    Hi Coder, I have a ruling question: I was having a live duel today at locals, and when I tried to use the heart of the cards to pull at pieces of exodia from my side deck to my hand my opponent said I was cheating? Can you explain to them the rulings around using the heart of the card during duels

    Hello Mr. Coder, I have a Token question and sorry if it’s dumb: Once a card like, say, Nibiru, summons a token and defines its stats, what is considered to be the card giving those stats: the Nibiru or the token itself? And if you were, for example, to mass-negate the board (with a card like Hi-Speedroid Kitedrake or Skill Drain), would the token lose its stats? I guess the root question is, are a token’s stats under any circumstances treated as a part of its own effect? Thanks :)

    • @akamelegendery5703
      @akamelegendery5703 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think nibiru actual states on the item card that it gives the token it's atk/def x of the monsters tributed with a mass negation I keeps the atk/def only thing that lower it's atk/def is like droplits etc I believe I may be wrong

    • @NoirEmperor18
      @NoirEmperor18 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@akamelegendery5703 droplet only works on effect monsters. The token is a normal monster

    • @NoirEmperor18
      @NoirEmperor18 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Since the nibiru eff has resolved then even if you negate the nibiru on field with like skill drain or kitedrake the token still has its atk and def because it is an effect that already has resolved so it stays like this

    • @davidkats7110
      @davidkats7110 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Reading nibiru fully states that the token is a normal monster, not an effect monster. This should solve that question lol.

    • @Balila_balbal_loki
      @Balila_balbal_loki 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nibiru summons the token while it's still in the hand then summons itself the only way to stop it is with a monster negate that affects the hand like mind drain or a negating an activated effect like how crystal wing does. In which case no monsters are tributed, no tokens are summoned and nibiru doesn't hit the field. Since they are all part of the same effect if one cannot be done the rest can't be done so if a floodgate is on the field nibiru because a brick in the hand even though it tributes everything you can't activate it because you can't summon a rock so you don't get to resolve any effects because a singular one is being stopped and they all have to resolve together.

    Interesting ruling Question (will never occur in competitive matches tho):
    So, Five-headed dragon states that it Cannot be destroyed by battle with a DARK, EARTH, WATER, FIRE, or WIND monster.
    and Elemental Hero Electrum (a LIGHT attribute monster) states that while it is face-up on the field, it is also WIND, WATER, FIRE, and EARTH-Attribute.
    So assuming I get my Electrum to higher ATK than Five-headed dragon, would Electrum be able to destroy it as LIGHT attribute, or would its effect as being other attributes that Five-headed dragon cannot be destroyed with not allow Electrum to destroy it.
    Hope you answer this one!

    • @corebren2510
      @corebren2510 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Elctrum can't destroy FGD since, while he does have the attribute that can destroy FGD, he also has others that explicitly can't.

    • @Balila_balbal_loki
      @Balila_balbal_loki 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cards will multiple atributes act at the same time with regards to effects for example if you summon dark simorgh and flip gozen match the dark simorgh goes to the gy because while it is a monster with one attribute on the field it is also a monster with another attribute on the field so gozen match kills the dark simorgh that is wind while not caring about the dark simorgh that is dark and because they are both the one and the same card then like a rule of thumb does care + kill = death like multiplying a negative with a positive gives you a negative also being dark does not protect you from gozen match because there is not text that says so even if there was gozen match affects the player and not the monster. So regarding five headed dragon it is protected by battle against earth and electrum is earth so it doesn't die because that's the only effect happening. Even though five headed dragon can be killed by divine, dark and light monsters or any new attribute added into the game the reason it can't be killed is a conditional effect and as long as you meet the right conditions you will receive the effect.

    Hey Coder, I was wondering what would happen if my opponent were to negate the fusion or link summon of a Prank kids monster, would the monsters used for the summon of the fusion or link be able to activate their effects, or are they considered to only be sent to the GY

    • @tanngrisnir6089
      @tanngrisnir6089 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as i know, prank-kids need to use a spell effect to fusion summon. So the fusion summoned would be external special summon and so only the card/effect could be negated but not the fusion summon itself.

    Sidoremichord Beautea has the following effect:
    (Quick Effect): You can target 1 Effect Monster your opponent controls, or, if you have an even Pendulum Scale in your Pendulum Zone, you can target 1 face-up Spell/Trap they control instead; this turn, if that card would leave the field, banish it instead.
    I activate the effect of my Mekk-Knight Purple Nightfall, targeting a Mekk-Knight Blue Sky I control. If my opponent activates Sidoremichord Beautia, targeting that Blue Sky, what happens?
    Also
    My opponent controls [S-Force Edge Laser]. If I activate Tri-Brigade Revolt to summon 3 monsters, would I be allowed to summon one of the monsters in the same column as Edge Laser and then not perform the link summon?

    • @Balila_balbal_loki
      @Balila_balbal_loki 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is like a hidden text with card effects when you move a card off of the field it is always considered under leaving the field so regardless of what purple was going to do with the card after removing off of the field it is now forcibly banished by beautea effect at the targetting process and not by purple's effect so you don't get to resolve purple's effects so you don't get to search or return the card in the next standby.

