I'm getting my knee finished tomorrow and I'm so thankful for my artist being so, so clean. She loves to listen to music while she tattoos. She has a dedicated stand that attaches to her light that houses her phone. She sprays her phone down before each session and applies that sticky, sterile film stuff that dentists wrap on the handle of their stuff over the phone so she can push the buttons, etc. That may seem small, but its little things like that a lot of people wouldn't think of but people who are knowledgeable and care do think of
Lol, how cool! I’m Art the tattoo artist in this show! Omg I almost forgot about this….. ask me the questions and I’ll give you all the low down on the show.
When I was looking to get my first tattoo, I went to a studio where the artist looked me up and down, pulled a disgusted face and said: *"I don’t have time for you."* I'm plus sized and was looking to get about 22+ tattoos in total and recommend them to my family who also wanted to get tattoos. The artist being unprofessional made me turn around and leave. I found out later through other artsist and a google dive through reviews that the studio and artist had a terrible track record of beng rude and condescending to clients as well s producing shoddy work and not keeping the shop and stations clean. I'm so relieved that I found my current artist, he's awesome and the shop is spotless

Being in the red is being in debt, being in the black is making profits. Fun fact- thats why black friday here in the states is called that. Its the first pretty much guaranteed day businesses will be in the black in their fiscal year.
The revamp was a bit odd to me too. I would’ve made reception smaller and made small private tattoo rooms, a piercing room and a drawing/consult room behind reception, and a staff room at the very back for breaks. That they kept the tattoo area so small seemed silly to me. 🤷🏼
Aside from the tattoo artist themselves keeping their station as sanitised as possible, there should be another person that helps keep the studio as clean as possible. I'm mid 60's and have more than 50 years of being tattooed. In the better studios I have been to the receptionist also cleans. The receptionist generally keeps the reception and waiting area clean and when they are not welcoming clients they take up the slack, helping keep the actual tattoo stations clean. For instance in this example the receptionist should be using spray and wipe sanitiser on any surfaces that may get overlooked. Such as moving equipment and cleaning underneath...sanitising the base of chairs and under benches etc.
“Just because these kids can’t handle their own-“ MA’AM lmao you didn’t hire people to run this place for you! You hired artists. YOU’RE the manager. What on earth do you imagine your job is, if not to actively manage this shop and these artists??

I worked at just deadly from 2017-2020 at the pico rivera location , did my “apprenticeship” with red the new owner who bought just deadly from patty who’s now in Texas with another shop
Also when they moved locations patty painted the second location red and yellow again lmao , the Whittier location is now uptown tattoo a very nice shop completely different than the just deadly set up
Adding to this, that setup is what I would have expected them to do with the Whittier location in the show. Using all that space to have real room for the artists. Everything looks nice and bright, too.
I don't think ANYONE in a professional situation should be eating infront of their clients. Imagine if you were at the Accountant and they just pulled out their lunch onto all your paperwork 😂 My artist will have a lolly or something but will wait until shes changing gloves for some reason.
Definitely depends. Both of my tattoos have been me going with my mom and sister and we were all getting tattoos back to back, and my tattoo artist has stepped out in between (finished 1 tattoo, still had another 1 of ours to go) to go eat. To clarify, I would be appalled if she ate in the booth around the equipment or the tattoo bench, but she was eating outside her booth but in the same room as the booth. Essentially, I don't think it is unprofessional to eat within a client's line of sight, just as long as it makes sense for that break to be taken (such as a 3-4 hour session that overlaps with standard meal times) and it is done in a hygienic way that doesn't contaminate your work (whether it's a tattoo booth or client paperwork in the accountant example).
@@hailyjohnson407 I couldn't have said it more perfectly than you just did 🧡 I still want my artist to eat, just not near my open wound 😅 I've even been wrapped up and temporarily left the shop to go eat during a day session.

The old Whittier location has another tattoo shop in there called uptown tattoos, and the business moved and has a new owner called Red. Learned that from a comment a little above this one (if sorted by top comments).
I loved this show when it was out. I was in my 30s and had already gotten several tattoos in the late 90s, early 2000s. The work was really good for the time. I'm sure my Celtic cross would not be impressive by today's standards but I got it in 2009 and it was extremely good work. And it's held up to this day. But it definitely doesn't look like the art we see today and that's ok for me because I didn't get it in 2024. My tattoos are like time capsules. They reflected the art at the time and I love the variation in styles.
Wait, this is basically Bar Rescue, but with tattoo shops!? This sounds amazing, and also scary. I can’t imagine what horrors this show will expose, but I’m ready for it!
the whole time i was wondering what they do for clients getting tattoos in private areas like they don’t even have space to put up a partition for privacy???
