Been a Zildjian guy for 35 years. Bought a Nicky Moon ride a few years ago other than that always Zildjian. I recently bought a used 22 masters dark and at first playing it I thought well that sounds like my Zildjians until I did a comparison. It had everything my Zildjian rides did not have. It was crazy all this time searching and I was just not willing to try other brands. I now have a 22 dark energy mark ll ride and holy mother these two rides could replace my other 9 Zildjians. I am blown away by these two rides and cannot wait to explore more of them. 🥁🔥
As an Estonian, who also plays Paiste, it's unbelievably cool to see a kit in Estonian flag colours and still hear a small Estonian accent in the way Erik Paiste speaks English. Best cymbal company in the world inside and out!
No, I'm not a drummer, but I've been playing guitar in bands for forty years and I can tell you I've always been happy when working with drummers who use Paiste cymbals because they just sound better for me and cut through a mix at just the right frequency. They also look darn wonderful! Great video! Interesting company history.
I switched to Paiste in 1979 when I was THE only guy I knew who used them. I was 18 then, and I've never looked back. 38 cymbals and 40 years later, I still feel like a kid in a candy store when I see a bunch of Paistes. I'm more than proud to have been all Paiste all these years. Now if I could just get a handle on my cymbal addiction.......

The Paiste History The Paiste Sound Story begins at the turn of the century. Russia 1901-1916 Michail Toomas Paiste, a composer and musician, whose father had come from Estonia to serve in the Tsarist Guard, founds a publishing business and music store in St. Petersburg. The operation, which also includes modest instrument manufacturing and repair facilities, flourishes for many years until the upheavals of the Russian Revolution force its closing.
You missed an opportunity! Paiste has always marketed themselves as having a consistent sound. There’s the scene with the master cymbal, and a whole bunch of new cymbals. Why would you not let us hear how all those cymbals compared to the master? It would be great to hear just exactly how close those new pies matched the sound of the original. Instead dialogue walks right over the sound of the cymbals, and we don’t actually hear how close they match.
I totally agree. Something similar happened when he is at the showroom. I would love to listen to the cymbals only, but there is background music going on along.

Thanks to Jared and Drumeo for giving me the experience of re-living a great day. Thank you to Paiste for allowing me the rare opportunity of the tour and the demonstration of what goes into the making of your very fine cymbals. It is a day I will never forget. Thank you to Renato Mueller, who was my awesome tour guide. Cheers from Canada, Danny

Great video, I play the PAISTE Signatures, 2002s, Dark Energy set and the Whole formula 602 Modern Essentials Set . PAISTe cymbals sound and playing them is the best. Hey Jared, I really loved this great video of the PAISTe factory. Thank you for inspiring me to play and switch from Zildjian to PAISTE cymbals for the rest of my drumming life. That had to of been one incredible experience, The whole trip must have been a blast and experience you will never forget. Thank You again. Colin cave
In reality 90% of the Paiste series are automated machine-hammered sheet cymbals, most of them in "2002" bronze , B8 anyway - only a few series in B20 , or hand hammered , Paiste is the most "automated" cymbal company out there man
I had the pleasure of visiting Paiste in Switzerland, played the giant gong, they gave me a bunch of merch & a bag of apples from the nearby farm. Superb!
This is my dream vacation! Really enjoyed this video, Paiste are so great. Ps I have an alternate caption for the cow bit: “Hello I’m Johnny Knoxville and this is the Matador Drum Solo”
I once did a cymbal/recording experiment. I used two condenser mics, very flat out to 20K. The mic placement made HUGE differences, but one thing shocked me; I hit it medium hard, on the edge, waited for the harmonics to die down, THEN I put the mic 2 inches away from it, in the center, underneath. When I played it back, I was SHOCKED at the low bass tone I heard! It was a Paiste, 20" crash/ride, and when I played it back the bass tone had to be about 30 HZ!
Genuinely a good watch. Been playing again for 2 years. Just upgraded my dustbin lids for Paiste Rock PST8s . I shall enjoy every beat a whole lot more knowing this is how they came about. Cheers Jared
There are ...literally just a few cymbal manufacturers. They all do well... it is impressive how deep they all are. It makes sense that there are only a few.
I think Paiste is the best cymbal I've ever played. I can spot them instantly in a recording. It might have been my favorite band of all time (Stone Temple Pilots) that got me hooked on that sound. Got the PST 7 box 2 weeks ago and they are phenomenal.
I played drums on Dave Cputts version of Saturday, and yes I played Paiste (have for 30 years). If you find it on TH-cam, I played: 13" Signature Dark Crisp Hi Hats 16" Signature Fast Crash 17" Signature Fast Crash I also had a 20" Signature Dry Ride, and 20" 3000 China Type on the kit, but didn't use them on that track. I always loved the DeLeos music with any of the singers they worked with, but Dave is my absolute favorite.

