Walt Disney visited Knotts Berry Farm to check out, and form some Ideas while visiting Knotts. He was surprised the Calico Mine Rde looked like just a short line. Bud Hurlburt, builder, and designer, worked with Walter Knott. Bud explained that the switch back style of line queuing, would accommodate more people, keeping the line more organized. Walt liked the Idea, and soon implemented it at Disneyland. Knotts was a first "Theme" Park..fun fact of the day.😁
@@istanstraykidz Nothing is wrong with a Californian visiting Knotts. But most of the vloggers from out of state hardly ever visit Knotts. They tend to stick with Disneyland and Universal. Hell, many of them rarely visit other spots in Southern California. As a viewer of their vlogs, it's nice seeing them go outside of their comfort zone. I can say the same about the Californian vloggers. Are you upset over my post?
Knotts Berry Farm is colloquially know as America’s First Theme Park. Ghost Town is literally buildings transported from an actual Ghost Town…Calico. Also, the park has traditionally held short hours in shoulder season. The crowds during Haunt always make up for it. The National Anthem is a Cedar Fair thing as they bought the park in 1997.
Walter Knott & Walt Disney were best friends back in the day. They also had double dates with their wives. They also visited each others parks without having to make it a competition. They both shared ideas. The chaperone policy is because for many years they had issues with teens causing problems in the park. I had actually found some hidden mickeys around ghost town. I grew up going to knotts and universals. And we would visit Disneyland during the holidays. Fried Chicken is good but I still prefer Disneyland fried chicken. The pies are really good. I’m happy you had fun at silverbullet & Sierra sidewinder! Hope you can come over next year for Boysenberry Festival! Also you’re friend PCdevv had also came over for the festival before and liked it!
hey kyle! the reason why it’s such a ghost town is because they don’t allow teens anymore without a chaperone, so basically only families can attend. this is because groups of teens used to go and trash the park :/
Jaguar was what made me fall in love with coasters as a kid. I still enjoy it to this day. Sure it's not intense, but I love the tour it provides for the park. It's not just a 45 second thrill ride, I enjoy the traversal aspect and whipping through the trees.
Disney has a lot of history tied with Knott’s. Too bad you didn’t get to ride Ghostrider. It’s my favorite wooden coaster. Also, Knott’s Scary Farm is what started the Halloween night events trend. The log ride has live scare actors during their KSF events. If you look around Disneyland, Knott’s gifted something to Walt Disney and it’s still on display at DLR today!
It's always worth rope dropping!!! You can't beat a day like you had. Not overheating from the clouds, 0 crowds so walk on everything, and just able to literally pace and enjoy yourself with no pressure. Awesome.
Knotts Berry Farm had to institute the chaperone policy after a weekend were dozens of teens were roaming the park fighting. They were forced to close the park early, and after that came out with the chaperone policy. Hopefully you get to go back when all the rides are up and running next time!
It’s a pity you did not come before Montezooma’s Revenge closed as it was the last flywheel launched shuttle loop coaster in the country, so you missed out on something REALLY special and rare. Also missing out on Ghosttider (one of the best wood coasters around) is a bummer. It’s not closed to save money…lol. None of the rides are. It always goes down at this time of year for maintenance before Haunt which is their BUSIEST time of year when Ghostrider needs to routinely run until 2 in the morning just to work through the huge lines! You should come to Haunt by the way too. And you MUST come back in the spring during Boysenberry Festival when there are food booths everywhere with their claim to fame..boysenberries!! Speaking of which…I did not see video of Knott’s Berry Tales in there but I hope you went upstairs near Johnny Rockets and rode it too as it’s a fun little midway mania style ride that is a nod to their past dark ride that used to be in the same spot.
Loved this! Didn’t know anything about Knotts, so it was really cool to see it. I didn’t think it had that many coasters- fun! All these CA videos have been such great, chill “Kyle” videos! Keep it up!
That chaperone rule is amazing! Specifically for California where there’s so many people, it really does so much! You should also come back for knotts scary farm! It’s the grandfather of all haunts as it was the first!