That back room at the end was questionable😬😬 a red and yellow room with dim lighting is not good for drawing at all, even if they were using an iPad which were just maybe catching on in the industry at that time. Not to mention the actual tattoo studio space was also really dim which I think would be a huge strain on your eyes over time. Maybe they use smaller lights to illuminate the clients as they work on them but I also personally find lights like that hard to do art in since it’s harsh and casts shadows from your hands/tools. Overall they didn’t really fix most of the problems, the square footage distribution was still awful it was mostly just a change of aesthetics. I know I’m being critical but all that said, I love a fairly low stakes drama show! I’d love to see you cover more!
It wasn't as common to wrap tattoos back then. My first several tattoos were never wrapped, and one of them was from Body Electric (great shop! Brian's so sweet and a top notch piercer!) right around then. But if her ink *was* fresh, then she just touched it with her her finger in front of a professional on tv 😬
Not the be the bearer of bad news, but as a NJ native, it is my duty: that is not a NJ accent lol. It's a NYC Jewish/Italian accent, which is common in NJ because NYers either don't want or can't afford to live in NYC anymore and move across the Hudson to northern NJ. The farther south you go in NJ the more that accent disappears and gets replaced by a more standard trans-atlantic American one. ANYWAY I hadn't heard of this show but my parents watched Bar Rescue with Jon Taffer all the time. It's kind of hilarious how they follow the exact same format and script, right down to the no-nonsense NY/NJ host lmao
As someone from nj, I was going to comment that about the accent, too, lol… I live in mid/southern jersey on the shore, and I have a slight accent but nothing like this guy lol…
As someone also from Jersey… I think it depends. When he’s agitated, he sounds like a New Yorker, but I’m originally from the Philly area with most of my family in Atlantic City. When he’s talking normally, I can hear the Jersey accent for sure.
I actually really enjoy these cheesy reality type shows. This was a fun one to watch! Ps. Lauren, your look is immaculate today! 💯😍 the makeup, hair, and clothes combo... perfection!
I think it's important to note with tattoos and piercings you are trusting people with your body. So little things like thr piercer fumbling around grabbing things doesn’t fill you with confidence. Piercers I've reccomend ut was because I felt safe in their hands.
Never been to LA but honestly good on Body Electric for still being around and being so relevant many places go there to film tattoo content, I remember them from BuzzFeed and other youtubers' videos back in the day
Piercing apprentice here and I absolutely LOVED hearing you talk about how amazing quality jewelry is!!! BVLA is amazing and the lifetime warranty that quality jewelry companies offer just cannot be beat ☺️
I just tried to check her linkedin again but there’s nothing on it anymore, so I think she removed it after this video😬 I know there was a pretty recent update when I made the comment tho, sooo
I like the green a lot better than the red but the way it’s decorated on their Instagram at the end is really pretty!! Also the daughter and the girl with pink hair are both SO pretty
This is just purely speculation, but California (or at least Southern California) has a lot of legal stuff when it comes to alterations of buildings, which might explain why the studio still looks fairly small. They usually have to go through the city, contractors, etc. to knock down walls, or do any form of construction to a building. They have to make sure the site isn’t “a historical landmark”, or anything like that. And sometimes it can take weeks to get those permits. Heck, I have to legally get a permit/sign-off from a city representative and contractor before I can even install a different toilet in my home (I live about 1-2 hours outside of LA). So that might be a (possible) explanation as to why the studio still looks fairly small. Would love for your to do more of these, if you feel so included! :)
That part of the city is historic so they do have a lot of rules about altering certain buildings because of that. They’ve been fixing a lot of them up in recent years tho
Is it just me, or is the tattoo area way too dark? I feel like working there for a long time will make the artist eyesight bad. I used to work in a dark place, and my eyesight is not nearly as good as it was when I started there.
I think the fine he's talking about in regards to eating is something that would be a local ordinance and not something all shops would be subject to unless they were in that locality.
Hi Lauren, your channel has become a comfort channel to me over the last few months and i missed you during your break. So glad you're back and doing great ❤❤
This is so wild to have seen because I know this shop! I knew of it briefly while it was still at this location but i didnt go until it moved and got under new (artist owned) ownership. Its run VERY well now and everyone is super chill and lovely!

