    Nice video. I did it a similar way to you. Put 10mm lowering. Tip I saw form bws if you undo the top hat and crack off the shock nut before you pick up the car the put the top hat back on a few turns.
    And same in revers when fitting. 👍

    Just fitted B6 struts, new springs and Bilstein top mounts. Still have a bit of a gap. Would powerflex top mounts eliminate the gap? Not sure I can be arsed to change them again though...lol

  • @luizthuy

    Didn’t think it was possible that way! When I had mine done it cost me £220 in labour and they still messed it up! That’s why I do everything myself now 👍

    Well done for pulling off the short cut Chris....do those new top mounts make for a firmer/ more rigid ride???

      @CarChris82  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate 👍🏻 I don't really feel any difference tbh but maybe because it has got uprated suspension on it anyway 🤔

    The way it looked *before you had about 10mm gap, when you change the top mounts did the car lift with 10mm as well or stays as before?
    Thanks :)

    Hi bud, does coil overs make any difference to o the process?

    • @CarChris82
      @CarChris82  ปีที่แล้ว

      It shouldn't do as long as you can compress the spring to get the tension of the top 👍🏻

    Any tips for undoing the top mount bolts without an impact gun ?

    • @CarChris82
      @CarChris82  ปีที่แล้ว

      Use a big spark plug socket whixh you can grip the end and a long hex i think its a 6mm

    Not sure if greasing the bush is good idea ... its not meant to turn against the body and it sits on a bearing which rotates so where is this grease helping ?

    • @CarChris82
      @CarChris82  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the grease that comes with it is more to stop it from creaking been driving it for about a week with no ill effect

    • @simongoodwin4360
      @simongoodwin4360 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they’re renowned for creaking unless you grease them properly

    • @CarChris82

    • @tomasznowakowski7680
      @tomasznowakowski7680 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would put that down to uncleaned mating surfaces. Again bush isn't meant to move against body but with grease your gonna help it do so.

    • @TTAutowerks94
      @TTAutowerks94 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do understand what you're saying here.. but it's usually the case with most other bushes, like a trailing arm bush. The only place of movement should be between the pin and the bush.. the outer surface of the bush should be a good connected surface to the inner trailing arm. Then the inner pin stays still with the bolt pinching the pin. So the bush must move on the pin.
      It's not really the same with a top mount, although I would agree the surface between the bush and bearing should be dry and clean so it grabs.. but I would grease a little on the underside of the chassis where bush meets

    Did same job on mine, but Powerflex mount is more than stiff. Had to remove them and replace by oem mount.
