  • Now that its all back together and running, it's time to figure out exactly what this cost us. Budget builds can sometimes be pretty costly, how much did this one cost?

I've been down the carb road.....not doing that again. I have almost the same setup as you but I have P heads being the only difference. My car is completely apart now but I will deal with the stock ecu until I can't then go either Terminator X, HP or Dominator depending on how crazy I decide to take it.

My mustang was already carb swapped when I bought it. It’s definitely what I prefer and easier to tune compared to using stock ecu.

I got an explorer engine from a junk yard complete throttle body to oil pain pulled and placed in my truck with a warranty for 400 and that’s what I put in one of my fox cars. It’s a gt40p engine. It had 205-208 compression across all cylinders so I tore into it all new bearings ho cam for now shorty headers etc definitely best way to go.

Really well done. classic old school stuff - the iron GT40 heads have large chambers, 65CC so static compression is down from the E7's. I think the lunati 218/226 cam would run stronger but not sure if it costs more. some home portwork, good valve job and shave .030 off the heads would help a ton. I would save and reuse pushrods, find a set of stock rockers that are serviceable, clean and reuse lifters to use that money for the head machining. porting the lower intake some will wake it up even further! cannot wait to see it at the track! should be a ripper

Carb makes it a lot simpler. I’m working on a buddy’s car and we installed a terminator X, it isn’t plug and play, that’s BS. Every sensor has to be programmed, timing, decent vacuum…massive cam phuks that up and a lot lot lot of Holley tuning learning has to sink into our brains…. Would have been done tuning a carb in a few hours, Holley, we’re on our 2nd month… and this is whiling having guys come over that know how to tune Holley…we’re finding something new every day! lol but, I have to say, the Holley does a lot and will be worth it when our learning curve level out.

Warms up in traffic, check the fan operation. Are fans wired for low/high? Small chance, if running lean, it could run warmer. Perhaps use the fans on high, and raise the fuel pressure if plugs look lean (Kirban adj fpr, if need).
