- airstream with it about 28-30 ft.? Think this could handle it or should I go with the less reliable ford eco boost hybrid that’s an absolute boss for towing?
ALMOST got one because I own a new Corolla hatchback. Opted for the 24 Sierra 2500 instead. They’re so much more purpose built.
Interior is nice, big usable bed, perfect dimensions, and that V8 growl sounds like heaven!
I like the simplicity of a N.A. engine vs turbos and hybrid batteries.
PS if ur in the market for a small daily gas saver get a Corolla hatchback lol. I LOVE mine as much as my truck.
Do you still like the truck. Would u buy it again
I have a 2021 Toyota tundra platinum with 11k miles. still looks, drives,, and smells new. I will not own another Toyota as long as that weak sister 6 is in there.
More hp and torque on the new one
if and when it runs. their new motors suck. my tundra outruns them.@@mrsandman1274
Awesome truck. Absolutely beautiful. Black all the chrome out and it would be sexy as hell. Murder that thing out. Also that’s my favorite interior. Just a BADASS truck. Great choice.
You can get the step electric with tailgate.
Not with TRD pkg.
Did you try to reset your MPG from the screen's vehicle icon to see a current gas mileage?
I have a 2015 Tacoma I’m thinking about getting a new tundra good video.
Beautiful truck congratulation brother welcome to the Tundra family 👍
Beautiful truck!
Is this an everyday driver or do you plan to pull a travel trailer or 5th wheel? If so, whats the exact make and model of what you plan to pull? thanks for posting this video.
This is our everyday driver to go film at RV dealerships with a generator in the bed of the truck. This truck is not capable of pulling a fifth wheel, but we may use it in the future to pull a travel trailer.
@@mylesrva very tiny travel trailer😢😢
This exact truck is in my radar
Does it give you good gas mileage?
Thought all Texans carried a spare belt buckle in the safe
I’m not THAT Texan 😅
Nice video…but I gotta stop watching this..😂.. I have the “old school” V8 Tundra 1794.. been a great truck so far, I’m keeping it till the wheels fall off! 🥰 subscribed 👍
