Missed one huge thing. Resolve is SO much faster at rendering, and plays back much smoother than premier

im my case using same 4k clip in Premier it can play back smoothly at native resolution，but in Resolve the play back is kind of choppy even when i lower the timeline resolution and play back resolution and use 1/2 timeline proxy its still choppy，i have to use optimize media to make everything smooth，but it takes time and storage space，dont know why its like this because on internet almost everyone says Davinci is smoother than Premier，and my hardware is still good enough i think（r7 5800h rtx3060 laptop）so i really dont know whats the problem here
@@shang1905 What codec are you shooting in? I have heard before that the free version of resolve on pc doesn't support HEVC(h.265). I have no idea if that's actually true, I made the switch to a Mac a couple years ago and never looked back : )
@@shang1905 are you using the free version of Davinci Resolve? Note that the free version doesn't support hardware decoding/encoding for h264/h265, that feature uses your GPU to take give you smooth playback and speed up rendering. Only the paid version has it and it does that better than premiere. That's why people find Davinci smoother and faster than premiere. But even without that feature, your laptop should play any 4k footage smoothly..so strange

As a da vinci user, you can use layers as a text. It is not obligatory to use fusion. Fusion is like after effects. You don't need to go to fusion when you are doing basic editing.

Yes - exactly right. Fusion = AE and nodes are so much easier for this kind of work.
yeah you can just add the color generator and turn down the opacity then add a text on top. You can either keyframe in the inspector tab to animate the size of the text or add a transform node in fusion for more options. Fusion is not necessary
As an DaVinci user…if you are getting into editing, it’s your best option! Great video guys

As a learner I feel it's harder to learn DaVinci because of that fusion and farlight things
@@Meisenpai69 foundations are complex because they are more powerful and flexible than adobe's counterparts. You are not gonna be beginner forever, once you get passed the beginner stage, you'll start to see the power and realize why adobe stuffs are not used in big budget shows and movies. Resolve is not a beginner friendly tool as it's geared towards professionals working in the movie and tv industry. So if all you wanna do is edit super basic videos, you might be better off using something else.
When I started editing, I was 11 and I made some simple goofy vids in iMovie. iMovie is great for learning super basic editing, but it can't do much else. Interestingly, switching from iMovie to DaVinci Resolve is decently easy, since iMovie happens to actually borrow a lot of mechanics from Resolve. Sure, iMovie is not a proper editor, but is a great way to just get into the idea of putting videos together with music and text.
@@rano12321 I just started learning editing 3 days ago with davinci. I think the scene edits, cuts and text is very simple. You can learn it in about 25 minutes. With my limited experience I think the most challenging part for me is the animation side of things. Apart from the preset animations, I don’t have a clue how you tell the software the elements you want to animate a certain way. Colour editing seems simple enough but it’s the damn nodes and any fancy animation that gets to you as a learner

You can definitely use the “text” or “text+” effect in layers on the edit page in DaVinci to do the same thing as far as text and a solid color overlay. That doesnt necessarily have to be done in Fusion.
I find it very annoying to see so many of these "comparison" videos always missing the most basic stuff, and effectively misleading people. It shows how little they care about the subject...
They do zero basic research... You would think that people who want to speed up their editing workflow would learn about the software BEFORE doing a comparison videos.
Exactly, the cut and edit pages are layer based editors with the same workflow every single layer based NLE has.

Resolve definitely has a slicker UI! I want to change, but I’m so fast on Premiere after all these years. Adobe has a few cool features I use a lot: auto-reframe and subtitle generation. They’ll get more powerful with AI.
DaVinci Resolve literally has both of those. Plus if you ever find yourself rotoscoping or wanting to place text behind a subject, DaVinci Resolve has Magic Mask. It uses the neural engine to do ALL the rotoscoping automatically and is such a powerful tool. I started with Resolve and don't use nodes or fusion on a regular basis. The only space I use nodes is in the colour panel and that is really simple. Think of it like stacked adjustment layers that are just 10 times more powerful.

