    I've seen this drummer live many times in the past two years. I think he is a fantastic player and a really nice humble guy. I wish people would stop comparing him to the other drummers Steven Wilson had, we know it now, you've had your 15mins of fame now just STFU if you have nothing nice to say. I like all drummers Steven has had, they're all unique. Just support each other dammit! Is that too much to ask for?! Great video, keep going Craig! 💪

    Craigs like a kid in a candy shop with these cymbals. How awesome is it to get paid to do what you love. Crisp and tight as always Craig.

      @@SoonerAce311 well since I made the first comment, my kit is now all 2002s, the 19, 21, and 22 big beats, and a 14 crash on top of a 70s paiste bottom, the sound of those two is phenomenal

    What is the combo of the PSTX/Black China cymbal on the right side? 18" 900 series China and a 14" Swiss thin crash? It sounded pretty cool!

    Pretty cool, I use as few drums and cymbals as I can though. There is such a slight difference in pitch in all these stacks and splashes that in my mind it’s like what’s the point? That is part of the charm though, it’s almost like this selection of cymbals is a keyboard like those cup chimes and stacks are all different keys. Idk at this point I’m just rambling... sick set up!

      No offense but this guy can't hold a candle to Gavin Harrison, He's not fluid in his movements. Can't understand why Steven Wilson would downgrade from PT. He even had Marco Minnemann for a time and still got this overrated awkward fake. I can't even listen Steven Wilson's music anymore because the drums are uninspiring. This guy even copies the cup chimes that Gavin Harrison uses. I see a few chops but not much else in his playing.

      They are different and totally their own players. Craig is amazing, and so is Gavin. Love the keyboard warriors who come on here and slag people off when they clearly have no knowledge of what they're talking about - and what's worse, they have no class. Craig's reply here is brilliant - he has nothing to prove to anyone, he's the one out there playing the gigs with incredible musicians and making a living from it. Others sit behind their kits dishing out unwarranted and unfounded supposed "criticism", which by its nature suggest critical thinking - something the keyboard warriors lack. That, and basic humility and manners.

      Not a keyboard warrior been drummer for 46 years. just speaking my opinion was kind of brutal I suppose so I apologize but I don't see the element in his playing that makes him a top echelon type player. I respect people who play any instrument and put a lot of work and time into it but what sets him apart and puts him in the same category as a Gavin Harrison or Marco Minnemann or others? Not saying he's a bad drummer obviously better than myself but people keep putting comparisons out there and he's just not at that high level which is amazing because Steven Wilson has incredible musicians playing with him but no matter what he does he'll never have the chemistry that he had with porcupine even if Mike Mangini, Thomas Lang, Virgil Donati etc was his drummer I still don't think better than Gavin Harrison. Yes they have incredible chops and speed but the musicality they're playing and how it complements the music is what I look for in a player. The drummer is much more than a timekeeper or metronome otherwise get a drum machine!

    • @Summervibes12-t5z
      @Summervibes12-t5z 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robhuskey2276 Cheers Rob. That was a nicer reply lol. Craig plays at an incredibly high level - especially compared to me or you (although you could be awesome so apologies if so.) You're talking about technical proficiency and musicality and feel and fit in the same breath, comparing Craig to Gavin and Marco, but then you say that you don't think even a Marco would fit with PT. I kind of get what you are saying but Steven Wilson himself said recently that his touring band for the To the Bone tour was his favourite he'd ever played with, which obviously includes Craig, so he must be doing something right. I do think the chemistry PT had with Gavin in the band was something very special and will likely never be replicated but Craig clearly has a place in the musical sphere that Wilson currently finds himself in. He must think there is chemistry - he is too experienced to not know what he wants, and what works. Anyway, it's all subjective. I've been playing 30 years myself and am trying to distance myself from the "competition" part of drumming. As Gavin Harrison once said himself, "I'm impressed by technique, but I'm not moved by it."
