The fact that this program is completely free for anyone to use and you can do so much from the free version really is a dream come true for broke students such as myself. And the full version only being a one time payment buy is crazy! Thank you for tutorial! I look forward to many more.
This guy is legitimately THE best at getting people up to speed fast. Cut out all the fluff and showcase the major features necessary so we can all hit the ground running.
I have used FCP for years, without being the sharpest guy in the classroom, but I was curios trying DVR a few days ago, and the modern look of it made me seek up YT for more info. I think I am falling in love with this system. Here are a lot of possibilities, you name it, and all are organized perfect, Edit, Cut, Fusion, color, etc. No needs for Apple Motion, I've heard. This video is also the best so far, at least for me. Thank you:)
If you did car repair videos EVERYONE would be doing their own repairs. This is exceptional and the pace is as my mind's eye flows. Amazing. New to DVR18 from another editor and this makes it amazing to understand flow and get up to speed. Thank you.
I have used DaVinci Resolve for about six months now and have completed about twenty projects. Your tutorial is Excellent! I have learned quite a lot. Thank you! 😁
Thank you brother you are life saver. Switched from Hitfilm mid render. Tired of the random crashes, cache sizes exceeding a terabyte and the up charges for every little thing. Wish I never updated. 😪 Oh well, DaVinci is amazing and I was able to pick it up and finish my project all because of this one video. I appreciate you and wish you the best of luck.
da vinci resolve has been overwhelming me so far to do basic edits. This has demystified loads of stuff....this has been super informative..... thanks .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A big THANK YOU for this tutorial. I am moving from Vegas Pro that I've been using for years, to DaVinci Resolve. The overall approach is somewhat different between the two programs. Your video helped me avoid the painful trial and error journey, and enabled me to start using DaVinci in no time.
Moving from iMovie & PP to DR for the first time. I already know what I need to do with my video, audio, effects and color…this video made it sooooo easy to figure out where all the need to know controls are. Appreciate this video! Now it’s time to get editing!
@@Pizzacade I was honestly intimidated by DR’s user interface. It literally hits you in the face with everything you need to do/know. I thought that was a bad thing, until I downloaded it, watched videos like this, and put it to work. It’s amazing to have everything at my fingertips, and all in a row, exactly how you’d like to edit your project. :)
switching from Adobe to DaVinci Resolve is a good option for a beginner and way more simple to get your head around plus the bonus point it is free!! bought the subscription for Adobe and tried it however not quite the way to learn as a beginner ended up canceling and paying more money for cancellation and switching to Davinci. Thanks, Justin for the Tutorial

I watch 100 s of Davinci resolve video tutorial in youtube and I was loosing confident to use this amazing editing software until I watch your Davinci tutorial you gave me confident to to start editing you broken it down for a beginner to understand how to edit with Davinci resolve thank you so much😀 job well done
Just downloaded DR and fortunately for me your video got suggested when I searched for a tutuorial. Very clear explanations and just the right level of what to include for us novices. Bravo Justin from a new subscriber here.
Another fantastic video Justin. Presently I am using Filmora 13 and have an annual subscription but may consider using Davinci Resolve when that expires next year. Love 🥰the video and love ❤Justin and love 😍Primal Video and all the team.
Honestly I am so grateful to you for making this. My current software has reached its limit and I decided to switch over. The way you teach is excellent. I really appreciate the care you took to show how to do each step. Thank you❤
Went from editing in an old copy of Sony Vegas to DaVinci Resolve in 30 minutes. This was a fantastic tutorial, I appreciate all the effort that went into making it!
I like the detail, but this video is for people who can already edit VERY Quickly. I shouldn't have to rewind 500 times on a beginner video. Got anything for an actual newcomer to video editing and resolve? This video should be labeled for people switching from another editor and already skilled. Just my frustration talking, sorry!
I'm already familiar with premiere pro so all the things he says in the video are mostly already apparent to me. But I can totally see how this video can be overwhelming to beginners..
You may want to try searching for editing videos that aren't for any specific program if you aren't familiar with video editing. Most tutorials like this are going to be for people familiar with the editing terminology and tools and won't really show step by step how to edit a video--
I went from having no idea on pretty much no idea on where to start to having a pretty good idea on a work flow to make whatever I want. Thank you so much for this video
Considering the power of this program, it is remarkably intuitive. I was able to do a few simple edits, effects and fades on a video before I knew anything about this program. Impressive. Your video does help speed things up. Thanks.
Thank you, I loaded up DR for the first time tonight. Spent 4 hours getting to grips with it watching this video back and forth. This helped massively.
This was great as I working to move to a new editing software after using Lumafusion for years. Love the front interface. and the look and feel is much more modern. Thanks 😄
Absolutely awesome. Believe it or not...I've been using a 15 year old copy of Windows Movie Maker on several computers for my 12 year old TH-cam channel. That's over 300 videos with MM. For years I've been told I need to up my game. The entry price and complexity of the "recommended" software packages have been keeping me from jumping. But you guys have sold me. In one day of tinkering and going through this video and a few other tutorials and reviews I'm getting the hang of it. I'll be upgrading to the paid version in short order I'm sure. Many thanks!
That's incredible! It's amazing how much you've accomplished with Windows Movie Maker. I'm thrilled to hear our tutorials are helping you upgrade your editing skills. Here's to many more great videos with your new tools! 😃 - Hazel, PV Team
I've been editing for several years, and yesterday I finally installed DaVinci Resolve, my first actually good editing software. This video was a great introduction.
As a complete newbie to video editing this video has been a complete game changer so thank you. The time stamps have made really easy to jump to any section I need to go back to. ❤
Thank you for the insightful beginner's guide to DaVinci Resolve; it's been incredibly helpful for kick starting my video editing journey. Your clear instructions and tips have made the learning process much more accessible and enjoyable! Great Job.
Thank you Justin for this wonderful tutorial which makes learning this so much easier. A big shout for the progress bar at the bottom as well, "I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!" Thanks!
Excellent video that was actually understandable. I followed along with DaVinci opened. As a tactile learner, everything clicked and I feel more confident in starting a project. Thanks SO much for taking time to create this wonderful material.
I agree with @JoshChristiane. Some tutorials are too long or too short, and don't explain the meat of the content well enough to start running at all. This tutorial was perfect....just enough to get going on a simple project, with out getting stuck in tutorial land and spending needless hours trying to get started on what should be a simplistic project.
Very helpful! I sometimes edit and upload our church services, and also have my own gaming TH-cam channel (which I've sorely neglected) and all of these tips were so helpful. Appreciate the time and effort you put into making this great tutorial!
Thanks so much for this tutorial! I'm transitioning over from Final Cut and am so surprised at how easy davinci is! It's also so nice to have an aussie tutorial too. Cheers :)