Resolve has also added those AI based tools btw, auto reframe, Ai based subtitles, voice isolation, text based editing, AI upscaling etc etc.
I tried to switch but gave up on it when I found how complicated it was just to save an effect preset. It has benefits but I noped out and went back to premiere.
Might be unpopular opinion but nodes are one of the reason why I switched from Premiere/AE to Resolve/Fusion as pretty much most professional VFX is done with node-based software. Resolve, Nuke, Fusion, Maya, Houdini, Mari, Flame etc. just to name a few. Also, once you go nodes, there's no going back, after learning and using nodes everything else will feel super unintuitive and slow. It's funny because almost nothing is layers based outside of this Adobe-youtube-indie realm.
Nodes work logically so you can build very complex effects with basic logical foundations and control the order of operations which is crucial for complex effects and you wouldn't be lost since you can get a birds eye view of everything you have done with nodes at once and can go back to any stage and make necessary changes without hunting down a million pre-comps and these are just a few of the hundreds of reason why AE is not used in pro vfx studios but Nuke or Fusion or Flame.
I’m a veteran editor and started using Resolve in 2014 alongside Premiere as a freelancer.
By 2018, I was done with Premiere because the hidden capabilities of Resolve are INSANE.
Im currently doing compositing for a feature film with tracking elements and rotoscoping and every time I look for a solution, I find that it is already integrated into Resolve!
The more you explore, the more blown away you’ll be … and I’ve been editing for 30+ years.

11:46 well in davinci resolve you can create a smart bin where you can add frequent elements like videos, photos, effects, etc. You can choose to make this smart bin stay forever even if you open a new project and it will appear in your edit tab.

as a 3d animator, and nature photographer, ive been using nodes and layers for years, honestly nodes most times are more orderly, layers can get quite confusing with all the back and forth, but with nodes there is a steady progression towards the result, so you can just leave a desired amount of space between effects to organise them better, i have not used resolve yet, but if you can create node groups then its obviously a better way to go
Not sure if you have explored power bins, but I find for reused assets I vastly prefer using powerbins over opening other projects now. It's great for storing reused assets, animations, fusion effects, and even pre made fusion based adjustment layers. Very powerful.
Also keep in mind, in Premiere if you apply a transform lut before doing basic edits in the same lumetri panel, you are clamping down you dynamic range a lot before making those adjustments. If you put the transform lut inside the creative panel in lumetri it will take place after basic adjustments, so you still have access to all the exposure available.
Power bins are amazing for this!
My two-cents on this. I'm all in on DaVinci Resolve now. But my journey is one where I started in Premiere Pro 20-years ago. I switched from Premiere to Final Cut Pro in the mid-2000s because Final Cut Pro was more standard, but we still used After Effects for our graphics/VFX. After the release of FCPX in 2011 that is when we all switched to Premiere Pro. However, at that point I had already been introduced to DaVinci Resolve for color grading, and had been using it with FCP7 over Apple Color. So from the beginning of the FCP to Premiere switch I was using Resolve for color. It was hands down best. Adobe had Speedgrade and it sucked by all comparisons.
Now that that little history is over with. The main reason I made the switch to Resolve in 2016 had entirely to do with cutting out the steps of starting in Resolve with RAW footage to make Proxies to work in Premiere and then back to Resolve for color and then back to Premiere to finish. Way too many unnecessary steps. I could simply edit the RAW in Resolve and color it with a simple jump from the Edit Page to the Color Page. At that time Fusion Connect existed in a similar manner to Dynamic Link with PPro and AE. But I could still use AE using the same technique I had when I was in FCP way back when. So you lose dynamic link with AE? Who cares. I started teaching myself Fusion. By 2017 Fairlight is added and Resolve is greatly improved because Blackmagic rewrote the code from the ground up. It was a massive improvement in performance. That also began the not needing to open Premiere for me. Then in 2018 Fusion was added to Resolve and I didn't need open After Effects. I had taught myself well enough for the switch to be permanent. Only opening Premiere to color grade other people's projects and needing to do conform work.
So, within two-years I made the complete switch. I had barely been back in Premiere for four-years. I've now been in Resolve for 5-years completely, but with 7-years being able to be claimed. And, for color over a decade.
Now that the full history is out of the way, I would say it is more evident that Resolve is the future for narrative, music video, and commercials. All the tools are there. Plus, Node Based Compositing is Standard because Nuke is the Industry Standard for VFX. Baselight is also an alternative color program and it uses Nodes. Nodes are very easy to understand, and once you learn them they are wonderful. So knowing Nodes in Fusion will help you out in using a more complex VFX software like Nuke. Overall, you want to be where the industry will be and that will be in Resolve. I don't think Avid will hold the top tier spot for long. And, Avid is currently industry standard.
Adobe may hold the corporate world a little longer because most corporations don't know the video industry standards. So they understand Adobe has the hold on graphics and video. But, with video the true industry is shifting away from Adobe. And, Adobe finally started to support ACES, which Avid, DaVinci, and Nuke have supported for years. The fact that Adobe was behind the ball on that and any proper color management is bad.
If I'm working with professional cameras like ARRI, RED, Sony (Venice), or Blackmagic then I'll be using Resolve. Color Management and a proper workflow with VFX Teams is so pivotal. Resolve is far better equipped for that. And, in terms of collaboration I'll be looking for Resolve Editors now. Premiere Editors are no longer who I care to hire. I need people familiar with Resolve. And, with Resolve I can use the Cloud Collaboration Tools to work with others. While a project is edited by an editor, a colorist can color, and a sound mixer and mix, and the VFX team can work on the VFX shots, all in the Cloud simultaneously. It will be far more efficient.

