    I've finally got one, and yes I'm very impressed, the screen walkthrough is very easy to navigate, also I've installed storage to it too, I wasn't sure with the plastic clip to secure the storage but it is hidden with the lid. Overall I'm very impressed, I love the vu's and the sound is indeed very clean and focused. At present I'm using my own ripped cd's I've imported via a usb drive. Thanks so much for this video, great find indeed. My only niggle is the vu display can only be accessed on the track your playing. The great thing is everything is mirrored on the phone app. 🥰👍

    For those who use Apple Music (I'm a Tidal Connect guy myself), this streamer looks to be a very good buy, so you can dispense with using Airplay. So many streamers (so far) do not support Apple Music, so it is good to see one that does and plays at the native resolution (not doing some mumbo jumbo resampling to 48KHz all the time). Kudos to EverSolo! Given the Android based O/S of this device and its hardware, would you hazard a guess as to how many years' use a purchaser could expect this device to last before becoming obsolete and unsupported? For some, a device that costs roughly $1000 is something they won't mind replacing every three years. For others it can be a major purchase and they won't be happy if it is dead in three years. The money we invest in our amps, speakers, cables, and audio furniture have a long return on investment lasting over a decade or more. Streamers, unfortunately, don't follow that axiom.
    Good to see the A6 supports up to 4TB SSDs. I think an earlier video by someone claimed only 2TB. Rebecca Pidgeon for the win!

      @@timdanaher I'd like to see such devices have user replaceable electronics boards, similar to how Schiit Audio has done for some of their DACs to keep them from becoming obsolete. Seems sad to throw away such devices when say a simple processor upgrade could extend their useful life by many years. Ah, software obsolescence (and companies not supporting them long term) seems to be a major issue with all these devices.
      I had to throw away a very good Samsung Blu-ray player after only keeping it 3 years (back when such players were not cheap) because Samsung decided in their infinte wisdom that it was too old. Hence my reticence about buying into these devices.

      Apple Music doesn't allow their app to be built into any streaming hardware. Eversolo were able to work around this because of the Android OS. It only works when downloaded as an Adroid style app from Google play, as if you were downloading it to your phone or tablet. It's not as good of an interface as if it were built in, but it will get the job done.

    Very good overview of the interface -- the most comprehensive and easiy the best I've seen on TH-cam. Thanks very much.
    The only things I'd ever use pertain to local storage of ripped CDs on an SSD, as I don't stream. I currently use my laptop running AIMP software to play music, and the only thing that might prompt me to buy the Eversolo would be if the final sound quality were significantly better.
    Have you compared the quality with a laptop source by any chance? My thinking is that the DAC should do most of the cleaning up of the input signal, and so the Eversolo might not improve things much, if at all. It's a bit expensive to experiment and see, hence my question.
    Keep up the good work! 🙂

    I also have the Hegel 390. I just purchased the A6 a few days ago and unfortunately it has led to very little sleep as well. I'm running the A6 via RCA into the Hegel. I have the Yamaha CDS2100 CD player plugged into the XLR on the Hegel 390. I love the player, but so far, the experience in sound quality (Tidal) thru the A6 is seemingly superior to the 2100. Is this because the DAC in the A6 is better than the Yamaha? If that's a possibility, would I then plug the Yamaha into the A6, and what would be the best input to do so. I'm new to this side of audio. Love your show, your humor, and knowledge. Thanks!

    • @13thnotehifireviews7
      @13thnotehifireviews7  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks very much Ken. It could be just your preference or it could be that most will think the Eversolo has better sound. I checked the manual and your cd player has a digital output. Feed the coax digital output from the cd player into the coax digital input of the Eversolo then use the balanced xlr outs from the Eversolo to the Hegel would be my take. If the cd player isn’t much cop then you could sell it and just buy a transport without a dac onboard and only digital outputs. This conceivably could give better sound. Hope this helps