Thinking about it it's mental how many of my favourite drummers or drummers of my favourite bands play Paiste cymbals... Great documentary once again, very interesting to see how those cymbals are made and how they make sure that everyone gets a cymbals that sounds the same and has the same quality!
In my experience, Paiste Cymbals are my favorite. They are crisp and very clear. While other cymbals sound harsh and clangy, Paiste is my go to for cymbals and hi-hats.

I bought my first brand new cymbal from Guitar Center in San Francisco way back in 1983. It was a 22" Paiste RUDE Ride/Crash and I still have it. I went on to collect a whole set of RUDEs - the first in the Bay Area - and I have bought nothing but Paiste cymbals since. My latest acquisitions are a pair of Twenty Series Full Hi Hats and a matching 20" Ride. They are the best sounding cymbals I have ever heard. Why would I play anything else? Paiste make the best cymbals in the World!
Hey Jared! I just viewed the Paistie documentary for the first time. I have to say that it was one of the best and most interesting shows i've seen in a long time. Great job sir. I use to have some a Paiste alphas and pst years ago. I have the paiste rudes now they are my absolute favorites. I also as second runner up love the 2002 series.
I've actually been looking into getting a 22"2002 ride.Never had a Paiste brand cymbal, been using Sabien AAX Stage series for over 20yrs,and they've served me very well throughout hundreds of gigs, tours recording studios, etc.Best one I ever used was a 22" Zildjian Avedis Turkish ride that sounded absolutely amazing.Unfortately I cracked it during several takes on a recording, but man you can hear it on the album.🤖📡😊

How in God's name can you afford that? You're obviously not a working musician cuz we don't make that much money unless you're an endorsed player
This was better than the Zildjian factory which all seemed automated.
thats whyi like k's over a's. hand hammered, not machine.
depends on which Zildjian. Seems like all of Paiste's cymbals are started off as sheet metal cut offs vs stamped cast metals.
That's why Paiste Is better
In reality 90% of the Paiste series are automated machine-hammered sheet cymbals, most of them in "2002" bronze , B8 anyway - only a few series in B20 , or hand hammered , Paiste is the most "automated" cymbal company out there man
@@stoplookingatmeplease1230 You need to review your definition of 'automated'.
I did an outside gig near a cow pasture once. During the soundcheck, they all came running up to the fence. lol
I still wonder why those cows are so calm. Are they drugged or something? :)
the most creative documentary I've ever watched in Life.
I had the pleasure of visiting Paiste in Switzerland, played the giant gong, they gave me a bunch of merch & a bag of apples from the nearby farm. Superb!
Love seeing great craftsmen still creating these works of art!
I just love when you play outside, like you did in the Sonor documentary. It makes drumming sooo organic. ;-)
I switched to Paiste the last year after 35 years of playing Sabian and Zildjian. Honestly I would never change or go back to another brand. 😘😘😘
This is my dream vacation! Really enjoyed this video, Paiste are so great.
Ps I have an alternate caption for the cow bit:
“Hello I’m Johnny Knoxville and this is the Matador Drum Solo”
I like that!
We'd love to see you again in our beautiful country!
Another great story-tour from Jared and his crew from the awesome folks at PAISTe! Great sounding cymbals with a lot of dedicated workmanship indeed!
I cant only imagine the hard work and effort that went into this video. Thank you for doing it. Cheers!