27:15 when my daughter was 6, (a few years ago) she asked to get her ears pierced for Christmas. That was always something I wanted to be her choice, but when she asked I was all for it. I did so much research, and I knew I didn't want to bring her to some cheap place where someone who barely knows what their doing is just using a piercing gun with sketchy jewelry... I found a great piercing studio that just happened to be 15min from home, and they were fantastic!! Beautiful, high quality jewelry, friendly and lovely people, and soo clean and welcoming. I also loved that they brought in 2 piercers and pierced my daughter's ears simultaneously. They had marked them out, had her look in the mirror and ok it.. it was so sweet. As little as she was, they completely treated her as the client. 10/10 experience, so it's worth doing research, looking around, and taking your time!
Love this guy's regional accent, regional accents here in the US are very hit-or-miss, but the northeast has the best accents in my opinion! I've never heard of this show but it looks great, I love Gordon Ramsay's Hotel Hell because it includes drama beyond just the kitchen! This looks like a fun series!
At my tattoo appointments I have been greeted, spent some time sitting in the waiting area talking to the receptionist when she isn't busy. The tattoo artist is setting up or cleaning between clients before me. Usually they will say hi and go for a cig or a drink or a snack before they take me for my appointment. We talk for a bit about the plans. He does the draw up or the printing etc and then tattoo gets done after time of him preparing the inks and his hands and such and then we go. Usually they go about half way take a 15 to 20 minute break and then we continue again. Actually had a tattoo artist say he will have 30 mins and I can go for a walk etc just been the tattoo covered (he'd give stuff to cover it) Always a great time at the place I go.
I've never eaten during a tatt or had a drink. When we've had a break, yes but not during. Thinking about it, I did drink a coke in the studio space with my last tatt, but I was pretty spaced out by then and the artist suggested we stop and I have something sweet to drink so I wasn't really thinking.
After thinking I could listen to your voice/accent all day and night long because of how beautiful it is, You go and say one of your favorite accents is from NJ. Born in Cali, Moved to NJ at 3yrs old (55) now. I don't even think I have an accent I live in Nova Scotia half the year, Everyone here reminds me I have a accent, And say how much they love it. Lol New subscriber ,Love listening to you talk. Getting my first Tattoo next month when back in NJ.
This was so much fun!! I didnt know this show existed! would absolutely love to watch the rest with you and see if the rest of the shops are also still in business!
I have to admitt, that i am not a fan when the tattoo area is without any privacy. What if there is a delicate spot or a client has to partially undress? Every walk in client will see me exposed like this. And if one is there for a longer 6 hour tattoo, everybody can watch you suffer or squirm. Some kind of visual blockage would have been nice or at least one station for more intimate areas for people who do not like to be exposed so much.

Wait, this is basically Bar Rescue, but with tattoo shops!? This sounds amazing, and also scary. I can’t imagine what horrors this show will expose, but I’m ready for it!
whoa. didn’t expect this to take place “down the street” from me. Whittier?! wow. and suddenly i’m not just listening but watching too. LOL
the whole time i was wondering what they do for clients getting tattoos in private areas like they don’t even have space to put up a partition for privacy???
It's kind of hilarious how they follow the exact same format and script, right down to the no-nonsense NY/NJ host lmao
he is 100% from nj I worked for him about 20 yrs ago and he's always lived here. it's a hudson co native-
As someone from nj, I was going to comment that about the accent, too, lol… I live in mid/southern jersey on the shore, and I have a slight accent but nothing like this guy lol…
I think it’s more common in north jersey bc it’s so close to ny :)
As someone also from Jersey… I think it depends. When he’s agitated, he sounds like a New Yorker, but I’m originally from the Philly area with most of my family in Atlantic City. When he’s talking normally, I can hear the Jersey accent for sure.
@@missyrivas8623 I didnt say hes not from jersey, i said that accent is just a NY accent that scooted a little south/east
I actually really enjoy these cheesy reality type shows. This was a fun one to watch!
Ps. Lauren, your look is immaculate today! 💯😍 the makeup, hair, and clothes combo... perfection!
I love how when she does impressions, she does the tone of voice mannerisms but DOESNT MOCK THEIR ACCENT! Thank you.!!!
I think it's important to note with tattoos and piercings you are trusting people with your body. So little things like thr piercer fumbling around grabbing things doesn’t fill you with confidence. Piercers I've reccomend ut was because I felt safe in their hands.
Never been to LA but honestly good on Body Electric for still being around and being so relevant many places go there to film tattoo content, I remember them from BuzzFeed and other youtubers' videos back in the day
"Puke green walls"
Man isn't down with Type O Negative
excited to watch your video while I'm snuggled under my blanket hihi 👀🥰✨
Yaaaay!!! 🥰
Same! ☕
Piercing apprentice here and I absolutely LOVED hearing you talk about how amazing quality jewelry is!!! BVLA is amazing and the lifetime warranty that quality jewelry companies offer just cannot be beat ☺️
she’s still the owner according to her linkedin!!
loved the video btw, such a fun reaction✨
It's so strange. Tried looking for any sign of her on the IG. But I wonder if she's abandoned her LinkedIn after all this time?
