when MK7 was still relatively new, id love grinding this level in time trials just for the ending jump bit you can do to save a bit of time, insane to see how optimized this level is in the modern era of TASing. sick video!

Metal Mario died as you crossed the finish line under the track, plummeting to earth where you would fall into Grumble Volcano. This was a really nice improvement. Keep it up, William
A really nice TAS. I knew there were some cuts on the track and still I couldn't have been prepared to see this. How could I be so foolish to even think that doing it close to the intended route would be optimal.
This tas blew my expectations out of the water. I played this game for a long ass time as a kid and I knew about the first glider trick and the shortcut at the very end. Seeing mk7 getting tas is so cool despite the limited options the game has to often. Great job

Thank you! It's the most recent game that allows for this kind of exploration and creativity, so I think that's probably why there's still people who care about it
That's why this version is better than MK8's. There's a lot of risk-reward with the optional shortcuts you can take and there's a nice visual of a star at the final turn. MK8 lacks shortcuts, is more flat, and is anticlimactic at the end. The music also lacks that somber finale sound to it.
TAS doesn't mean that it's not real, everything in it is theoretically possible. Every shortcut in this has actually been performed in real time before, but not all of them are done in runs
Yeah, I got a bit carried away when making this, I spent a lot of time in the last week working on this 😅. It's 11 seconds faster because it is a lot more optimized (I saved probably over 1 second in driving and new strategies), but also because the glider glitch didn't exist when the old TAS was made

One of the best TAS Time Trials I’ve seen, definitely the best for MK7. So many cool tricks!
