Very much appreciated all of these videos. I am hoping to contribute here so I would say that race track packs will last more than 10 laps unless you are extremely hard on them. I regularly go through 6 days of 6 sessions each on my Ferodo 3.12G.s, 2 completely agree with picking a safe track course where the only risk is likely the paddock area where you start/finish, 3) clearing out the vehicle, especially the driver area is a requirement for most of the groups I have gone with, as are tow hooks, but my one other disagreement is tire pressure - premature tire failure can occur if you are not monitoring the temp/pressure. Lost my last session on a weekend because I was not paying attention and one tire started to delaminate. Entirely on me.
Well put together Sir. As a fellow Boxster owner (986 Anniversary) it's great to see it out there and not in a garage! Good information about the IMS bearing, I'll check that out! One further comment I'd say about is fuel load.....it's really embarrassing to run out of fuel on a track day and you wouldn't believe the number of people who do! Regular checks of the fuel gauge is strongly recommended as fuel burn can be high, if you're "on it". My Boxster drops to 6 mpg at Donnington/Silverstone so two laps and you're done!
Great channel and really useful info man :) First track day in my Z4 Coupe back in March and loved it, will be better informed next time after watching this!
Oh that’s amazing information! Am a bit confused with the buck in system. So many options and am not sure which would be best for first time . What’s the difference between National circuit, full circuit and gran turismo???
Would a more race oriented brake pad have any disadvantage on the road when compared to a standart one? Squeals? Maybe works it works better at higher temperatures?... Anyway, great video, helped a lot!
A race pad still works after multiple hard stops I.e higher temps so unlikely to be any better than a road pad on a normal public road. Race pads do tend to squeak on the roads but the Bluestuff pads do not.
ive got EBC yellow stuff pads. with braided lines, good on the road and decent on the track. when the pads are cold however theyre slightly less responsive on the road, after 2 or 3 brakes at junctions. theyre fine however. but if you know that when driving you brake earlier to compensate for it in the first 5 minutes of a commute
Thanks for the important advice. I'll be able to drive in ~3.5 years and I'm already saving up for a 2020 Mustang GT Premium for probably ~$40,000. I've already started saving up, and I have capital since I'm about to invest in the stock market. Definitely going to put these words into mind.
Inspiration _ no offence but the likelihood of you making $40,000 from a small amount of money is low mate. Set your horizons lower no one starts out with a $40,000 car. Good luck.
even if you can afford a mustang GT 5.0 as youre first vehicle it would not be ideal. theyre not crazy powerful vehicle but theyre no joke either. its not the vehicle but the driver. improve your skill before your vehicle. 50k vehicle with $800 skills will result in disaster
Yes in most situations but I wouldn't risk it, you could be the Formula 1 champion but if the guy in front drops 2 gallons of oil you are going into the wall no matter what.
go to motorsportsreg.com start with car control clinic, there you will have instructor who will be happy to answer your questions, and give you the basics of high performance driving, before you ever set tire to racetrack.
Vid is 4 years old and has been more helpful than any current videos I have seen by far.
Got my first track day in my Mazda6 diesel on Saturday, and it will probs be my only track day. Thank you so much for your advice.
Glad it helped!

Is it legal to not have race insurance
Yes in most situations but I wouldn't risk it, you could be the Formula 1 champion but if the guy in front drops 2 gallons of oil you are going into the wall no matter what.