I was born and raised in the LA area. We went to Disneyland at least 2-3 times a year growing up - back when you used to have E-tickets for the best rides there. One of my earliest memories is riding the Matterhorn at age 4 - back in 1967. But I also remember VERY well our dad taking my two older sisters and I to ride the log ride at Knott's Berry Farm the weekend it opened. It was the FIRST EVER log ride in the world. My father took us on a Friday night when he got home from work, the week it opened back in July 1969. I was almost six years old at the time - and that final drop was terrifying - because I didn't expect it and that was a very high drop for a 6-year-old. Every year when I go back home to LA, I go to Disneyland, but I haven't been to Knott's in probably 20 years. They were just starting to build the Ghostrider the last time I went, so that was 24 years ago. I need to go back - but this video is great for showing me how much it's changed since I last went there.
I’m glad you finally went to Knots. Fun fact they started the whole Halloween Fright nights before Universal. It’s a small park but fun. I’m glad you had fun.
Knotts is a nice alternative to Disneyland and some of those coasters are no joke. The reason they have that chaperone rule is recently there were a number of fights and incidents involving unsupervised young people. Hopefully next time you are back in Southern California those other rises are open and maybe you could try Knotts Scary Farm because it's one of the better Halloween events out here.
So cool you went to Knotts. I'm so old, the first time I went was free. We used to come and feed the chickens where Camp Snoopy is now. I have so many good stories over the years. Now you have to go to Magic Mountain.
30 years ago, I got to spend a week in L.A. Got to go to Knott's Berry Farm. I loved it. I remember very little about the rides, but I do remember that mine train ride. They also had a shack where everything was at an angle and you had to walk through it. It really did a number on my equilibrium. Glad you enjoyed it!
I used to work at Knotts. The park is in-between seasons and will get crazy busy and scary for Halloween Haunt. You were there at the perfect time for walk ons.
Knotts Berry Farm brings back a lot of memories of my younger years, very exciting times! I have never seen the park that empty before. The crowds are definitely diminishing. I bet it is a lot more crowded on the weekends. Great vlog Kyle, keep up the good work as you always do.
Finally you went to Knott's! You should defiantly go back when it's busy and go on the rides you missed. Also, you have to try Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant. They have the BEST fried chicken.
I'm thinking that Knott's Berry Farm is the "anti-Disney" with all those scary roller coasters! Glad to see your POV while on the coasters. I can no longer stomach the thrill rides but love seeing others scream their heads off from the thrills. Reminds me of Great Adventure, which is an hour away from my NJ home (and I don't visit them either anymore). Oh yeah, the weekend "chaperone rules" are a thing now, especially in roller coaster parks where teens are dropped off and run amok (there's been problems at NJ Great Adventure), so I can understand why Knott's Berry Farm needs that rule too.
Kyle, You ARE the Rope Drop King! Other than GhostRider being down, that was a great day for Knotts! Double-Double...but not Animal Style? Glad to see you got a shake too! This was worth the wait!
We have a season pass for Knotts. We went last Wednesday and I think there were more employees and guests . The downside was four of their biggest rides were down for whatever reasons. But we enjoyed wandering around a nearly empty park
It's great that you broke out of the Disney bubble to visit Knotts Berry Farm. It's a shame that you didn't get a chance to explore Ghost Town more or eat some of the Knotts Berry Farm fried chicken and biscuits.
California through your eyes 👀 new experience keeps the vlog fresh. Pumpkin cold cream brew, walk ons, In-N-Out, new boxers 🙈 ending with Downtown Disney-, now that is California dreamin ☺️😏
Should’ve tried their famous fried chicken at Knott’s. In and Out shakes? Meh. Try a malt from Whataburger. Now that’s a good drink. So much has changed at Knott’s since my last visit as an early teen (38 years ago). But always loved the log ride and calico mine train. They used to have a full sized train that went through the park and had outlaws and sheriffs come into the train and put on a show. Not sure if that’s still there or not.
It is great that you ventured outside of the Disney bubble and took a chance on Knotts Berry Farm. Looks cool. Reminds me of Great Adventure in New Jersey. When you visit NY, you could visit Conry Island. Enjoy your day/ evening.
There were fights started by young adults aging from 18-20 so now they have limited it to being accompanied by 21 and over. It was all over the news here in California awhile back.
