Dacia Duster is a pretty capable off-roader. Our (Croatia) Mountain Rescue Service uses them because they can get half a dozen for the price of one Mercedes G class. Heck, you can almost get a used _helicopter_ for the price of G-Wagen.
LOL .... I'm a big Tesla supporter but that was hilarious ... to be fair, he does explain it later ... props for the fun ... no way i would taken a brand new car into the woods
The blinged-out G wagens that you've seen in the last several years are not necessarily a representative slice of a vehicle that's existed globally for nearly 50 years.
I'm loving the dynamic between you and Kyle. Kyle is like the overly excited ideas guy with no limits and you're the restraint to keep him in check. More of this duo!
Having ripped the bumper off of a Mercedes E Class parking in a field for a soccer game this is a completely valid real-world test. I’ve owned multiple Porsche GT products and never owned a Tesla so I’m no Tesla acolyte, and the breadth of performance and practicality in this thing is really impressive.
I appreciate your vocabulary and shows you either read now or read a ton before… also your success can be partly attributed to this fact as well. Cheers! Also… as a recent MYP owner, it’s a must try, it’s an incredible machine
I Wonder how it would do adding 2-3" lift kit and 17 inch wheels with aggressive all terrain tires. Adding some fender flares and little wider tires, I know it would reduce the range but it would look hell of a lot cooler!
Offroading this car in its current state is like taking a Subaru Outback off road. Both are nearly the same ground clearance specwise. You won't get too far in true offroading until and unless, like Brian mentioned, it's lifted.
Most people never do any driving that would exceed what a Subaru Outback or the Model Y can do. They want to be able to take the dirt roads to the nice campsite or the cabin by the lake, not head off into true wilderness. Just like most people never drive on a track. Think of it like percentages where a utility vehicle is 100, a real SUV is 50-75, a crossover is 25, and your average sedan is 10-15 on the scale of ability to really off road. If you want to seriously off road in a Tesla, wait just a bit longer, the Cybertruck is coming for you with 16 inches of clearance, loads of power, and you can bet it will also have an off road setting.
@@sunilsidhwani4757 , it is a different look, I feel like I would need to invest in a bunch of tattoos so I would match the vibe if I buy one. I like how it looks, but I see why other people don't.
This looked so much fun. I can't wait for the transformation. Consider in the future doing a chassis rigidity test where you would have the Model Y in a chassis flex situation (1-2 wheel off the ground) and then open a door. If the door sticks then the chassis is subpar, but if it opens easily then Tesla engineers did their job well. Thank you.
I'd like to see a 3-4" lift with some big mudder tires on 18" rims. Then you can say you officially have done some off-roading in your new Telsa model Y!
Interesting video. I ordered a Model Y a year ago and switched to a Model 3 to get it earlier. I don't have a family so I don't need the storage space, I'd like the seat riser, but I don't like the higher price or that, especially compared with the Model 3, it looks like a puffed out Prius. And my St. Bernard would not like the higher entrance to the car since he's getting older. So I'll stick with my slick-looking Model 3, especially because I also have Jeep GC with the Off Road 2 package. (I do get to spin wheels while climbing rocks. :))
You’ve got a viewer for life if you’re going to make this “more off road”. Super interested to see what you do with wheels, tires, and lift. I’m hoping to replace my lifted FJ Cruiser within the year with a Model Y. I’m too used to being able to go absolutely anywhere here in Colorado, so making the jump to an EV means retaining most of that off road capability.
Hi Brian, you're the only one who takes the Y out on hard testing tours!! Congratulations, you do well and I think you get the most clicks of all Y presenters! Really great, thanks for the video. Dankeschön für das Video. 👍👍👍🇺🇸🚐🇺🇸😷😷😷 #stayathome
According to official Model Y Warranty as of Jan 2020 the warranty is void if driven .." over uneven, rough, damaged or hazardous surfaces, including but not limited to, curbs, potholes, UNFINISHED ROADS, debris, or other obstacles..." So what good besides family grocery hauling is this so-called SUV? And why does it have an "off road" mode?
This is amazing. I’d like to see the car know that a wheel is at full droop and spinning and lock the wheel with the brake, but I’ll take it! Cannot wait to see the lift kit! 3”? 4”? 265’s? Makes me want my Cybertruck so much more now! Definitely hit that subscribe button, Thank you for this content!
Thank you for the video. I will order one Y only when Testa will have an optional pneumatic suspension for it! Meanwhile I will continue saving for an I-Pace...
Found your site as I'm looking at getting a Model Y also. Just sub to your channel. Looking forward to more modifications to your Y, making it off road worthy. I don't plan to do any hardcore but enough to overland in with easy to medium off road capability with mine, once I get get it.
Still more than most would ever attempt. I think that’s a fair evaluation. People might head down a heavy drifted driveway or unpacked or unpaved park road.
Man this is awsome!!! Remember when you first got your LIC and said...let's see what my car can do...great vkd..no it's not an 87 jeep with Dana 80s and 54" tires, it's a stock EV and you had the great American GUTS to be like..hold my beer.
Lol. Well that's worth a 'like'. I can't believe you did that. I'm so worried to see you remove the rear bumper cover (like DirtyTesla) and see all the dirt and mud trapped in the aero shield. Brian.. you so crazy👊😆
I would love to see 0 to 60 and range after the Lyft. one of the most important aspects of a lift isn't how it operates off-road of course that's important But can it be a functional Tesla90% of the time on the roads and driving to work and back and then fun on the weekends when you're going a little off road for those camping trips
One of the few dudes who will sacrifice his pricey asset to give us viewers great reviews. Definitely thumbs up!
My name is Joe and I'm a recovering Tesla hater. I placed my order and my loan is approved. Thanks Brian, it been a long painful journey to recovery.
How did you do that? Turning yourself to a good guy
Rotflol
LMAO
Welcome Joe
Please jack this thing up and put huge tires on it. Always wanted to know how a Tesla would respond to such modifications.
I'll let you know...sincerely, a tesla model Y owner that was way used to a TRUCK....
theclassiclady12 thanks. Can’t wait to see it!
Frohman I don’t think it can happen because of the motors and battery
I now agree with Frohman because the mechanic laughed...
When this guy said he was going to be putting out a ton of MY content, he wasn’t joking. Love it. Looking forward to some more.
I don’t have an ordered Tesla, I don’t even have the money for a Dacia Sandero, but here I am
Why Sandero ?
I totally understand... I don't have one on order nor need one also... I think the model Y is so amazing also... How do you use your vehicle?
Dacia Duster is a pretty capable off-roader. Our (Croatia) Mountain Rescue Service uses them because they can get half a dozen for the price of one Mercedes G class. Heck, you can almost get a used _helicopter_ for the price of G-Wagen.

