Would love to see the video that demonstrates the VCSEL IR. My understanding is that the IR beam size is adjustable. So I am curious to see how small beam it can narrow to and how far it can reach.
My video showing the Zulus ZHD520R using onboard IR (850nm then 940nm) is here: th-cam.com/video/0cPXD_jkbHU/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
Had a very similar problem with my 22-250. The ret was in the top area of the screen so I’ve cut a little bit of coke can to shim the front up a little.
I would love a detailed video, explaining how to set up the ballistic calculator on the app. Compared to different pellets I run a .25 caliber pellet. But I’m not sure if I have the ballistic calculator calculated right right right now I’m running JSB heavy at about 940 to 9 8 ft./s
I have the 35moa mount. I'm thinking the 20 moa mount would be better. The 35 moa is on the limit of adjustment for my 22 but perfect for my .177 HW97. The 0 moa might be too much for the .177.
A proper eye opener this video, thanks. I take it that, if you are shooting something a lot flatter, i.e 17HMR or a centre-fire calibre, you shouldn't have the same issues?
Our pleasure, thanks for watching -please share to help spread the word. I would hope something flatter-shooting wouldn't need such MOA compensation, certainly no more than 20MOA. There's an active (huge) Zulus thread on the AGF discussing these scopes, definitely the place to ask... airgunforums.co.uk/threads/arken-zulus-user-experiences.71841/ Happy shooting, cheers. Russ
Russ, I have a question I'm hoping you can answer for me....I would like to put an Arken Zulus on my air rifle, but it has a split pic rail. Half of the rail is in front of the rotary magazine slot, and half is behind it. The Arken would mount to the rear portion of the rail, but I can't tell if it would fit. The rear rail measures 95.25mm in length (3-3/4"). Would this be sufficient to mount the Arken? I also use large capacity mags, so they sit a bit higher than the top surface of the pic rails. But I think the Zulus, when mounted, sits well behind that, so clearance to the top of the mag shouldn't be a problem. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Which moa mount would an air venturi avenger need? I have 0 moa mount for zulus 5-20x. When I take a shot 40 yards, it hits super lower using full 20x zoom. Kept moving my Y axis -250 something higher and it moves closer up to the target. Do I need a 20 or 35 moa mount?
If your shots are hitting very low on your display it suggests you need a mount with greater MOA, here's a link to Bruce's MOA mount calculator, to determine which you need: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10pTnWMrVpJnBi5Ws8pFYNlkCclB5Wb9L/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=102644784652037081975&rtpof=true&sd=true Hope this helps, thanks for watching, cheers. That depends on your calibre and power level. .177" FAC air I'd say 0MOA. .22LR subsonic I'd say 35MOA, as-per Billy & Bruce's findings. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
A question for you? Is there any deviation in long distance shooting between 0 Mao foot and 35 Mao foot? No protractor in sight tonight. Doesn't the baristic program show the point of impact incorrectly?
It doesn't, that doesn't affect the BCL at all. The MOA inclination (declination) of the scope mounting rail helps determine how high/low/central the reticle is, i.e. whether or not the zeroed reticle is in the middle of the display. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
What subs was Bruce using to get a 17" drop at 50yds with the flat mount? Looks like CCI subsonics from the video, but with those the drop should only be around 8" allowing for about 4.6" of drop plus scope height of around 3.5" totaling ~ 8" total.
The purpose of the video was to show the difference in point of impact on an already zeroed rifle when the mount was changed from 35moa to 0 moa The rifle was originally zeroed at 50 yards using CCI subsonic ammo and then the mount was changed from 35moa to 0 moa and the rifle aimed at the same target, and using the same ammunition as was used to zero with the 35moa mount. Since 1 moa is very, very close to one inch at 100 yards, 35moa at 100 yards would be 35 inches and at 50 yards it would be 17.5 inches So, simple maths says that with the rifle zeroed at 50 yards on a 35moa mount, changing the mount to 0moa should drop the point of impact by 17.5 inches When we did the experiment the point of impact dropped by around 18.75 inches which, IMHO is good enough agreement with what was expected
Thanks Bruce, that makes sense. I forgot to allow for it being zeroed on the 35 mount, which I'm guessing resulted in the reticle being above centreline a bit, which would then lower the barrel even further when changing to the zero moa mount but still using the same zero co-ordinates. I've been trying to work out a formula to calculate how much MOA would be required in a mount for the zulus based on scope height and ballistics, to get the reticle perfectly centred in the y direction. Still working on that... should be possible but not sure my brain is up to the task.@@brucemcpherson8832
On the 5-20 Zulus, each "click" moves the reticle by one pixel and if you crunch the numbers based on the vertical field of view and the number of pixels, then one "click" moves the reticle by 0.1426moa.
Hi Dave, which mount do you have, 35MOA or 0MOA, and is your rifle rail level or inclined? Up to you -whether you keep it as-is (shimmed between the rear of the mount and scope to lift the reticle into the centre), plus the updated firmware will centre the reticle when zoomed above base mag'. Or fit the mount that better centres your reticle at base mag. 🤷🏻♂️ Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