I just tried to check her linkedin again but there’s nothing on it anymore, so I think she removed it after this video😬
I know there was a pretty recent update when I made the comment tho, sooo
Lovely to see you back Lauren and with nearly an hour long video you spoil us ❤ am reaching for my cosy blanket now ....
Do people just decide to open a business and think it will just run itself because it seems like it. 😂
She thought it was a license to print money.
yup. restaurants, tattoo parlors, bars, bowling alleys, nail salons... leisure shops are classic bad manager fodder
"It's so fake.... But I love it so much!!" ~a complete vibe ❤
Honestly I miss these messy low stakes drama shows, they were always such a fun watch. Glad to see you covering them :D
As a fellow lover of trash tv, this was so fun to watch! I have a big chest tattoo appointment this Friday and been binging your content 😅
This is like the tattoo studio version of Tabatha’s salon takeover and I’m here for it! ❤😂
Please do continue this tattoo shop rescue series. I’ve never heard of it but it’s right up my alley too! ❤👍
Much needed content! Was supposed to be going to a convention this weekend and was going to get a few new tattoos, but my knee has completely messed up so I'm on sofa/bed rest for the foreseeable 😢
Yay I got my blanket and my cuppa tea ready ❤❤
I have a tattooist in England that won't let you eat or drink in the tattoo room
Your axolotl collection tho 🥹🥰
Like the video everybody
🫶🏻
You welcome
I really enjoyed watching this. I would 100% watch more of these if you react to other episodes.
I can’t wait for the rest of this series with you reacting, I love it!
Looking at that beautiful space (in SOCAL no less) be so ugly is killing me 😭 That's not just bad management, that's throwing money in the incinerator
It’s now uptown tattoo and it looks amazing and it’s a money factory 😅
2012 was such a year for iconic weird and strange tv shows like this and i MISS IT
I loved this! Please do more reactions to tattoo rescue as this is my favourite type of reality tv! 😆
Yes please react to more episodes of this show i love it!! ❤
I'd love to see more of you reacting to this!! This was a fun watch :)
This is the tattoo version of bar rescue, im here for it and love it!
Haha as someone with a half Boston/half New York accent, I’m glad someone likes them! 😂
I'm watching your older videos from 6 and 5 years ago, and it's awesome how much you changed and not changed at the same time.
I enjoyed this so much! Yes please, do more episodes 😍
Really enjoyed watching this! The show was quite entertaining. Definitely need more of it please with your reactions and commentary😊
I would love it if you watch more of this. I love this show!
The tattoo shop i have been going to for a while is in a very small unit but it is cozy and ran well.
Actually had a tattoo artist say he will have 30 mins and I can go for a walk etc just been the tattoo covered (he'd give stuff to cover it)
Always a great time at the place I go.
Lauren I am loving this look!! Hair, makeup, outfit, all of it! You’re looking so good ❤
This was so much fun! They need to bring that show back!
NGL did not expect to see one of my stomping grounds in Whittier showcased in the first five minutes of this video ! HAH what a small world.
I don't even think I have an accent
I live in Nova Scotia half the year, Everyone here reminds me I have a accent, And say how much they love it. Lol
New subscriber ,Love listening to you talk. Getting my first Tattoo next month when back in NJ.
Hellll yeah New Jersey !!!!!! 🩷
This is maybe the best tattoo tv show I have ever seen.
trash tv ha ha love it ! looking fierce lady x
Isn’t trash just the best!!! Thank you 🫶🏻
This was so much fun!! I didnt know this show existed! would absolutely love to watch the rest with you and see if the rest of the shops are also still in business!
This was the Entertainment I didn't know I needed today
Yes please more reactions to this show!
I watched this awhile ago I went through a phase of watching these sorts of shows tabitha takeover, bar rescue, hotel rescue etc
We need to see you doing the entire series ❤
Yes Lauren! Love this show, would love to see more xx
They definitely moved location. In the show they were at 12905 on whatever boulevard and now they at 6686 of whatever other boulevard.
I love this video! I hope you will do this with all the episodes :))
Would definitely enjoy this as a reaction series Lauren ❤
I never hear of this show either very interesting.
I was going to sleep but I guess one more video can't hurt.... 👀
That was fun. Also the google investigating to see if they still exist was hilarious.
I never watched this show specifically but I remember shows like this being the rage 10-15 years ago.
