I had a great reading year too! I read 57 books, which is 19 more than I’ve ever read in a year before. My average rating was 4.19 and I had eight 5 star reads. True Biz was one of my very favorites also! A few others that I loved were the giver of stars, Felix, ever after, and Beach read.
Lonely Castle was a total surprise for me too. It's so unlike anything else I'd say as a favourite, but I could probably cry just thinking about it. It hits so hard.
I believe the author C.E. McGill is nonbinary - their debut novel was released in 2023 and it was one of my top books of the year, i've been recommending it to everyone lmao. It's called Our Hideous Progeny, they describe is as at "spiritual sequel" to Frankenstein - it picks up on a lot of the same themes but from a female/queer perspective. Also it has dinosaurs.
I tried calculating some reading stats, but a large percentage of my reads are nonfiction and that made me confused. Like, how do I track how many queer "characters" I'm reading with nonfiction, many of which have no characters? Do I count authors as characters? Who knows. So I just gave up lol
Mrs S is one of my absolute favourite books and I've seen no-one speaking about it! I'm obsessed with it
I'm very interested in The Deep by Rivers Soloman, who I believe identified as NB. Their book sounds fantastic, I've got high hopes.
absolutely need a manga recommendations video from you now!!! i got super into manga last year too and im always looking for recs!!
I agree with you for the most part I HATE horror except for a psychological thriller/horror for some reason

31(21) five stars is so good !!!
I read mostly romance so I typically only read a handful of books by men, and at least a couple of them are usually Rick Riordan books😂
if you HAVE to read books by men then Rick Riordan is a damn good option 😋

A.J. Sass is a nonbinary author of you're interested in trying out some middle grade.