I was looking for some of the best and fastest tutorials to learn the required. Finally, landed in right place :) I think this is more than enough to make a good video for a beginner!
Thank you so much for the basic rundown! I felt like I learned enough to accomplish some of the more complicated things I wanna do but didn't feel overwhelmed
Thank you so much Justin for this tutorial! As someone who has been primarily photographer for years, and sometimes using Luma Fusion on iPad for some shorts videos, when I opened DaVinci Resolve, it was daunting to me, all the options. I watched a few beginner tutorials to help me make it less scary and start using it, and this was by far the best one, and really made me realize how well thought DR is. Thank you, gonna follow the channel for more :)
Excellent video tutorial! I'm new to Davinci and have a few questions. 1. Is there a way to increase the size of the audio meter on the right side of the edit page without switching to the fair light page? It is very small. If I set the GUI to 200% what would that change? 2. How do you reset the timeline timecode to zero vs the default 1 hour readout? 3. The single preview mode I prefer to use seems to cut a little headroom off the talking head. I think it's set to fit or 100% 4. Other than the mono option on the timeline, is there another way to copy right to left or left to right audio channels on a clip that has one channel only? 5. Do you have a multi-cam tutorial video? 6. Is there a .mov export codec option in export in the free version and what is the max kbps bit rate we can type in other than 80,000? 7. There needs to be a separate node for each adjustment like gamma, highlights, contrast etc. a node for each vs. all in one adjustment. Is this correct? 8. There are some pretty nice 3D premade fusion titles that are thick and have cool animations. I'll learn to create one from scratch sometime if you have a tutorial video on 3d Titles. 9. How do I get the singe preview window mode to max out in size where it is very wide? Im using a high end pro laptop with 4K 3840 X 2160 screen resolution. I also always film and edit in UHD. 10. Are the built-in sound FX and music library copyright free and can they be used commercially beyond TH-cam? I appreciate any info on the above questions.
Just ended my Adobe membership that I inherited from my mom (whos been using premiere for nearly 20 years) and this is the best tutorial I've seen!! Very excited to start using this program and one day get the full paid version :D great work man!!
That's awesome to hear! I'm glad you found the tutorial helpful. Enjoy exploring Davinci Resolve, and who knows, you might upgrade to the full version soon! 😊 - Hazel, PV Team
Thank you for taking the time to do this great video. I'm a long time photography enthusiast, but wanting to delve into video. You video has given me a solid start. Thanks!
This video is great! First time using the program and its really cool, just starting to get into video editing for my art practice. The tutorial has been extremely helpful so far. Just up to the colouring part. The person makes it is really easy to follow and understand.
Been tinkering with editing software since around 2005 and started with Nero. Sadly Resolve mystified me for a while. This helped a ton and hopefully will help me turn out some better videos. Next I have to figure out how to deal with color correcting my dive videos. Then it's on to making some custom titles with a few graphics. Thanks a ton.
I haven't even watched half of the video and everything you have covered perfectly fits my criteria of what I want to do. Thank you! I wanted to make a transition eventually because I know there's software out there that can do the same thing for free! This video eased my transition so much!
Incredibly useful thank you! Finally ditching "a certain other brand" for something that still works perfectly for all I need without annoying subscription models.
Amazing tutorial and i was thinking that davinci resolve is that good so it would be paid but, i was surprised that it is free. And thank you for the effort in tutorial ❤❤
Just start thinking of using Davinci as I'm fed up with the behavior of Premiere Pro. This tutorial is spot on point. Thanks I will be using Davinci real soon.
up until now I have been using lightworks and when it comes to titles and effects is a pain to use and you have to go to a separate mode if you want to touch anything else besides editing. I am soooooo glad I found this
Amazing video! I just finished editing my first video and it went smoother than I expected thanks to this guide. Like for real it was so helpful for a pearson who before didn't know anything about video editing :)
Great tutorial, I’ve been an editor in Final Cut and Premier for 20 yrs and have had a couple of clients ask me about Davinci.. seems intuitive and not very different from premiere and old school Final Cut
Wow what a great video❤ I just downloaded DaVinci Resolve this morning and was playing around with it . . . not knowing what I was doing of course😮 Your video has provided me with a greater understanding the program basics👍 Thank you so much👍✌
This was incredibly helpful and made me, someone much closer to 50 than 20, w no background in this, believe I can make a podcast video look good! One thing I didn't see addressed, and I realize it's probably rare, but I lost wifi while recording my podcast and so I ended up with two halves on separate videos. What's the best way to splice them together? Is it just drop the second in the B Roll part and play it there or can I put them together? Thanks.
Really great tutorial! Did I miss if there was a way to flip/mirror videos in the event I record in selfie mode and an item has writing on it? Oh and the undo/revert to original short cut would be a plus to know where it is located too.
Nice one, I have a paid version but always find myself going back to fcpx bc I just have too many plugins I use in fcpx and Davinci is kind of overkill these days if you ask me. I wish I could just color grade but the xml from fcpx to Davinci and back also is a PIA bc of the frame rate issues and no time code mismatch on the timelines. If I could breeze through making selects like I do on fcpx by hitting I and O and hitting F making favorites and then editing from those selects only I might give Davinci a chance. But how it is now it is not easy to do this at all. Wish they would add a feature like that.
I’m in the same situation having so many presets in fcpx but very recently I decided to go full in davinci. I think the *favorite* feature you talking about is well present. The only downside for me there is I don’t have all the plugins I had in fcpx
What a fantastic tutorial, well done and thank you. You have inspired me to improve my videos and up my game by using DaVinci Resolve, looking forward to seeing more of your content.