I'm seeing more and more people move to Resolve and I love it. Now all my favorite creators are making Resolve videos I can actually use lol. Also, you are definitely able to use layers in Resolve as well. I rarely do things in Fusion.

I’ll be that guy. Resolve is better and it’s not even close. I edited in Premiere for 7 years and then switched to resolve at v16. Best decision I’ve ever made as an editor. And yea, Resolve my “crash” once in a while but it’s much more like a “freeze” and is extremely rare. Also since Resolve saves with literally every click, when it does freeze and restarts it’s nowhere near as catastrophic as Premiere. It just pops back up and you’re literally exactly where you left off. No stupid prompt like in Premiere where you have to duplicate the project and save a new version somewhere on your computer with a new name. Resolve is soooo much more stable.
do i need to enable it autosaving after every click, or is that default? ive just been spamming control+s all the time
@@cheesi4632 it was something you had to go and enable but I believe in recent versions it installs with the feature active by default.
A little note about 12:07 : you can actually save presets as powergrades in the color tab, this will be carried across all projects within the same database ;)
The problem of needing an image editing and graphics software, can easily be resolved with alternatives, like affinity's software. Besides that photography plan is really cheap if someone needs it apparently.
Personally i am in a learning curve to da vinci, cause of the lowest amount is needed for the paid version. Once time fee gives freedom to have reasonable prices for your services, though not all our customers have huge budgets.

Im enrolled with you guys and love the content. A couple things I would note though is that the numbers you’re citing for resolve vs Adobe SEEMS to be for all of adobes products vs Davinci resolve only. I’m not sure if that’s correct, but it would make a difference in an apples to apples comparison.
Would also say that premiere is industry standard for SOME things like TH-cam and perhaps smaller production companies BUT not for color grading in Hollywood or higher end production. It would obviously still do the job but isn’t really typical. Would also make the case that Avid is still seen as fairly standard in that realm as well from what I can gather.

For the simple motion graphic stuff, text overlays, and what not he described at 9:56 is 100% just the same in davinci resolve. The edit and cut pages are layer based editors with adjustment clips, overlays, transitions and effects like every other editor, You don't need to touch fusion for many things. A loose rule you can use is "if you don't need after effects to do it with adobe's suite, you don't need to touch the fusion page in resolve." This is true for most cases.
This was helpful, I think. Though I'm a long time Adobe user, I've been looking hard at DaVinci Resolve because of its color grading abilities. There's a couple of other factors in play. My wife is a college professor and she has the educational discount on the Adobe Suite. However, she'll be retiring in a year and I'm afraid our discount will go away just as our income is reduced. Furthermore, I'm really intrigued with Dehancer. If I get it, I would have had to decide to either stick with Adobe or go to DaVinci. There are still photography software that is giving PS and LR a run for it's money. They, like DaVinci, aren't subscription based. Decisions! Decisions!
I haven't used Premiere Pro, but have used Premiere Elements for the last three or four versions. It's generally easy to use, but I'm moving to DaVinci Resolve as well. I have wanted to make better, more complicated videos, and so PE is at the limit of what I can do. I have avoided subscription-based programs thus far, and will continue to do so as long as non-subscription programs are available options.
While nodes take a little while to learn, they are much more convenient than layers imo. Layers are inherently one dimensional whereas with nodes you can have multiple 'pipelines' simultaneously, which becomes really messy when bunched together and displayed as a single stack of layers.
Concerning copying projects please explore power bins in resolve 😅. You'll be shocked.
Concerning layers and nodes most industry standard software use nodes for VFX work (that's why they use nodes for their VFX). Nuke, Maya, Houdini etc all use nodes. By using nodes in fusion, you're already into industry stuff. And you well know that nodes are more powerful than layers. For easy stuff layers may *seem* simple. But when things get serious layers just fall off.
Multiple Timelines in Davinci is there already, Doing text in layers is also there in the edit page. If you already know Audition you would be a god in fairlight. Most of the things mentioned in this video have already equivalent implementation in Davinci, except of course for familiarity and muscle memory. We just need to dive in deeper