Gollum driving a Tesla: my precious
This Tesla has now seen more "off-road" miles than all G Wagons combined.
You wrong in Russia they butcher G Wagons on daily basis.
therre is gwagon with gas engines for succer moms and there is also the gwagen professional with a diesel engine which is a baby unimog.
I bet this is more capable than any 4-door, long-bed, dually brodozer with a twelve inch lift rollin on twenty-sixes.

There’s no ground clearance lol
no suspension or shocks
look at mercedes magic body control
It is really meant for helping if you are stuck, not really off roading. Which he explains. Lol
OMG!!! Cue dramatic music!! The model Y drove through a muddy puddle!!! Wow....
I'm loving the dynamic between you and Kyle. Kyle is like the overly excited ideas guy with no limits and you're the restraint to keep him in check. More of this duo!
0:06 the god of off-roaders, the Smart, also made it. Literally every car could.

I asked for it, you promised and delivered! Thanks!
Tesla and Smart Off road :)
Great work, best regards from Serbia!!
Glad you are actually using your car!
Gonna have to start calling him B-roll-skills Brian with all this quality content!
Great job cranking out these innovative model y videos! Keep them coming! You are definitely the top you tuber covering the model y right now
Dude you got some balls man. Im getting ready for my tesla. Im glad you did it.
killing it with the model y videos..I liked the disclaimer :) Now I gotta plan two trips up to NCCAR..one with the tesla and one with the tacoma

The AWD is really good! If this had better clearance and tires, it would be an offroading beast!
Can always get it lifted.
This is the best model y channel
Just laughed harder than I should at that music. 🤣 Impressive. Love the volume of content you are cranking out! 👍😷👌

Really cool! A great demonstration of Ys ability to "Off Road", Love it! WOW
I love the dirty Tesla channel!
Come on, guys, I saw Kyle's _Smart_ in the background! What kind of off-roading is that? :o)

awesome intro, love the recent content! well done guys, stay safe
You guys are a very good team..the shots are fantastic.. that's the adventure of exploring the Y
Yeah, but what about the ultimate off-roader in the back? the almighty Smart!

Amazing video! I’m so impressed by model Y
Me too!
Awesome 👏 off roading Tesla Y is doing pretty good. Man you have so many camera 🎥 mans lucky 🍀 you
You are brave or nuts. When I get my Y, the only off-road is going to see is my driveway. 😁

My 1992 Toyota Tercel can do that! But seriously time for an off-road build, Brian. I want to rally this thing across the Sahara!
dood luck mate, the desert is for tough vehicles not computers on wheels
You should’ve tried the off road assist on the Tesla or slip start. They are the pretty cool features on the model y when I drive it off road.
It would be amazing to see you add a lift kit and offroad knobbies on this bad boy!

Really loving The crosshang 2wheeling part at 7:00 .. :)
Love it! You're doing this right by being the first Model Y owner to really put the car out there for us to all see! Cybertruck is next, right????
Esto es justo lo que quería ver, sé que no es un todoterreno pero quiero ver su desempeño en terreno Off Road 😃 muchas gracias por el aporte!!
Conclusion: By the same standards the Smart is a great off-roader! RoTFL
You are so brave putting your car in such muddy scenary.
With specific tyres it could go even better

Thank you for the video. I will order one Y only when Testa will have an optional pneumatic suspension for it! Meanwhile I will continue saving for an I-Pace...
Added underbody (battery and motor) shielding will likely be wise for more serious offroading.
This is Y i prefer the 19in Gemini wheels. A lil more sidewall

The model Y really need a air suspensions right off the bat similar to the Jaguar I-Pace the it will be perfect electric crossover 👍. Tank turn 🙉
Tank turn is stupid in practice

"Elon-gates the first half of the throttle"
First rapid-gate, then cold-gate, now Elon-gate
So, it limits the torque and perhaps applies a bit of brake to the free-spinning wheel, in lieu of a limited-slip differential?
Yes
Love it ❤️❤️❤️
Nice
Very nice

Those P ZEROs are literally the worst tire for that. So I'm surprised it did so well.
That looked like fun! Hope you have a good pressure washer though lol
