Welcome back! I'd love to see an updated bookshelf tour in your new flat (I'm exactly the same as you re living alone, I did it in my third year at uni and loved it so much I will never share a house again!)
Oh I have a similar problem that finishing a book gives me some serotonin kick. I try to fight it, but I give myself some grace when I'm in a bit of a slump. My problem numbers wise is that few years back I was obsessing over number of books I'd read per year and to feel better (not like I needed to with 100+ books) I'd read short stories, but single ones. I got over chasing number of books, but in contrast last year I was constantly making sure I wasn't going below 320 pages per book on average. So this year I want to stop thinking about it too since it's actually made me not pick up some books that interest me. For buying books I've been keeping a spread in my reading journal as well as a challenge on StoryGraph where I keep track of books I've read from my owned TBR and I'm allowed to buy a new book for every 2 already owned I read. It worked out great in 2023 and I was left with a couple books to buy. I've toyed with changing it to buying for every 3 books this year, but I don't want to run out of books and I don't want to get down to 0 TBR anyway.
In an effort to haul fewer books, I recommend using the library. Particularly if you may not be inclined to re-read a book or you are not sure you will love it, there is no need to buy it when you can borrow it first. Curating what you make room for on your shelves can be a lovely part of being a reader. :)
So happy to see you back Mads! So sorry to hear you had a rough time but glad to hear you’re doing better. having a diagnosis to confirm things is great and so empowering, I hope all these changes work out positively for you ❤ I agree with you on getting obsessed over numbers and feeling like anything under x pages is finishable, sounds like you’re taking good steps towards making reading fun for yourself!
Glad to see you're back! I've always enjoyed your videos. Also, so glad someone else has the problem where they don't pick up chunkier books because of the time it takes to read them. I constantly have this problem so I've been putting off books I want to read for ages because it'll take more than 2-3 days to finish them. That's a goal of mine to work on this year too so best of luck to both of us!
I’ve always loved your videos, so glad to see you are doing well and feeling some relief from making changes in your life! It completely changed my life when I let go of the need to continue on the same path and just let myself make all the changes I wanted in my life in a very short span of time. Scary sometimes but also exciting. I hope 2024 is everything you want it to be and more! ♥️📚
Hi Mads!!! How exciting to have you back! I think all of these goals are awesome. Good luck! I've started reading a little manga myself. I'm in the middle of Ouran High School Host Club because it's my faaaavorite anime! I'm also looking forward to starting Yona Of The Dawn after I finish Host Club! I'd love a video about your favorite manga! I'm looking for new ones to get into!
Welcome back! I‘m glad to hear you‘ve prioritised your mental health over the last few months. I enjoy your content no matter how often you post 😊 And I‘ve got the same problem, I get annoyed when I haven‘t finished a book after a couple of days. But I‘m hoping to read a few chunky books this year. My goal for this year is also to finish and complete series. And I‘m determined to actually do that this year 😂
Glad you’re back, I was actually looking for a new video from you on the first hoping you were i’m going to pop up on my feed. Looking forward to all the fun things you have planned for 2024, thanks for being awesome.
I’m so glad you’re back! I feel you on the ADHD diagnosis. I was diagnosed within the last 2 years. A channel that has provided me with great content is How to ADHD. Jessica McCabe is fantastic! She also just released a book this past week. I’m a 1/4 of the way through it and it’s fantastic! Also, I’m happy to see a Dart Attack video whenever you want to provide one. They’re so fun! Your game inspired my own, TBR Ring Toss. Looking forward to future content and Happy 2024. 🎉😊
Welcome back MADs! I’ve got the exact same rule this year when it comes to buying books. I am allowed to buy sequels and new releases but ONLY when I want to read them - if they end up on the shelves for the rest of the year then I clearly didn’t need them 😅
I'm glad to see you are doing well and taking care of your mental health, Mads!! I would love to see some dart attack vlogs!! I love the tbr game trend.
Hi Mads! Glad to see you’re doing better. I initially subscribed to your channel because I loved dart attack (I honestly don’t care if you actually end up reading the books, I’m just here for the DA chaos 😂), but I’ll happily watch anything you post. Hope 2024 brings clarity and a lot of fun! ☺️
Great to see you! Hope you had a good Christmas/New Year. Glad you’ve got some peace of mind regarding the diagnosis, really puts things into perspective doesn’t it? It’ll take some adjustment but you’ve got this!
I’m the same way with series! Especially adult fantasy series, because the authors don’t always release one book a year like is more common with MG and YA fantasy. And the adult fantasy books are also super long, so doing a reread isn’t as easy, and I don’t have time to read all of those 500+ page books over and over again
Welcome back Mads ^.^ looking forward to your upcoming content, I really enjoy themed reading vlogs so those sound really good to me :) my reading goals are 100 books on goodreads (including Manga xD ) read 1 Manga a week (so many series I wanna read and I never pick them up x.x ) two goals that are separate but kinda connected as well I was good at finishing all open series and books in like 2021, then I kept it up until like middle of 2022 that I started picking up books and enjoying them but then for some reason stopping in the middle of it... and now I have like 15 books I am in the middle off, some of them are part of series so now I also want to finish series and finish those books.... at least some of them, finishing all those series is probably not gonna happen especially since I do wanna catch up with the way of kings (currently in the middle of Words of Radiance, since April? yeah its one of the Books I for some reason haven't continued -.- )
I am the same way with needing to finish a book in a couple of days. I always put books with audiobooks first over books without. It’s something I’m trying to work on this year
I knew there was a reason I connected with you. I have ADHD and want to do all the things and nothing, like being by myself although I just got remarried, would like to start a TH-cam channel but worry that I would not be consistent... Thanks for sharing
welcome back, and i wish you all the best looking for a job that suits you better! for video ideas, i'd love reading vlogs for the nonfiction books! i've been getting more into nonfic from uni, but i never have any idea where to start or how to pace myself when i want to read one for fun
Nice to see you back and glad to see that you seem to be doing slightly better. As someone who had to leave a job in what I suspect is a similar industry though mine was significantly less intensive last year due to mental health and suspected ADHD it will be ok and some time off has significantly improved things. Please feel free to do whatever you need in order not to burn yourself out.
Video themed vlog idea dart attack picks my books and you play dart attack through the vlog a bit like Becca does with Bookoplathon. You could use the prompts you already have or you could pick a random selection of books to pin to the board?
Hi Mads :D Thanks for sharing all of that with us! I feel you on living alone..it is THE best. At this point I wouldnt even want to live with a partner 😂
You’re not useless, lovely - as a neurodivergent person myself I just find that society is not made for me to thrive ❤
I think your goals are a great balance between pushing yourself and being gentle with yourself! Here's to a great 2024!!

