      If you are referring to attacking. The first part is called battle step or attack declaration. This is when trigger effects on attack declaration can be played such as borrelsword and mirror force. Also spell speed two cards can be played and spell speed 3. Next it moves to damage step. This is the most complex imo. At this point the only cards that can be played are cards that alter atk and def or spell speed 3 cards or cards that negate activations. Cards that just negate effects cannot be activated. Next is damage calc. Which is inside the damage step. This is where the attack is actually calculated. Then it moves to the end of damage step which is when the monster goes to grave and trigger effects can occur such as hayate. It’s important to note that you can still only activate cards that are mentioned above in the end of damage step. After that the game moves to open game state again

    Wait, does that box of both players needing to agree to change phases mean you can declare battle phase, ask the opponent if they want to activate anything in main phase, then decide to continue main phase even if they don’t activate anything?

    Hey great video.
    I have a question about passing priority.
    Lets say both players have Torrential Tribute set.
    I summon a monster, so I should be able to activate torrential before my opponent can do anything.
    However if I decide to pass priority, and my opponent passes too, can I then activate torrential ("Do both players agree to move to the next step?"), or is it too late?

    • @aHumanBeing97
      @aHumanBeing97 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think if you’re both trying to agree on who activates what. The timing doesn’t fully matter.
      Competitive placing: ask a judge.
      Casual placing: it doesn’t matter you can just decide amongst yourselves. It would probably be a thing with the people I used to play with to send both of them and all monsters to the grave 😂.

    Amazing video! Let's say, that you have 7 cards in your hand. You decide to move to your end phase. Can you discard a card by game mechanics before resolving other effects, or does the discard happen at the point when you decide to pass the turn? Also, can you choose the order of effects resolving during the point of passing your turn (like demise's effect that prevents you from special summoning?

    • @AnonyMouseYGO
      @AnonyMouseYGO 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Think of it as a lingering mandatory effect to discard 1 card in ep (that doesnt count as by a card eff) works same way you would expect that to work.

    • @ShadowHazy
      @ShadowHazy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Malin Lavrenčič If you have more than 6 cards in your hand, you discard them at the end of your turn, which means the very end of the End Phase. You can activate any effects during the End Phase as long as the last action you do is discarding the cards. If the card has an effect that trigger when you discard it (not by a card effect, because the action is the game mechanics, e.g: Dark World monsters), you can activate it, your opponent responds, etc. If every action has taken place, you proceed to end your turn one more time. That’s what I know.

    Example situation in worlds tournament:
    Player A playing Sky Striker
    Player B playing Altergeist.
    Player A's turn
    Player A has activated Multirole and resolved its effect. (So player B cannot respond to spells)
    Player B activated a trap.
    On resolution. Player B wants to activate faker, but on resolution player A gets priority.
    Player A activates MST, so player B can't activate effects, player B can no longer activate faker.
