    Great Video. I wanna add something, tho, which helped me out a lot to get better: before the game starts imagine each enemy hero, what's the scariest thing that hero can do, and how is it being displayed/telegraphed in the game. And that's it. Before I actively did that, I sometimes got overwhelmed by certain abilities, because I never really was mentally prepared at what was coming at me. But now, when I see a certain hero, I have his scary move visualized, and I can somewhat prepare for when it actually happens. For example, when I'm up against Stitches, I think about his hook, and once the game has started, and I see him on screen, that's a reminder for me, to keep some minions in between me and him.

  • @infraredxray
    @infraredxray 6 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    Basically, you have to play every character in the game. That way, you have an idea of what the mentality of each hero will resemble so when you encounter heroes in fights you know what they're going to try and do to you. It just takes a lot of learning through experience and really applying yourself.

    I have to say that I do not usually comment on TH-cam but I have to give you one big "Kudos" for the content. Down to Earth, useful examples in a very complex game. The lack of BS is a huge bonus. Keep up the very good work.

    Thing is: If you play a healer it is not enough to only look at what you can do. You have to watch the positioning of your team mates, those of the enemy, predict what your team mates will do and what the enemy will do. And you always have to decide whom you might have to let die and who is so important in the team fight that he needs the most attention. Also you are often the primary target of the enemy, so you have to constantly watch out who in the enemy team might flank or dive to put pressure on you. And while you try to keep your team alive you also have to support them with utility - roots, silences, knock backs... to enable them either to secure kills or give the room and time to move away from danger.

    NotParadox: "it is very simple, you just focus on one or two things you can do... and what abilities your enemies have and which are relevant for what you want to do and which ults your enemies have picked, and what they could do with them, and when they have last used them, and what there range is, and where they are positioned compared to you and which way they are moving, oh, and what is your role in the fight, and why are you fighting and then you can build from there.........."

    Good video. I think the best way to summarize this is, "What is your maximum effective range while remaining safe and what is the enemies maximum effective range." The zone colors really help people see that. Of course, playing a hero over and over is where you start to really recognize those areas as far as abilities go and seeing/playing other heroes gives you an idea when it comes to the enemy team. I definitely agree that you just have to team fight over and over and eventually your brain will start processing everything you see without actually having to consciously think about it so you begin to immediately recognize when a hero has all his abilities spent i.e. Diablo charges/throws (either order) and uses his E. You now know its safe to engage Diablo at closer range because he's not going to be able to immediately punish you for getting close. I'd say one of the harder things to process though is Time. Trying to keep track of all heroes CDs is obviously a lot of experience in playing.

    My biggest problem in teamfights I lost my own hero and when I finally found it (realize the lost and hitting space button) already dead...
    I use my peripheral vision but often accidentally confound the characters if they r similar. For example Raynor and Tychus.

    So back to my question. I wanted to ask your thought's about Cho'Gall. When we play against him, should we focus him first during a teamfight or is it better to seperate him somehow from his teammates and try to go in for their damage dealers like a kael'thas for example?

    Oh yeah, been in some match that I couldn't see what was going on on the screen. There were so many effects and I didn't even know what came from my team and what came from the enemies. I think that game we had two Abathur clone in both teams. That was a hot mess.

    I know this is late but i just want to give my 2 cent on what i do in a situation like this. I'm a diablo main and my main focus in any fight is to create openings for my team to go in on. you have to think ahead and say ok, i got lets say, orphea and valla as your deeps and they have a greymane and a varian. as long i can control varian and keep the tanks away from my deeps, my team would win the fight. but hots is a game of dice where a perfect strategy can be ruined by one well placed ability.

    If I'm Tyrael and we have a 2nd tank, I just go attack the enemy healer, even if i'm not dealing enough damage to kill them fast enough I'm scaring them away from the battle giving my teammates a chance to kill the rest.

    i tried getting into this channel but it just isn't working for me. I find that the videos give relatively little concrete and useful information regarding the presented topic compared to the length of it and the way it is initially portrayed. For example, in this video you've given more of an overview of what stukov's and tyrael's best next steps were in that given fight than a guide of "how to not get lost in team fights". The closest information to that was the suggestion of simply practicing and partaking in team fights, which is already in itself something people inherently know and are aware of.

    • @NotParadox

      I do short videos as well. Quick 2-3 minute videos on combos, but they just don't get promoted by youtube. So even though I make them, you may never see them. My hour long guide from aba has like 2000 views, my quick alexstraza combo which was like 2 minutes has like 200 views.
      This one certainly isn't my best video and I am improving. I am trying to sneak in more content into the videos, but in some videos the concept is simple, but it needs to be explained in a few different ways. I will get better at it.
      Either way, thanks for the feedback I'll do my best to work on presenting more concrete information. I try to get that out earlier for those who just wanted that, then I go more indepth for those who just like my reasoning.

      NotParadox nice one! I like your videos, but agree with above.
      I think your viewers would see a lot of value in a role by role breakdown in chaotic teamfights as opposed to specific heroes’ reach and danger zones in specific situations.
      I.e. as a tank your job is to peel for you DDs, zone, watch team CDs - are you a solo tank? then peel - are you double bruiser? then zone off their healer (a more important role) or >2 assassins.
      Dps should avoid the mistake of gluing to a tank in a hectic team fight (common newb mistake) and look for value targets if you’re not being dived.
      Then you could do individual support teamfight videos as you understand them a lot more nuanced i.e. when are you engaging/playmaking on Malf or when do you just focus on keeping regrowth up and pinging moonfire from as far back as possible; keeping roots for an alt cast to counter dive unless you can secure a solo straggler kill if they retreat etc.

    • @geminirox8635
      @geminirox8635 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yea the few videos i've seen the titles definitely don't match the content too well. "analysis of a teamfight" would make more sense than "how to not get lost in a team fight". or "why do pro players pick x" when the title should be "watching a pro player play x"
