Thank you for showing the back view for us rollercoaster/ride nerds!!! You get a better appreciation of all the detail when you see how the ride looks from behind.
One of the first log rides in the world. We lived right around the corner and when the ride first opened in 1969 Knots Berry Farm was free. The park only had a handful of rides at the time. I remember waiting in a very long line to get on the ride and being scared of going down the final drop. It took $3.5 million to build the initial ride compare that to the $75 Million Plus Disney spent building Splash Mountain. Splash Mountain opened 18 years later. Given a bigger budget and better tech of course Splash is a better ride but it was also one of the last log rides to be build
From my memories, this video just can't do this ride justice. Then again, Spring of 1980 was my last time there. And from what I recall correctly, I think I rode Timber Mountain like 15 times in a row.
As a kid, who was raised in Long Beach CA, I have visited Knotts Berry Farm more than 120 times from 1976 to 1995. It's amazing how much it changed. I remember getting an annual pass for $65.00 for the entire year! Anyone ever go to the Calico Ghost Town out in the desert where they have that solar power station? Knotts owned that too! They tell you on the train tour that there is millions of dollars of silver sitting in the ore outside the mine, but it would take double that to process it.
Nice looking ride. Looks like all those Knott's scary farms paid off well over the year's. Since Six Flags closed the Log Jammer back in 2011, which was a favorite to many because it simply was a good ride with nothing but a natural foliage scenery to view, this here is a great addition for the west coast, especially on those hot summer nights.
Almost exactly 20 years in fact. 1969-07-11 for Timber Mountain and 1989-07-15 for Splash Mountain. And in hindsight, it would have been super cool if Disney could have timed it to open 4 days earlier.
This is the most Disney non-Disneyland ride out there in any theme park. I wish Knott’s continued this tradition (other than the mine train ride). It would have been great if their river rapids ride had this level of detailed theming.
I live so close to knott’s I could literally walk there. And I know everybody in the comments is all like “well I think splash mountain is better”. Well I like this one better and I’ve been on splash mountain before.
I like them both equally. Timber Mountain will always have a special place in my memories. I was briefly 10 again while watching this video. Disney just gave the log ride its own touch, no better nor worse than Knott's version. Then again, Song of the South has always been my favorite Disney flick since as long as I can remember. No reason to have to pick one or the other.
Try as you might Knott's(to obviously redesign this ride after a certain water ride in Disneyland)but this ride doesn't even compare to Splash Mountain!!!!
me and my family went there and the only ones that went in the rides was me and my dad that was super fun and it was scary too the manicans looked so real and then it got dark and boom we go down that rollercoaster fast it was amazing and we Aldo spend a night at the hotel
soul71000 Picking up chicks is like going fishing. A bunch of fish are going to reject your lure, but you if you keep on fishing, you will catch your fish. You just have to not take rejection personally. So what if a girl rejects you? So what? It doesn't mean anything. Wish them a nice evening and go talk to some other girl. Often times the chicks that rejected you will suddenly want to talk to you if they see you talking to other girls.
soul71000 There's an old saying, "To key to success is to do what other successful people did." Hey, it works for me. For every 9 girls that say no, 1 will say Yes. I'm not a good looking guy. I'm not rich. I'm not funny or smart. It's all about confidence. You don't need it. You just need to look like you have it. Women are suckers for a confidence man. Never show fear. Never show anger. Never get offended. Never give up hope. Never forget you are a guy who has got his life together. A lot of guys walk into a bar thinking they are a 5 or a 7 and that the girls are all 10s. You are gonna strike out with that attitude. You gotta remember that no girl is too good for you. Not even Shakira. Before you go into a bar, psych yourself out. Say out loud to yourself, "Any girl in this place would be lucky to have me for a boyfriend." Just keep on saying it until you believe it. Now walk into that bar like you own the place. The girls will be all over you. That glow of confidence is irresistible to women. Nice shoes are always a big plus as well. Do you have feet? Women are all about shoes. It's the first thing they look at on a guy. Then maybe for white teeth. If you've got white teeth, nice shoes and confidence.....I don't care if you are 400 pounds and bald....you are gonna meet some girls.
They can't just magically modify a fixed amusement ride, designed in the sixties where it would not have been possible, to make it steeper. It's designed a certain way for a certain reason. Have a little common sense.

