  • What's up guy, today I'm going to show you how to map a sketch onto a curve surface in freecad. You will need to have the curve workbench installed into freecad or more information check out my first video on the subject. Everything you need to know will be cover in that video so right after you can start working on your own project, good luck :)

Why don't I have the Curves Workbench? It's the same 0.19 version I'm using and I have just installed it this June 2022.

Thank you. I've installed it. Right now the current challenge is the "Failed to get the face support of the sketch" error message, despite following the steps to the letter. I've fixed the SVG file and all, but the error is persistent. I'm stuck at 4:29.

Huh, Try adding a square in the "Mapped_Sketch001" through the sketch workbench and see if it projects. if it does it's the SVG file that's the problem. so I suggest trying another SVG file. if the square doesn't project tell me and there are a couple things you can try.

@@TabletopRobotics You mean the square as a Construction line? I already did to make sure it selects the image. I even changed the sizes to see if it has something to do with it. It's just persistent. I will try to create a new surface to work on, I'm not really sure where exactly the error is. I'll also try your suggestion above and will try other (non-construction) normal shapes like circles and other polygons to see if extrudes or not.

If I try to add a simple shape using this method I can get it to "extrude" out but when I want to have go inward like a pocket it just does nothing. Am I doing something wrong? Like if I make thickness a negative number. It doesn't give me an error message it just simple doesn't do anything looks flat to the surface.
