Thanks Jan, all being well I'll be out shortly (once it's dark) to record on both after dark, then record the first nighttime footage with the TNC225R... hopefully there will be some rabbits about. 🤞🤓
Thank-you and thanks for watching. I'm guessing there's not enough demand to make the non-LRF version. Before Zulus there was the non-LRF Hittac CP258 (with fixed IR), but that then became the ZHD520R (with IR). Cheers. Russ
Man I hope ArkenUSA catches up with the UK as far as different MOA base availability and with the release of the ThermNight. They'll sell a TON of 'em in the states. Thanks for the vid!
Perhaps AF would add too much more mechanism/bulk. Ah DNT prioritised other projects, so the remote is shelved for now; sorry. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
I'd say somewhere between the two, but the image can change slightly as you switch between light and dark scenes. Thank-you and thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
Hi Russ a great video as usual, the problem I have with the Zulus is the laser splash is way above reticle, would the eagle vision mount your using bring cross hairs up to laser splash with elevation at rear
Thank-you Keith. What MOA Zulus Picatinny mount are you using at present, and is your zeroed reticle vertically centred, or slightly high/low? Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
@@RussDouglas222 0 MOA Mate the main problem I have is the laser rangefinder is not reading field targets accurately for example 30 yards is reading 47 and so on this is because the laser splash viewed at night even on base 5 x Mag is way above scope reticle disappears altogether at higher mags I use the scope mostly in daytime so essential that the laser splash is as near to cross hairs as possible regards Keith
@@keithcruickshank5984 At night or in low light, watch where the LRF splash is relative to your reticle, then you'll know where to aim in daylight. Sadly there's currently no way to adjust the LRF aiming + to match the IR splash position.
Russ, need your help with this new DNT app. Cannot get it to show anything but the default settings. Could do with a step by step inx's as you had for the Arken Ballistic app. Tia
Hi Russ, would you have one of these over a Pard DS35-70 ? I've a mind to make the switch. I use a sub 12 for rats, but Ive been told the Arken is better in 520 flavour as its a better picture. Not sure whether I'd be better off with the 3-12 ? Ive shot rats down to 6 yards with the DS35-70. Looks like the Arken 5-20 would not go down that close.
@@formidable38 l definitely think you should try the ZHD520R and compare it to your DS35-70RF. I still have both a gen.1 DS35-50RF and a gen.2 DS35-70RF (that I bought), but I've only used the Zulus recently. 🤓 The ZHD520R focuses that close, but its LRF only ranges down to 10m (just like HIKMICRO LRFs), so that's how close the BCL works. The ZHD312R ranges down to 5m (one guy told me his ranges to 4yards), plus at base mag (3x) its FOV is significantly larger than the 520R... so for close range work the ZHD312R is the one you want. Thanks for watching (please share), cheers. Russ
@RussDouglas222 I think in that case , the 520 would be a deal breaker since i get alot of rats under 10 yards at times, and as you'll no doubt know, at that range in tge dark , the LRF is crucial. Being as i seldom use it for anything over 45 yards, i would be better suited to the 3-12. Thanks for the help Russ, much appreciated. Gary.
Hi Gary, towards the end that was my fault, I had the reticles (at X=0, Y=0) aligned @375m, but the respective scope LRFs don't quite point in the same direction, as one's just above-left of the reticle and t'other's below-left. So they couldn't measure the same range simultaneously without me realigning them. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
@@RussDouglas222 that makes sense now the enjoying thing for me is when ranging the target you have to move a long way off to range then have to find your target again I think it would be more helpful to have + same level but set either left or right I’m sure a lot of user’s would agree thanks for your time
Another great video on these Zulus scopes. Im hoping to buy a 5-20 in the near future. Russ, do you know what mount would be good for a Hw100KT dovetail? Apart from the Eaglevision you've already mentioned as i don't really understand what one i should get ie 0MOA, 20MOA etc 😂
Thank-you, and thanks for watching: please share. 🤓🙏 I assume your scope rail doesn't have any inbuilt MOA inclination, so if .177" sub-12 probably 20MOA, and either 20 or 35MOA if .22" or especially .25" sub-12. If that's not available in a dovetail, you'll need an 80mm low-profile slot-in dovetail-to-Picatinny adapter, e.g. from EagleVisionCam. Hope this helps, happy shooting, cheers. Russ
Once again Russ ,, a excellent well explained video,, if you can help please,, iv done the ballistics on my Arkan 5,20 scope to your specifications as best as I can ,, when I range at 23 m the Red Cross is spot on target 👍,, but at 37 m it’s a bit low,, I’ve done something wrong somewhere 🤷🏼♂️,, 👍🤠
Thanks David (and thanks for watching), ah as you range more distant objects it's possible for the LRF aiming + and actual LRF IR splash to diverge/misalign slightly. As with any LRF-equipped scope, you just need to pop it into IR/NV mode and practice ranging objects at different distances, so (with the LRF aiming splash visible) you know where your LRF is pointing. relative to the daylight aiming + at different ranges. All the best and happy shooting, cheers. Russ

The two scopes might not quite be on the same brightness/contrast settings, plus both have different focal length lenses, and the 312R is slightly more light-sensitive (great in low light). Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ

Are you calculating the range from a rangefinder or is the scope doing it through Bluetooth?
The rangefinder is built into the scope and is fully integrated / hard-wired.