A true professional.
I think Paiste is the best cymbal I've ever played. I can spot them instantly in a recording. It might have been my favorite band of all time (Stone Temple Pilots) that got me hooked on that sound. Got the PST 7 box 2 weeks ago and they are phenomenal.
STP are one of my favorites.
@WhoDarestheMAN gamer No.
I played drums on Dave Cputts version of Saturday, and yes I played Paiste (have for 30 years).
If you find it on TH-cam, I played:
13" Signature Dark Crisp Hi Hats
16" Signature Fast Crash
17" Signature Fast Crash
I also had a 20" Signature Dry Ride, and 20" 3000 China Type on the kit, but didn't use them on that track.
I always loved the DeLeos music with any of the singers they worked with, but Dave is my absolute favorite.
@@danlc95 Wow. Really cool, man. I checked that out. It's Glide. You sounded great, dude. This didn't show up in my notifications. I just came back to this video and luckily I saw this comment.
@@joelawson33 Thanks! Yeah they wrote it when Talk Show was touring. There's a live version floating around. Then when they got back with Scott they recorded it as Glide.
Thinking about it it's mental how many of my favourite drummers or drummers of my favourite bands play Paiste cymbals...
Great documentary once again, very interesting to see how those cymbals are made and how they make sure that everyone gets a cymbals that sounds the same and has the same quality!
Jared, love to hear you play. Drumeo member for life!!!
This series is amazing and this dude has the greatest job!
i mix paiste , zildjian and sabian, i have paiste rude ride cymbal, i had for 40 years sounds great.
I just loved this video so much! I guess I've never saw someone so happy in my life
Someday sooner than later I will own Paiste cymbals. Now I have Zidjian but the sound that made me fall in love with drums was a Paiste cymbal.
This was a super fun and educational video! Outstanding job Jared, and thanks to Paiste for the glimpse inside your masterwork!
Started with Sabian, moved up to Zildjian, then discovered Paiste 2002s. pure sonic bliss
How did i miss this? Cannot wait to watch this
In my experience, Paiste Cymbals are my favorite. They are crisp and very clear. While other cymbals sound harsh and clangy, Paiste is my go to for cymbals and hi-hats.
Jared looks so goofy when he’s doing those silly bits, like a whole child. I feel like you’re a pretty funny guy in person
Yeah that makes it better
Go paiste the best of the best
The look on your face Jared /tells All. Disneyland for drummer's . I love 💕 Paiste. Want a 22inch Signiture in Stewart Copeland. I once had a complete set of Signitures. I only have 1 Paiste Cymbal now.A 10inche Signiture. Love Formula 602s
THANK YOU - the big thing I learned is how to pronounce PAISTE..... GREAT video. Impressed with the craftsmanship, I play guitar and respect to ALL musical makers artists, luthiers, craftsmen and women for sure - Now that is talent
Jared! That was absolutely brilliant to watch! Thanks so much
I bought my first brand new cymbal from Guitar Center in San Francisco way back in 1983.
I'd love to hear the evolution of the sound of the cymbals through the different stages... Another great documentary, thank you!
Between being rolled flat and pressing the bell, the metal would shatter. After the bell is pressed, smack away 😆
Hey Jared! I just viewed the Paistie documentary for the first time. I have to say that it was one of the best and most interesting shows i've seen in a long time. Great job sir. It was very obvious that you had so much fun in Switzerland at the factory. You should really consider doing a talk show someday and feature interesting stuff for Drummers and others to view. I love your drumeo stuff too. Keep up the great work! T Y AND GOD BLESS FROM S.R.PURDY 🥁
After a few vids, this dork is really growing on me.
Jared, Danny Carey of Tool literally has a Paiste cymbal drum set that he plays with them. I saw it at their clinic in Philly. It's crazy...
They produced three kits: the one in the video, one for carey and one was bought by carl palmer if i'm not mistaken
Nothing sounds like the silvery signature series. Dark crisp. mmmm....
This was a pleasure to watch from start to finish! Now I love using Paiste cymbals even more! Thank you for creating this awesome video!
Thank you!
In my opinion, paiste is one of the best cymbal companies out there. Meinl still has a better extra dry and dark cymbal line though.
This is the greatest sounding cymbal ever! .....KLUNK!!! So good!!!
Paiste cymbals have a sound that soothes my ears above all others with Meinl an exception
@Rick Delair im a bit of a hoader with cymbals i have roughly 36 both Paiste and Meinl in B20, B10 and B8 series i just luv em👍👍
Really enjoying these videos. Great job Drumeo
É legal assistir esse vídeo, conhecer esse lugar e pensar, "meus pratos vieram daí..."
I love Paiste!!!!
Never imagine that my Wild Rude China went through all of that just to be made for people play it, its truelly beautiful!
Watching Jared play drums at the end while high is amazing.😂🎉🎉🎉
Very good video. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m surprised that it only has 91,000 views. Deserves more than that.
exited for this, big fan of PAISTE cymbals🤘🏻
I use to have some a
Paiste alphas and pst years ago. I have the paiste rudes now they are my absolute favorites. I also as second runner up love the 2002 series.
Your kit sounds amazing!
You should find a way to add that cymbal into your kit on the channel. At least sporadically. Let it be an Easter egg👍🏼
Finally completed my set of Paiste Rudes! Best cymbals I've ever owned-HEAVY METAL🤘🔥🤘🔥
Erich Wuest: Here is a craftsman who clearly loves what he does! 7:22
Nice vídeo, specially for us, Paiste fans/users all over the world. And Jared, very nice playing in the end, really cool . Loved your aproach to the music.
That has to be one of the best sounding (and most expensive- seriously) kits I've ever seen
Jarod you lucky dog. Did you ever think Drumeo would turn into this? Pretty cool.
I never knew how much I wanted a solid cast kick drum until now.
Superb Paiste documentary...... I am endorsed with Paiste, and I use the "Signature Series" which are some of the BEST sounding cymbals I have ever owned!.....Great job Drumeo/Jared...Thanks!
