Merci infiniment pour ce tutoriel ! J'utilisais SolidWorks & Fusion 360, j'apprends FeeCad et je pense que ce logiciel est au Top pour ce que je fais. Brilliant video I've learnt a lot and its give me a lot of ideas !!! Thanks for your hard work putting these together... Hope you enjoyed the coffee I bought you last week !!
Thank you for your support and glad you enjoyed the video. I always enjoy making things in freecad so plenty of more to come. Have to thank you for the donation, really appreciated. There is a wealth of good in the curves workbench that are worth a look.
@@ojkolsrud1 hi haven't seen this error but just been doing some research. What version of freecad are you running? Are you on 0.19? There has been reports that if you have the old Assembly2 workbench installed it can cause issues with the download manager in 0.19. Also if your running on v0. 18, github where the add ons are hosted have decided to change their infrastructure a number of times which means freecad developers have to back fix the issues that it causes. Freecad are recommending upgrading to 0.19 if your still running on. 28
@@MangoJellySolutions Yep, that was the reason. I had 0.18 and Assembly2 installed. After downloading the latest appimage (0.19) everything works as it should. Thanks!
Hey! I love your video, and I accidentally stumbled upon and easier way to add the celtic design to the ring. 1. turn it into svg 2. import it into freecad. and remove everything you do not want 3. highlight all the parts of the pattern that you did not delete. and export it as an svg into inkscape 4. align it to the corner using the tool bar at the top of inscape. do any scaling you need in inkscape and save it as an svg one last time. 5 import into free cad. and holy monkey snot batman when you go into the sketch on surface work bench. everything is aligned!!! I hope this helps you and others as it was a total accident that I discovered this.
Thank you for adding these detailed steps to the comments, I always welcome this as it really helps the community. Thank you so much for sharing. Glad your enjoying the videos.
Thank you for the video. I really liked it. Would you consider making another, but without the pattern? I had to watch several times, and even watch someone else's video before I got the hang of it. I think a simplified version would be popular and could link to this one as an 'advanced' version. In any case, thanks again.
Thanks for the comments, yes I should of kept it simple, I did do another version a little while ago which may be basically what you are look for (which I should of released first) th-cam.com/video/MElxwCj0svA/w-d-xo.html
Are you referring to the external objects on the sketch on surface property on the data view. If so, funny you should say that as I have just finished a video regarding lattice2 and this option for a workflow I suggested for a viewer who wanted to trace a pattern around a object. I will be adding that video to patreon in the next few minutes :)
Your videos are incredible. You are using ubuntu, right? I tried to use freecad on ubuntu but whenever I click on new it restarts. Returning to windows. Congratulations on the tutorials.
Ahh Thanks, glad your enjoying. Yes I am using Ubuntu and some of the videos are in windows. I have never heard of the app restarting like that. I am using the app image.
Is there a way to map a 3D object onto surface like that? Say, instead embossing a flat picture of the knotwork, to make actual knotwork model with strands curving over and under each other - and then take that and wrap it into decoration on the surface of the wristband?
I have used this method to create a shape for a design but am running into an issue I was hoping someone could help with . I created a pad that is a simple circle with a square notch cut from it. I then created a wall coming up from the pad that ends perfectly with the square notch. when I try and change the shape of the wall this method does that but the end of the sketch on the curve where it meets the square cutout the line from the sketch it at an angle that is 90 degrees from the circular wall not the square cutout. I want it to meet the square edge at a perfect 90 so I can use it as a gentle ramp.
don't know if it's a mac thing or not but when I changed the number of repeats in the array then tabbed out of the number box it auto updated I did not need to go edit>refresh when I try to map (around the 29.52 mark) the pattern to the surface I get millions of green lines radiating out from the pattern and the sketch says Under-constrained sketch with 6240 degrees of freedom - pretty sure that's not meant to happen. LOL
well it finally kind of worked, except when I take the surface sketch away from the cut it's not very deep. I even tried making the sketch thickness 6mm and the offset -3 so might have to open the ring model and start again from there.
OK I still get all the green lines when I convert the array to a sketch (thinking it might be a graphics card issue) but it worked this time. I got the deep cut. yeah me!!
every time I try to put a sketch on a face I get the same error even when I do it exactly like you the console says: 'Sketcher.SketchObject' object has no attribute 'AttachmentSupport any ideas?
hello. How can I block your channel from appearing in my TH-cam search results? I find it terrible. I have chosen to block you from your profile, hide user, but youtube insists on showing you in my search!

I’m wondering, since you have a newer laptop you could use the more direct mapping without the laptop crashing.

It can't map a sketch on multiple surfaces created by a sweep operation. The sketch has to be subdivided & booleaned many times.