And it's a walk - on and on and on :-) Looks like an incredible park to visit! Did I just see you eat a burger NOT upside down? Thanks for taking us on ALL of your adventures - even Target! Wendy Lady
Thanks for the upload. I have a suggestion for you. DCL is coming here to Australia. How's about going on a cruise with Taylor and vlogging the experience for all? Good mornin' to u Kyle, Mr. P, and everyone!! :) :) :) Omgoodness! Omgoodness! Just LOVED this video Soooooo much! We LOVE our Knott's Berry Farm!! When it's ...not... a pandemic (our lil Prince has lots of health issues so we still take TONS of precausions)... we Always get season passes for Knott's and their water park. Plus, my hubby and I get the kinda all-u-care-to eat (lunch and dinner) food passes. We do REALLY like their food there! :) We usually also get passes for SeaWorld and Legoland too because they have pretty great deals for teachers. Then we just go to Disney like 2-3?? times a year and Universal Studios a few times like every 2-3 years because they're more expensive and ...usually... more crowded. I've heard that also before KP... about "Knott's being America's 1st amusement park"... Maybe they first started out in their wild west/old timey area offering the things like panning for gold, watching the blacksmith at work, their little wild west shows & re-enactments, their little theater w/ variety and seasonal shows, and naive American dancer(s)... and of course shopping and more food. They have a pretty famous chicken restaurant there too and on weekends and busier times ... they have kinda a "farmer's market" vibe. Oh what a bummer that Ghostrider was closed Kyle. That's my most favorite ride there!! However, our little Princie really really LOVES that log ride, the river rapids ride, the Calico mine ride, Coast Rider (a family-friendly rollercoaster kinda in the back), Jaguar, ALL their AMAZING AMAZING shows, and a bunch of the baby kiddie rides in Camp Snoopy! SOOOOOO Glad u got to go Kyle and show us through ur eyes!! :) :) :)
Knotts has great food you should've tried! Also, if you want intense rides Knotts is nothing. Go to Magic Mountain! Either way I'm so happy to see you in my neck of the woods!
loved the knots berry farm video ... so nice to see lighter crowds ... this park seems like an excellent place for singles / families to enjoy their day .... please go again during special events and holidays
When I saw you went to Knott's you brought me so many memories! Used to live right behind and went every day in the 70's-80's! Thankyou for taking me back! Can't visit anymore I miss it so much!😇
The National Anthem is a Cedar Fair tradition. One year I was inside the season pass center getting my pass renewed, and when it was announced that the nation anthem would be played, everything stopped. The flag was shown on all the monitors and every worker stopped what they were doing and faced the flag outside of the building. It's a great tradition, one those of us who are CF fans love. It's part of the experience.
I went on the first ride that you went on and it was so fun don't be scared I wasn't even scared but when I got on it I was kind of scared but at the end it was so fun😊😊
I also went on the second ride that you went on wasn't it fun it was so cool I kept my eyes closed the whole time and I could feel everything I only opened my eyes like one time😊😊
An empty Knotts Berry Farm is a dream come true, and a place I would stay at, not leave! I would've confirmed Ghostrider was operating before going. But I'm a wooden roller coaster hobbyist. This would have been a day to park my rear-end on a seat on those beautiful Milennium Flyer trains and ridden Ghostrider 40-50 times or more. But that's my hobby and my passion, wooden roller coasters. A review of Knotts, especially a first-timer's review, just is not complete without Ghostrider, which is one of the best wood coasters in the world.
Kyle, missed you at Hollywood studios last Sunday. It was an absolute ghost town too! I was able to ride rise as a walk on twice, and rode everything in the park twice! What a day!
I like ur vibes here in this vlog. Beats the other ones recently. Glad ur trying new things. Noticed u have been avoiding Universal and HHN though. Lol.
Kyle this was great, I've never been there. Wait, the National Anthem - I've never experienced that before @ a park & yes, I would say you're the rope drop king👍 Dude, those coasters are so high but wow, they're awesome - big thanks for the POVs!! What the heck was with that spinning coaster 😳 The Pyramid coaster is sadly becoming more my speed 😂 Hey, keeping it real on the channel - sometimes you just gotta buy underwear 😂 That burger looked mouth watering!!