    Hi DistantCoder, I got a ruling question that I tried to ask around but could not get a concrete answer, I am really looking to hear your opinion.
    My friend had a Archlord Kristya face-up on the field, I used VW Gate Qinglong to negate its effect, then I later proceed to summon Shenshen and used Chuche's effect to successfully destroy Kristya.
    Kristya has an Unclassified Effect that reads: "If this face-up card would be sent from the field to the GY, place it on top of the Deck, instead.", and Shenshen has a Continuous Effect that reads: "Any card sent from the field to the GY is banished instead.". Just where should Kristya go? Top of the deck or banished?
    Someone on yugioh101 had pointed out Kristya had two conflicting ruling: one where against Macro Cosmos Kristya would return to top of the deck, and another one against Mystical Beast of Serket Kristya would be banished...
    I am so very very confused. Not only do I wish to know the correct answer, if the reasoning behind it can be provided as well that would be great!

    • @corebren2510
      @corebren2510 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Macro Cosmos ruling and Mystical Beast of Serket rulings aren't really conflicting; the effects read differently. Shenshen reads like Macro Cosmos, and according to the Cosmos ruling, Kristya will return to the top of the deck.

      Notice in the text it says depending on detach once the card is no longer attached it regains it's previous status you can detach the card while macro cosmos is on the field and the card gets banished and redoer still retains his effects the only difference between macro cosmos and dimensional fissure is the dimensional fissure needs specifically a monster card as in if you destroy a monster that is face up as an equipped spell card or the card is a monster on the field but is considered to still be a trap those don't get banished.

    My opponent controls Number 3: Cicada King and Metalfoes Orichalc. I control Samurai Destroyer and have a set copy of Crystron Entry. My opponent attacks SD with Orichalc. Before the damage step, I activate Entry, summoning Citree and Rion. Citree's effect targets a level 2 in my GY and summons Crystron Quandax. Rion's effect targets that now banished level 2 and summons Crystron Ametrix. In response to the Ametrix on summon effect, I activate Quandax's effect and summon Crystron Phoenix. Ametrix's effect resolves and switches Orichalc to defense position. In the next chain, I activate Phoenix's on summon effect.
    Is the Orichalc still considered to be attacking at this point? This affects whether or not Cicada King's effect can be used to negate Phoenix's banish. I ask because the game doesn't check for a replay until triggers are finished resolving.

    if something like redoer or omega are summoned from the extra deck, and then use their effects to banish themselves and return later, would they still be considered special summoned when cards like shaddoll fusion check? I know their return isn't a summon but I guess what I'm asking is if the game still recognizes the original way they hit field

    • @olliezoop
      @olliezoop 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm pretty sure that a card clears itself of markers such as "special summoned" when it stops being face up on the field, similar to how flipping a Call of the Haunted summon face down "detaches" it. I could be wrong, but I think an Omega that re-enters the field by its own effect is no longer technically considered special summoned.

    • @TheHuntedZ

      Only plunder's that equip themselves will be send to GY. For example if you use Blackbeard on bluebeard and imperial order is flipped up, the bluebeard stays equipped because the effect that keeps it equipped is the monster effect of Blackbeard. But if the Blackbeard targeted itself it will be sent to GY, as the effect that keeps it equipped is now negated (as Blackbeard is now treated as a spell).

Would the other card's effect make him able to attack regardless because the effect does not target him specifically but all monsters I control? I've been wondering that.

      Basically how summoning works is like this if it is not an inherent summon like pankatrops you have to 1. Attempt to summon -> 2. response -> 3. successfully summon -> 4. response So basically meltdown protects your from the first and second responses of your opponent if you fusion summon while the high scale solfachord only protects solfachord monsters from not being successfully summoned. If it's an inherent summon you skip to successfully summon -> response

Misc does not cleanse pre-existing effects and only stops new ones from occuring as in it stops the resolution of an activated effect during the main phase however field spells have re-applying effects always will try to re-apply themselves so you can tribute them during the battlephase as a cost for lilith.

    I control a Serziel, Watcher of the Evil Eye equiped with Evil Eye of Selene. The Serziel has (for argument's sake) gained 1000 ATK from the equip spell. My opponent activates the effect of Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss to target and negate my Evil Eye of Selene. What happens to the ATK points that Serziel gained? The effect of Evil Eye of Selene that increases Serziel's ATK is a lingering effect that applies on another card by activating and resolving each time, not a continuous effect. Even if Selene's effects are negated, Serziel's ATK will stay the same.

    • @corebren2510
      @corebren2510 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      By the time Ehther would be able to activate its effect on summon, it's no longer in the location where that effect would trigger, but instead in the GY. So, according to the April 1st, 2020 rule changes (which all big official events have followed up till now), you can't activate Ehther's effect. Granted, you should still ask the Head Judge at your tournament, since they might not be adopting the rule changes.

      Let me explain something in that scenario Chain-link 1 is raigeki and chain-link 2 is ehther so happens is ehther resolves then raigeki resolves and ehther just dies.