Nice to see you back mads. I highly relate about the enjoying your books and not panicking that it's taking you weeks to finish x
Great to see you back ❤

Glad to see ya Mads! Take care of yourself; mental health is I'm finding such a more important part of life than I ever knew.
love your content mads always have really hoping to maybe see whateverathon I have missed it such a brilliant readathon
That would be nice, I enjoyed that readathon a lot as well. It seems like a ton of work to set up and organise though 😅
I am making no promises but a slightly different version might happen, will see how I am doing in a few months!
Glad you’re back, I was actually looking for a new video from you on the first hoping you were i’m going to pop up on my feed. Looking forward to all the fun things you have planned for 2024, thanks for being awesome.
it was meant to go live on the first but moving and having no wifi put a stop to that plan 😂
Nice to see you Mads! Always miss you when you’re away, but mental health always comes first.

Mads! I noticed the name change at the beginning and I’m so proud of you for coming out ❤ It’s good to see a new video from you. Happy New Year!
Thanks for sharing Mads. Glad you have found a great place to live, enjoy living in London. 😊

Has a booktuber who also got my adhd diagnosis last year I wish you the best!! I’m excited to see what you create this year!
Welcome back Mads! Happy new year!

right!? it makes it so difficult but then suddenly you somehow have 5 finished series you need to read asap 😂
Happy to see you back Mads!! 🥰
Welcome back! Good luck with all your goals for this year 💕
Welcome back Mads ^.^ looking forward to your upcoming content, I really enjoy themed reading vlogs so those sound really good to me :)
my reading goals are

ooh I would be really intrigued to vlogging non-fiction! might do a vlog as I go and just upload them as and when I have read enough!
Thank you for sharing, Mads.
Nice to see you back and glad to see that you seem to be doing slightly better.
