Is there any improvement in sound if you take the DMP-A6 Master Edition with better clock instead of the DMP-A6 Standard version, connected via USB to a Denafrips Venus? Thank you
Would love to see a video on the Eversolo configuration for use with with Pontus II. Settings like EOS, external DAC setting and others that affect the Pontus II input LEDs, i.e. 41.1/48 and the multipliers.
Maybe I missed it but is this with or without the linear power supply? Does the linear power supply has any advantage when only used as a transport? Thanks 😊
As a transport only, is the Eversolo good enough to pair with the Denafrips Venus 12th, Terminator 12th and above to realize their potential? Or would the Eversolo be a weak link? Assume speakers and amps would be quality and price appropriate to the particular Denafrips dac. Thank you.
Hi John, that's a valid point! I would say it is a good one. But are there better streamers on the market (at a higher price), sure. It really depends on your budget, needs, and perhaps, wants?
In my experience LPS-A6 brings the A6 into another level, like Mr. Hyde originally and Dr Jekyll now with the LPS, still the DAC and internal preamp with OpAmps tends to keep it from the absolute best sound. As a streamer only with LPS was an absolute surprise! A heavy hitter. Very close to Innuos Zenith, a little different on tone density, particular space cues, but of course that’s a way over $5.000 US and no internal DAC, no preamp. You draw your own conclusions. Comes very close
Hi Alvin, great review.... i have the Pontus2 dac. Does it make sense to het the dmp-a6 master edition? Or just the standard model will do if paired with my pontus2? Appreciate your thoughts on this... thanks
Anyone have opinions on the Eversolo DMP-A6 versus a Lumin U1 mini into my Denafrips Pontus II DAC? The DMP-A6 sounds amazing with the Pontus II as it is, but have been curious about Lumin and if it would provide any sonic improvements. Thoughts?
Just to agree with the main thrust of the video. When used as a digital transport into an external DAC such as the Pontus 12th ed, the DMP-A6 sounds just fantastic. I await the LPS upgrade to see if it gets even better, but maybe the main improvement will be in the performance of the internal DAC ?
Yes to a degree, but with a better linear power supply it positively effects the entire system by removing the choppy noise switch mode power supplies that polute the entire circuit that your audio equipment is plugged into. The linear power supply will also lower your unit's noise floor, therefore allowing those very subtle details, ( decay, sustain, and etc ) to come forward. Oh and turn off any LED lights on that same circuit. Those are horribly noisy. 🍻
Hmm Thank you. I am Currently running The Eversolo A6^ master edition into the Hermes D to D converter, to the Pontus II 12 ed DAC. USB then out to I2S. I was wondering why the sound was so different when using AES from my Emotiva 3 CD player to the same setup. It had so much more definition and weight than the Player as transport and was a little more forward. I didn't think to try with Coax. IF i can pick up a little weight of music and yet maintain the since of soundstaging and air as I get with the EVSOLO I will be a happy camper.. I want to be able to just use the EVSOLO as I don't like to keep getting up to change CD's. I will go ahead based on Alvin's words reputation and update the DMP-A6 Master to the Non switching Power supply. As this is my " End Game " system. I want everything to do it's very best. Will come back at some point and update this post.
I have been running the Eversolo A6 and the ARES II since the release of the A6. From the moment I paired the two I knew it was my new reference. Amazing versatility in the A6 and you can fine tune your sound depending on how you send the ARES the signal. I prefer USB as Alvin spoke about. I concur with Alvin’s statements. Hey Alvin, we’re excited to get the ARES 12th in for review and the LPS for the eversolo😊!! Any idea on arrival dates of the two? Cheers and great review. Our reference system sits about $15K for reference as Alvin was mentioning price point. Currently Prima Luna Dialogue Premium, DMPA6, Ares II, Klipsch Forte, REGA P3, Denon 301, Project S-B3, Pine tree audio cables and power cables, Mogami 2549 XLR, AfAudio interconnects. We would love to put the new denafrips streamer in our reference system, for a review. 😊😊😊