Thanks for showing the Log Ride in reverse. What an awesome POV

A timeless classic.
I remember a long time ago, I was riding this, and out of nowhere this man's voice said "SIT DOWN" and I totally freaked out!!! Like the new version!
That water splashing feels good this time of year
looks like a good ride, well themed. Thanks for the video, love how you included the queue line and loading station.

What's wrong with you people so many negative comments???? THIS LOOKS BEUTIFUL

loved this ride! x3
Me and my friends went on this ride 6 times and we all screamed on both drops and made fun of each other when we saw the photos after the ride😀😀

Oh my awesome
I want to build one down south plus a aquarium of the atlantic
@Andrewtron29
This ride existed many years before Splash Mountain.

There was a screech when he got on that went "DUHDUHDUHDUHDUH!"
I have went to six flags before and it was fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🐝☺😀😁😂😨
I swear, the vids make the drop look so much more tiny than in real life.
Still, cool ride! It is super fun :D
honest to say great detail inside the ride and quite a long waterslide aswell where is this place?
I think I like it better backwards than forwards! Yes, nice theming. Must be motivated by the high bar set by the local competition. ;-)
I went on this ride in 1982 and some of the stuff is still the same!
this is the oG
I just love your videos. How many rides have you been on all together? I'm guessing about 100 or more.
Cool =)
Nice, just went on Monday and our log got flooded and my feet were soaked to the bone and had to wait all day for my feet to dry
Wow I went on this and I was in the front and its dark and u have a deep fall
Seems to go a bit too fast to admire the scenery, but it still looks pretty fun
actually it goes at a decent speed on video it looks much faster than how it is in person
There was barely a line!! When did you go??
Sence kids have school that might be why and he is over the age of 18
It might've worked in the 70's but that was over 4 DECADES ago.
Where is this place?:) :D
Those 2 guys have been sawing the same log since the 1970s. Lazy.

does the ride really go backwards?
i have never seen Knotts so empty like that
They let you ride backwards ?!?!
This is the most Disney non-Disneyland ride out there in any theme park. I wish Knott’s continued this tradition (other than the mine train ride). It would have been great if their river rapids ride had this level of detailed theming.
Fun fact, this ride was inspiration for Disneys Splash Mountain
@@SlushysSecret yup!
How big is the drops ? If anyone knows thank you
Wolf_ Brettski There not that high and big.
It's 42 ft. For comparison, Splash Mountain has a 52.5 ft drop.
webzinz genavieve, knotts berry farm and all its rides were made before disney and splash mountain
it goes backwards now or you just filmed it backwards?
Ye wondering but it looks boring.
I could have sworn that the inside "surprise" drop was much higher than that.
Where is this at?
Oh yeah 😂
Wy is the park empty ?? In france, Disneyland is always full !
It's at Knotts Berry Farm, in California.

What is your favorite ride at knotts berry farm
Seems to dart quickly past the robotics, unlike something like Pirates where you get to take the details in.
do you have to go backwards
My class and I went on that ride for field trip. Sorry for bad grammar
this reminds me of splash mountain...
this came before splash mountain. It's the first themed log ride in the world and has a lot of history behind it
HiZzen RekT Wow, thank you!
@@Reybeeem 20 years and 4 days before, to be exact.

This came before splash mountain.

Bring back Kingdom of the Dinosaurs, enough said!

why is it so empty

They modified it this winter so it goes slower so you can see the robots and the drop is steeper

5:07 OMG!! Agarrate fuerte weón! Añslskjd