I have been using Adobe Premiere Pro for 5 years now, and its interface is very attractive. We can customize its layout according to our preferences. Premiere Pro has been the best choice for me, and it will continue to be. Another thing is that software teaches us how to use it, but we need to be creative and create things on our own.

As a side note you can get the Speed Editor for Davinci which Premiere does not have. This saves you alot of time if you do editing on a regular basis.
Also if you watch for a sale you can get a licensed copy of Davinci Resolve Studio included for free with a purchase of a Speed Editor.

Had to Premiere Pro in college. While its great, now that I dont have it for free I needed to seriously take a look at Davinci and I can honestly say I’d rather the cheaper product that is practically the same if not better. As someone who also used Maya 2018 I am pretty confident I can tackle the node system fairly quickly and make the jump over asap
If you regularly need footage from another project, you can save these clips in the power grades. Then you don't have to switch between projects.
on davinci (18 above) you can stack 2 timelines or more in 1 project, the settings in the edit section and in top left of ur timeline there is a timeline logo you can set the timeline as you want
You can do exactly the same thing you are doing in premier in resolve if you want it to, you don't need to complicate things, although fusion is not to hard to learn then after effect
DaVinci is by far WAY ahead of the game as far as features, price, & overall user experience! 🙌🏾 Switched from FCPx two years ago & haven't looked back once!

Just watched this video and downloaded Davinci Resolve free version to start experimenting. I am a full-time pro stills shooter who is starting to table in video. Thanks for the helpful comparison.
As a beginner in editing, I actually found PP SIGNIFICANTLY easier to navigate for the basic stuff. And the learning curve for colorgrading to be SIGNIFICANTLY steeper in Resolve. Perhaps I'm biased coming from a fairly proficient background in Photoshop so a lot of concepts and terminology translated directly to PP. But Resolve was definitely harder for me. I am starting to see weaknesses in PP colorgrading though, so I will probably eventually make the switch. I've got a couple friends in the professional industry that said something similar. If you're just starting out, PP is just easier (more expensive for sure though).
Opposite for me, had been using photoshop since 24 years ago, and regularly use Lightroom, but I found Resolve controls and interface much more intuitive. I still have both, but I haven’t opened up PP in forever, last time I opened it up, I felt lost as hell.

Great video! While nodes may seem new they’re not. And they’re amazing!!!! They give you power and flexibility that layer based workflows just can’t. This becomes super apparent when you get into 3D graphics and vfx. One of the most used tools is Sidefx Houdini. The reason why this all seems so new is because people aren’t used to using fusion but learning nodes will give you Jedi force level capabilities. Especially when using more powerful tools such as maya, fusion, and even blender and yes blender is industry standard and big as well as small studios are switching. Another powerhouse is renderman by Pixar. I would highly recommend that everyone working in film should learn nodes. Blender is free and is compliant with the vfx reference standard as is davinci resolve so it’s a great idea to learn nodes.

12:11 mark Davinci resolve has Power bins were you can save any file any type, media, sfx, jpeg, transition, custom made compound clips etc, all to be accessible for easy and quick access across all projects.
You can also layer the text in the timeline in davinci
Actually putting text can be same as pr since you also got an option to put adjustment layer or overlay and top of that text layer, and Davinci also crashes since it needs more gpu power ! But yessss its pretty faster than pr and by far it feel too good working on resolve after using pr and having lot of crash landings ! Learning fusion and fairlight can be hard but once you get used to it it will be 🚀🚀🚀
I feel like at the end of the day its all about what you prefer. Personally I started a few years ago on a cracked version of premiere pro with cracked sapphire, and all other plugins I needed and watched 10 minute video and understood the basics and could you quite a lot already
thank you for the comparison, I tried to learn DVR, it is very hard to understand for a newbie. although neither a pro at APr, a long time ago used FCPro 7 & and then HFExpress.
I edit in premiere pro, color grade in davinci. I don't think one is better than the other, all depends on your technical expertise in any of the two. However, davinci's color grade interface is top notch and it's fast becoming the new trend in Nigeria, for pro colorist. The fact that it's cheaper and apparently almost free gives it edge.
I mean is it worth it to pay for a software that you only use for half your workflow? 🤷🏻♂️