Otherwise let me tell you it does get repetitive and boring if you’ve reached your own personal gear peak ,like I have, a long time ago…..I wouldn’t be concerned with aftersales - innuos do lots of that and they remote linked into my zenith a few times but there isn’t much to go wrong with the Eversolo and it’s easy to use. I still haven’t unboxed mine - just haven’t had the time. But does the variable volume really only have 15 steps?? I’m used to 99 steps on my Naim Uniti Atom. I plan on using this as a streaming preamp, but my speakers are 102 db efficient, so that could be a REAL problem! Thanks for giving us the guided tour. • @dannyfannyfoodle
      @dannyfannyfoodle ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Been fiddling with the Eversolo for the last couple of hours now, so obviously these are VERY preliminary observations:
      1. To answer my earlier question about the variable volume attenuation steps. It ranges from -60 to 0 db with 1 db increments as the default. But in the settings you can adjust that to 0.5 db increments, increasing the variable number of steps from 60 vs the Naim’s 99, to 120! This is excellent for those of us using the Eversolo’s built-in volume control and pairing with high sensitivity speakers.
      2. Build quality is very nice. Certainly at a level unheard of considering its very modest price. In comparison to my Naim Uniti Atom, the edges do feel rather sharp and the powder coat (paint?) finish feels a little rough compared to the smooth durable feel of the Naim. The screen is beautiful and very sharp. It is, however, quite reflective so I’m getting a lot more glare than I do with the Naim placed on the same shelf in the same conditions.
      3. User interface is better in many ways and a little less so in others. Again, very preliminary. I primarily use Tidal for streaming (at least for now) and the thing that I LOVE about the Eversolo is simultaneously the thing that’s bugging me about it. Unlike the Naim’s native app, with the Eversolo you can go all the way into Tidal as though you’re using the native app. With the Naim it’s just a poor approximation of the native app. Unfortunately, as best I can tell, there is no quick easy way to get back to the Eversolo’s Home Screen. You have to back>back>back>back until you finally arrive back at the Home Screen. Maybe I’m missing something, but I find that very frustrating.
      4. Sound quality using the onboard DAC is outstanding. I’m using the default filter and the sound is very incisive. As John Darko says, it’s a squeegee clean kind of sound. I’ll have to see what I think of it in the longer term, but for now I’m really enjoying it. The Naim’s Burr Brown DAC is very musical and engaging without ever being too forward and is very “analog” sounding. It’s a sound I love and that allows me to listen to digital music for many hours without fatigue. I’m only a couple of hours in with the Eversolo so time will tell. The good news, of course, is that in the very long term, I can purchase an external DAC that is exactly to my liking. With the Naim, you’re stuck using the built-in DAC as there is no digital out, only in.
      5. My associated equipment is the Eversolo running the rca analog out to my Conrad Johnson CAV-45 S2 tube control amplifier driving a pair of Klipsch Cornwall IVs. I also have an analog setup with a Marantz TT 15 S1 and an Technics SL-10 running into a Musical Fidelity M1 ViNL and IFi Zen Phono, respectively. Oh, and a Rega Apollo CD player for the CDs I have that aren’t available on any streaming service. Cables are a mix of audioquest, Kimber, and blue jean.

      Good to know of volume steps Dan. Haven’t tried it as pre yet but gonna use it with some Adam audio actives I’m reviewing. I thought panels were better than naim, cleaner with panel gaps. They aren’t as sharp as Isotek cases. You can go back with the home icon btw , you don’t have to keep pressing back. How does this compare as a value proposition to naim and does it equal naim sound.

      Or from a PC. I have 95% of my library in iTunes. The rest is FLAC or mp3. Wonder how hard it is to set up for transfers in finding all the proper IP addresses you need to configure? @@brucecleland9220 I guess they think that telling you the file format is sufficient. Maybe. But yeah, just saying ALAC would beneficial. Glad you were able to get it done. The problem I fear with transferring files from iTunes is that Apple did their own proprietary database thing with the album art, keeping it separate from the music files in other encrypted folders and not embedded inside the music files.
      It would be great if a 3rd party wrote a program that would go into your iTunes music library, find those cover artwork files and embed them into the music files. Unfortunately, I don't know of such a program.
      Too often iTunes gets the cover art wrong anyway, so over the years I have manually put artwork in my files using programs such as mp3tag. I'd definitely not want to lose all that work.

I reached out to eversolo and they denied that band eq was never available on A6 and to show them pictures or video of that. Unfortunately I do not have any evidence of that but I was happy for that couple of days tinkering with eq. Unfortunately it was removed, I assume with an update.