Thank you so much for the basic rundown! I felt like I learned enough to accomplish some of the more complicated things I wanna do but didn't feel overwhelmed
Awesome, all the best to you 😊 - Hazel, PV Team
Thank you so much Justin for this tutorial! As someone who has been primarily photographer for years, and sometimes using Luma Fusion on iPad for some shorts videos, when I opened DaVinci Resolve, it was daunting to me, all the options. I watched a few beginner tutorials to help me make it less scary and start using it, and this was by far the best one, and really made me realize how well thought DR is. Thank you, gonna follow the channel for more :)
Feel free to watch any videos that would be helpful for you. See you in the next one 😊 - Hazel, PV Team
I think it's set to fit or 100%

Sounds great, all the best 😀 - Hazel, PV Team

up until now I have been using lightworks and when it comes to titles and effects is a pain to use and you have to go to a separate mode if you want to touch anything else besides editing. I am soooooo glad I found this

Thanks.
Thank you for this. As someone whom usually works with linear video editors, this was concise and clear.
You're welcome! I'm glad you found it clear and helpful. 😊 - Hazel, PV Team
Thank you so much for this. I genuinely understood it all from your explanations, and didn't have to rewind at all in confusion.
So awesome to hear it, you're welcome 😊 - Hazel, PV Team

Switching over from Premiere after using that for 10 years. Thanks for the great intro tutorial! Your tip on the Trim Edit Mode really helped!
Sounds great, glad the tutorial and trim edit mode tip were helpful in transitioning from Premiere. - Hazel, PV Team
Absolutely fantastic tutorial. I will dive deeper into this. Just grabbed what I needed initially.
Nice, great to hear that 😊 - Hazel, PV Team
This was so helpful and easy to follow. I was delaying upskilling myself for a new video tool, this was a blessing. Thank you, sir! :)
You're welcome, glad we're able to help 😊 - Hazel, PV Team