To add an additional comment, every single tutorial (EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.) on how to do a proper node tree and doing CST in Resolve, is different and sometimes downright conflicting. It's hard to navigate that when you are learning the ropes in colorgrading in Resolve. With PP you slap on a LUT to go from log to rec709, then straight to colorgrading or more LUTs, done. No confusion.
The Node system in Fusion is the one thing that makes me love Davinci Resolve.
I find it to be much more clear what is happening. I dabbled with premiere tweoi decades ago and recently with HitFilm.
But Davinci with it's nodes is so much better to read.
This is really helpful, I ran into a huge bug with premiere pro and saw it was unfixed for months. That annoyed me at the price point this editor comes with, so I looked into others, and I had no idea Davinci had some of these features that really catch my eye. I'm gonna be switching, and I'm really excited to.

I absolutely don't like the subscription method of payment, this + the costs + the fact that it is all-in-one software makes me go on Davinci Resolve. I like the (Italian) name and the icon as well :)

The thing with fusion is that if your going to do anything special effects nodes are what you use in most pro compositing softwares.
I am a beginner tbh i download both tbh i liked divinci it was extremely easy to learn and understand, more features for no price, it have everything you need all in one.
I definitely want to switch to Resolve for editing. Premiere is SO BUGGY! Especially when working with audio. Entire sound clips drop out while previewing, even after rendering the audio. It's super annoying! I don't think I'll be able to give up After Effects for the time being though. Fusion seems great (I love the magic mask), but there are still a lot of things that seem easier to do in After Effects. My scenes get very complex and I've developed a clean precomp workflow and I can see it just turning into a giant ball of spaghetti in Fusion since each effect is a separate node. I'll have to try it out and see if I can adapt to it.

Everyone talks about the cost and I'm playing with switching, but for me I'm still going to have to pay for the entire Adobe creative cloud because I still need Photoshop, Illustrator and Lightroom. And.. incase I still need to do something in After Effects (have paid plugins) I might as well pay for the whole suite anyway.

With the same PC/ Laptop, I could work easily and quickly with PR, but with Davinci, it's nightmare to even using a cross dissolve. Nobody mentions about requirement systems of both Program. With newbie, not everyone has big budget to build a good system. That's a huge things.
Agree Davinci is very heavy
from a music video director/vfx/editor/colorist - premiere pro for editing main skeleton, sound design - after effects for compositing (haven't dove into nuke yet like i should lol), blender/houdini/c4d for vfx/sims - >> davinici resolve for coloring/final touches

resolve is the most stable editing software i have ever used easy to pick up considering i came from an easy to use editer (wondershare filmora)it also exceeds in color grading and can do everything premiere pro can but free and a really easy to use with all the tabs split up import you media in the media section cut it up in the cut section do some general editing like transitions text and mainly really just what ever you might need then you go into after effects A.K.A fusion then you go into color and see what colors look good do some masking and other stuff then you finish sound design then export

I have been using davinci for some time now (the free version) and it has never crashed in both of my laptops. I would also recommend this for beginners as it feels easier to use and organize.
I personally use DaVinci Resolve studio, and affinity photo for my photo editing. Does 100% of what I need personally.
Hey actually about editng with layers in Premier and Nodes in DaVinci, in the edit tab you can choose to edit by layers if you wish to, I usually edit in layers with graphics and titles on the edit tab its much faster. You also can do everything in fusion, the only difference is fusion will have more options and flexibility overall