Thanks for your videos. Can you connect an optical digital in, (a TV for example) and still use the USB out to an integrated amplifier? If I select the Eversolo Optical In, I'm only given the options to use analog out. Essentially, I'm trying to bypass the Eversolo DAC and test it against use the DAC in my Hegel H190 integrated amp. Thanks again.
Do you know if future releases of the ever solo DMP A6 will be shipped with the new linear power supply installed? Or will you always have to purchase it separately?
Hi sir, we are not sure about it but for now, the availability of the LPS-A6 and its seamless integration into the streamer, to us, is a great solution!
Hi, Ive recently bought an A6 to use as a digital streamer source (stand alone if it sounded better than my current dac, but it doesnt) and Ive discovered it stops sending digital audio when you pause or skip a track and the dac has to re sync. Once the dac has synced, as far as Im concerned, it should stay synced until its either switched off or the sample rate has changed. Mine seems to just turn the digital output off on any transport operation rather than outputting silience. Im on version 1.2.98. I was wondering if you had that happening when you tried it? On the zidoo forums it seems not many people have noticed this but its driving me nuts and Im trying to find out if earlier firmware versions also exhibit this behaviour.
If I am going to use my Ares II (or eventually upgrade to Pontus or Venus) as the DAC does it make any sense to get the Master Edition? I will use this with Roon and have many DSD files on SSdrives. Also, I2S is a preferred connection but, the Eversolo doesn't have I2S, would adding a Denafrips Iris make sense or is it overkill?
Good to know that you're gonna test Volumio Rivo+Pontus2 1(2th ed.) vs Eversolo+Pontus2 (12 ed.), because i'm about to buy those ones as an upgrade of my iFi Zen stream+Ares2 (upgrated) combo. I just wait for the FPGA upgrade of my Ares2 for selling...
If you do not use its internal DAC, getting the LPS-A6 may yield subtle difference. I would weight the diminishing returns. But! If you like to have the last mile of improvement without breaking the bank, why not?
Yes, it is, but you have to make the appropriate settings in the application, just like on the phone. Also, if you install an SSD, the application sees it as a memory card and you can download the music you want, even in HiRes format. I personally prefer the quality of Apple Music over Tidal, Qobuz is not available in my country so I can't say.
Apple Music integration is great considering how walled Apple keeps its software. I have had no problem with streaming bit perfect AM with A6. Qobuz integration is better, check that out if you have a chance.
Has anyone compared the A6 to Mercury v2 or v3 as streamers? Little torn between the two. According to iiwi A6 sounds better than Mercury v1, even with USB vs i2s. Will only play local files flac and dsf/dff from NAS, some Spotify also. Curious about Ropiee and Plexamp on Mercury.
Alvin, can you suggest settings on the DMPa6, native DSD, PCM, etc.. also since there is no MQA support on Denafrips dacs, what are thr best settings? The DMP-A6 can up sample to 192k, do you recommend letting the A6 do it or the denfrips DAC OS/NOS modes?

Jeez Albert, first you say the A6 needs an LPS and offer one for sale for $278 USD. Two days later you say it works better with a $1750 DAC, which you also sell.
Having owned both the Denafrips Ares ll and Pontus ll DACs, which were sold in favor of using the everSOLO DMP-A6 on its own as my sole source component, in my case said Pontus ll would go into standby mode whenever a surge came through the power lines itself, whereas with the Ares ll, said trouble never showed itself to misbehave in the least. And while I’m aware that some use said devices as transports……., I personally love it as it stands based upon its internal DAC, which proves good enough for what’s essentially a $18.000 system. As I’ve set here thinking about adding a DAC upwards of $2000, logic kicked in, and I’ve decided once again, I’m willing to like with the DMP-A6 as is.

The A6 has no I2S output. HDMI connector is for multichannel Audio only, not I2S, unless Eversolo does some firmware upgrade to do so.