We have home silent movies when I was little visiting with family from illinois….A goat ate my grandfathers hate which we caught on video….they were walking over some arches in one of the walkways… old memories…
Cool thing about this park, is its mostly locals that go there, and im guessing most are season pass people. And its more casual early on. If you get there in time for the opening, the crowd is generally very light and riding early is fairly easy.
Knotts berry farm isn’t a “rope drop” type of park. You’re there early in the morning in an off time, while everyone is at school. The hours are short because at night they have Knotts Scary Farm separate ticketed event. Knotts is a VERY active park.
It's too bad Ghost Rider was down. That's my favorite. Accelerator has not reopened after the shut down. Next time you visit, try to go when Ghost Town Alive is happening. That's the best.

More of an amusement park than a theme park after cedar fair got it

Great to see you made it to Knotts Berry Farm. It’s not my jam but happy you got a chance to vlog it
I went on the first ride that you went on and it was so fun don't be scared I wasn't even scared but when I got on it I was kind of scared but at the end it was so fun😊😊
I also went on the second ride that you went on wasn't it fun it was so cool I kept my eyes closed the whole time and I could feel everything I only opened my eyes like one time😊😊
I also went on the second cave one that you went on and the teal one😊😊
I am glad that Disney happily ever after . 😊
You didn't eat the burger upside down. So very proud of you.
This has to be the best vlog 😂😂😂😂 all the smiles and screams!
Ah, I’ve thought this place looks amazing for YEARS - SO glad I found your video!!
What a day!
Here for this content! Great vlog Kyle! :)
Was there laundry machines at the hotel?
I really thought Knott's Berry Farm only made jams and jellys? LOL Glad you got a bonus park day and some In and Out!
Ha an attraction could be grape smashing like I love Lucy
Now you should consider heading over to Virginia for Kings Dominion for Haunt! It's a sister park of Knott's! 🎃👻
I’ve never been to knots berry farm but this park looks so cool 😎
Great Vlog!!! So excited for tomorrow! Fingers crossed for HHN Hollywood!!
The ghost town is amazing during Knotts Scary Farm. All the smoke and sliders jumping at your feet. So much fun.
I love the way he said: “COWABUNGA” on Silver Bullet. I love this channel!!
Went to Knotts berry quite a number of years ago. my husbans loves his roller coasters
I never been to knotts either ! Glad you enjoyed it
Love the vlog! So glad you got to experience Knotts! Watching this made me crave some in-n-out. Guess I know what to have for lunch today. 😂
Knotts berry farm is older then Disneyland. It’s over 100 years old
Did no one tell you about Knox Berry Farm's fried Chicken? It's legendary. Skipping it is NOT an option.
I like ur vibes here in this vlog. Beats the other ones recently. Glad ur trying new things. Noticed u have been avoiding Universal and HHN though. Lol.
Next time you get a pumpkin cream cold brew, ask to substitute the vanilla syrup for pumpkin sauce 👌 so yummy 😊
Finally! At last! Kyle filmed somewhere new!
Kyle this was great, I've never been there. Wait, the National Anthem - I've never experienced that before @ a park & yes, I would say you're the rope drop king👍 Dude, those coasters are so high but wow, they're awesome - big thanks for the POVs!! What the heck was with that spinning coaster 😳 The Pyramid coaster is sadly becoming more my speed 😂 Hey, keeping it real on the channel - sometimes you just gotta buy underwear 😂 That burger looked mouth watering!!
yes! Kyle is the rope drop king... and ...hahahaha, no offense tho Brian.. ;) lol
If he went in Sunday (9/11) that might explain it! But idk lol
@@steph903 ok, I think Kyle mentioned it was Friday but still, they might have still been doing it as a memorial 👍
I rope dropped Carowinds (amusement park on the border of North and South Carolina) and they also sang the National Anthem… I wasn’t expecting it!
fun fact disney almost bought knotts berry farm and had plans for a third park there. but the family decided not to sell to them.
I love Knotts berry farm I’ve been there like five times. It’s so fun I love going on the log ride. That’s the first ride I go on.
Never mind the sliver bullet it should be called the voice changer lol, glad you had a fun day
Knotts during summer nights is a 10/10 experience, only downside is the lines get super long. But the ambience is 🤌