One place where Resolve really jumps ahead is the inclusion of Fusion. I can't use Premier without also having After Effects. And I am comfortable with the way AE works and I really wish Fusion was similar to that rather than the Node based system. But lets be honest... Resolve INCLUDES Fusion so Resolve is equal to Premier and AE combined.
I'm specialised in motion graphics/special effects/title/animation/etc. and always used Adobe since cs5 and will stick to After effect. Recently i had to do a lot of "classical" video eiting with Premiere pro as well and to be honnest, The only thing stoping me to go with the DaVinci/After effect duo is the fact that i can edit something i missed in AE and it will change directly in premiere pro without waiting 30 to 120 minutes each time i render. In a perfect world where i could import AE composition directly in Resolve i would make the switch. If my main job was to do video editing i would go to Resolve as well. For the color grading part, i must admit that DaVinci nails it and it makes me a bit jealous tbh.
Hi . Thanks for all video's u created . I didn't switch to Davinci because in premier I have more hands from Davinci in my extension windows I have so many think for motion and text and many many thinks I didn't find it in davinci and many many prests and mogrt u save a lot of times. finally we always need photoshop and its from adobe . Sorry one last point the fusion window is not easy like after effects. I just used davinci for coloring it's the best of the best .
I’ve been using Filmora recently and it’s really intuitive to use, I even make thumbnails with it
Even you said made tutorials for Davinci, I think still a lot left for you to discover and when you do, you'll see how easy it is all the things you mentioned are difficulties.
The nodes is exactly why DavinciResolve is so captivating 😃
Blender also has nodes, Unreal also uses nodes for texturing- I’m sure that there’s a million game engines which incorporates a node system in some way.
As a *CASUAL, AMATEUR* Blender user myself, the Fusion system makes a lot of sense to me!
I’m considering The Avid. Was on legacy FCP for many years, switched to Pr the day FCPX released, have been migrating to Resolve but it’s WAY too easy to make little mistakes and have to go back and correct.
Resolve is dominant in Color Grade
Pr is great for speed and short form and/or FX migrating with Ae and vertical videos
But I think it’s time to dive into the Avid

Davinci is like Mesh Network, and Premiere is like Tree Network. While working, I love it when I don't have to keep switching applications.
Why not use both? Im using Premiere/Davinci/Filmora 12.
I was interested in learning video editing a few years ago when I began my journey with the Adobe premiere Pro pirated version cuz I couldn't afford to buy an authentic version. It crashed my computer every single time I clicked on the icon.
Finally I purchased a new laptop the first software I installed is Davinci. I just started learning davinci and it's already very easy and simple to use even though my laptop is mid ranged powered by ryzen 5.
this is deff my opinion and a technical correction of the above video. Davinci uses whats called a node tree. All 3D software, such as, Blender, Unreal Engine 5, Maya, Houdini etc...all use NODES/Node tress. Yes, in default, it is right to left in Fusion. However, one can simply make it vertical/layered...if preferred. I feel nodes are easier/more intuitive as I am not forced to put "layers" where the software wants them to be. I can place a node "anywhere" and connect it to anything at anytime I want to in order to change something. Nodes create a larger set of customizations. Basic effects need a small number/basic nodes. Which means, you don't need to place an affect on something and change a bunch of things to get "the look" you want. One node does a specific thing and you change that specific thing and it won't change your entire project in turn. Just that one node. A "text" node is text only. It wont change anything other than that text. Background node is...well...you get it. The background only. LOL. Once these are understood, it is pretty fast. Just set default to vertical if one wants the "layer" look to the node tree. Keep in mind the "tree" part of "node tree" One can branch out a specific part of the tree if one wants to really customize "one part" of the project. There are great vids and the manual, believe it or not, is great explaining nodes. PS, just try stuff too. You won't break it. HAHAHA. Control Z saves lives. HAHAHA There is NO CONTROL Y. Don't think CONTROL Y is "redo" CONTROL Y is "soften" or "lighten". Can't remember off the top of my head. Redo is i think shift, control, z. The manual has all shortcuts and one can set defualt the keyboard to premier pro shortcuts if one wants that. One can set the default keys to whatever they want to as well. Then Davinci has the hardware. Game changer. Don't even need the keyboard. They are a tad pricey, but Davinci resolve STUDIO comes free with ALL HARDWARE, including their cameras and links and such. All hardware. They have a really nice 300$ mini quick editor unit that I LOVE and came with DaVinci studio free. If you don't like the unit, just sell it and you basically get DaVinci studio free from selling the edit unit on ebay or something. Just make sure to put "software license not included with unit" in your description or additional info when selling to make it legal and all.

I started using premiere pro in 2004. Other than the 3 years final cut 7 was the best ive stayed with premiere... I am currently doing davinci training videos and ready to make the switch.
dont make the switch and regret bro.. within few months with adobe updates davinci will sink. Still premiere is very user friendly and easy to use and its plugins are crazy . davinci just cool for its name.

@@RelaxedMind101 As I wrote I was working on PP for 8 years so I know Adobe very well. PP is industry standard? Doing video fot internet ok, but cinema or TV? How many hollywood production was done by PP? Adobe was boasting some 2 or 3 movies :D In TVs standard is Avid and davinci and less and less PP and FCP. Look (even on YT) how meny peope are switching from PP to DR. And how many videos about from DR to PP? Two? Three? :) I will never back to adobe. I don;t need more crashing, waiting for importing media or project, fighting against trying to do good tracking and switching to AE or AA to do something else. Just only work on timeline is more comfortable and faster (almost like in Avid) than in PP. But I will repet - if you know DR well and all the functions and features:) I will not evet say that adobe is on market for so many years and Adobe still can't get PP to use GPU for 100% as Davinci. It's some absurd in soft for working on graphic...

As a heavy user of DVR, it do crashes but that's very unlikely. It happened to me probably less than 15 times in 3 years. And I've never had a very good machine, I'm switching soon to a finally decent computer for video editing (the best I've had, my current machine, has 6 CPU cores and a 3060, not enough at all for nice video editing with compositing and fx).
I must admit that I prefer the node system after having tried both, but that's totally subjective at this point. My thoughts work very well with nodes so...
But if you're more comfortable with layers there is also a way to have some kind of layers in Fusion with the "keyframes" panel. Not very it but maybe easier to check for those habituated to layers.

You can crash anything if you don't know your computer like the back of your hand. I only used resolve for my personal projects and gigs. When I studied at college, I had to buy Adobe but I only used it on school computers which were Mac pros configured on a server. I crashed resolve plenty of times mostly I didn't know computers and drives like I do now.
Used Premiere for 15 years and switched to Davinci, Kicking my self for not switching earlier. The switch is tough initially, but over time Davinci feels much better.
I'm kicking myseft for that too :)
As a graphics designer and video editor the adobe suite is definitely better but if you’re solely a video editor then switching to davinci makes the most sense

As a DaVinci user. I use Affinity Serif for photoshop stuff. They also use one time payment.
lots of stuff you focusing as "need to be done with nodes" is also available as layers like in premier . nodes / fusion is just more mighty for a lots of vfx ,. and adobe is feeling like slow html web pages even on an decent pc . davinci is feeling like a programm
10:19 it makes sense to YOU as someone who has worked with the software for years but as someone who hasn't touched anything but MS PowerPoint davinci definitely takes the W here for me bc it's so much easier and simpler in a way. I don't want to feel like I'm working thru 500 layers trying to make sure everything still works when Davinci seems like it's very straightforward

All those are found in 1 program vs 3.
Nodes are only used in Fusion/Color and to me allow for a much cleaner workflow. Especially the ability to create groups+collapse groups>> precompose, sort layers by name making it easy to edit key frames, and a lot more that I discovered within the first week of using Resolve.
Once I found out about Reactor and it’s plugins for Resolve it was over for me

@@luigibro2340 reactor is a plug-in that lets you download hundreds of free 3rd party plugins. Many of which are AE effects that have been recreated for fusion
Hope someone can help me or give their honest opinion... Currently I am using FCPX but for bigger projects the magnetic timeline is just a pain in the a**. So I decided I switch, first I wanted to get DaVinci, as the left to right workflow seems pretty nice and there are hardware like the speed editor and the mini panel, which I think, can save you so much time... BUT, and here is the but... my biggest client now started to shoot in ProResRAW, as you might know, you can adjust the ISO in Post but only in FPCX, you can work with ProResRAW in Premiere and have many options but not the ISO change. But besides that I and my client thought, Premiere would be a good choice. Because you can't import ProRes RAW to DaVinci, you need to convert it to CinemaDNG and because I use Mac Computers, they have dedicated ProRes Performance. So we think that due to this fact, the work with premiere and the original ProResRAW should be more smooth and also the export should be faster in Premiere due to the ProRes Files. Can anyone confirm this? Or does anyone have some thoughts, experience or stood in the same place and can share what editing software he uses?
I come from Sony Vegas to Adobe Premiere and Davinci's UI is making it harder for me to understand but I do love learning another software, another app to add to the resume 😆
