"I'm not giving you a rule, I'm giving you a tool" I feel like that has to be a punchline at the end of all your videos, or tutorial videos in general, because it's so important!
I was bullied in school relentlessly for having a "weird" hairline" or "bald spot", and to hear your disclaimer about wanting to be encouraging and positive when it comes to playing with your hair as opposed to "fixing" hair "problems" honestly made me cry, because I really needed to hear that. :') Thank you. And thank you for the tips. ❤️
Adriana L Do you always wear the same part? I used to be just like you, when I tried to flip it it looked so stupid! I just changed my part by parting my hair while wet on different side and blowdrying, after of couple times I can flip my hair/change parting whenever I want!
I know exactly what you mean. I part my hair in the middle as well because it never looks right when I try something else and I'm so used to it that I get annoyingly aware of my hair when I have a side part.
That is so kind of you to convey that the way you look is not something to be ashamed of, but a true beauty, and hairstyles and makeup are to make you happy and feel good! I was crying inside! Love you Kayley!
I loved that you took the time to tell your viewers that they are enough just the way they are and address what ads, beauty products, etc tend to tell us is the opposite. Thank you so much, it's refreshing and frankly, much needed. 😘
I love these root-focused volume tips, because that's what I really need as someone with super thick, wavy hair. Otherwise I just get the dreaded pyramid hair. (Even the powder trick was helpful because my hair is oddly thin at the temples)
Chris B with curly hair (I'm a curly woman too ;) ) what I love to do is flip my hair upside-down and just weave my fingers through my hair on my scalp and "mess" it up a little and then pull my fingers out. I don't rake my fingers down through my hair. Then when I flip my hair back up it looks fuller and my curls are still in their curl pattern.
TIP: instead of spending money on hair fibers which can be expensive, get a tinted dry shampoo! Its made to add volume and the tint will do what the fibers would have done
thebez I’ve enjoyed the mineral fusion brand. It’s not a spray-on like other dry shampoos, but an actual powder. It comes in a couple different shades and it’s nice on its own or to add to other super volume-building powders to tint them.
I have a bunch of baby hairs in my hairline that don’t grow and they are soooo annoying. I used eye shadow to fill in the spot but I should really try this powder stuff!! LOOKS BETTER!! Also, teasing with a toothbrush?! BRILLIANT!!
My hair’s really thick and I’ve always been taught to do a clean side part. Recently I started wondering why my hair never looked good, and the first trick helps so so much!!
Hi Kayley, Always love your tips! I had the space at my forehead for many years, due to heavy hair worn in ponytails. I started putting pure castor oil (hexane-free, cold pressed...Jamaican Black Castor Oil is wonderful too) on those spots overnight before I washed my hair...although even 30 minutes before shampooing will help too....and within 3 months I had loads of baby hairs and a year later both sides are totally filled in. Give it a try. :)
Not a fan of volume on me, but I am definitely happy I watched this to get your "channel philosophy" speech. I really like this as to look at it, and you've helped me get ready for so many events in my life! (like graduation, interviews, weddings..), but also to just make everyday a little be better with some nice hair. So thanks, for giving me (us), the tools to achieve what I want with my hair.
This is my first video that i watched in her channel and few minutes in this video i can already say that i like her, and i don't even know why. Halfway through this vid, i said, now i know why. I've been unfollowing beauty channels in the past because it made me feel insecure about myself and that you have to have/buy this and that product to completely feel good about yourself. The positive philosophy of this channel just came through i guess, that's why like her. God bless your soul kaley. Much love from phils.
My hair is pretty average in fullness, but I just stumbled across your channel and subscribed because you're such a positive, optimistic person. That's the kind of content I like to see on the internet that I usually can't find 💙
Also, just sleeping with your hair up can make it have more volume, especially if it's in a high bun or if you braid your hair on the top of your head (so when you braid you pull up). It's the same trick as when you blow dry your hair upside down, only without heat.
I know you're struggling with your eyebrows as you mentioned in one of your other videos, but (as a person who's constantly struggling with even/similar/natural eyebrows) I have to say, that I love your eyebrows!! In basically every video I think you're brows are just the perfect combination of fashion and personality, of sleek and natural!!
I absolutely love when people can step out of the comfort zone. Admit thay are imperfect, and help others. You made me feel so comfortable and secure with fine things hair. And be proud either way. Thank you. You are beautiful 😍
I JUST discovered your videos and channel and while I'm not a beauty enthusiast, these hairstyles and hair tips are SO handy! You are an amazing communicator, have great potential to be an educator and I love your genuine enthusiasm and realism. Thank you for being so relatable. I LOVE it when you smile. I found myself smiling with you. It was kinda sweet. :)
I SO needed this. My hair has been looking even more thin and flat than normal (thinking medicine might be the culprit.) Seriously been feeling bummed out when I'm styling my hair. Can't wait to try all of these!
Kayley you're so inspiring! You've really helped me enjoy doing my hair more. I used to hate doing the same old ponytail every single day, and then I found your channle and it totally turned my hair game around! Thank you for being amazing!
Dear Kayley, Could you please do some hairstyles which could be done before going to bed to keep the hair in good health? I love your videos, Thank you so much!!
Do a simple braid. I like to add hair tonic (biolage is my favorite) and I do a braid. Also, if your hair is feeling really dry, try doing a coconut oil treatment and washing it out. It really helps. I also avoid most hair dyes and only use henna. It is permanent though.
"The philosophy major in me needed you to know that..." oh my gosh yes! Some friends say I over think things, but no-you! You let that affirming philosophy of yours is shining through!!!
Lmao same :( But the good side is getting way more receeded than the bad side so I've been making myself part it different during quarantine times at least.
my stubborn cowlick won't let me flip my hair to the other side so basically, my hair covers my "good side" where my eyebrow is a little fuller, forehead is smaller and my skin is clearer.. so yeah that sucks
I’m so glad you talked about these tips as tools and that you were so honest about what beauty tips are all about. This really spoke to me on a personal level. Thank you .❤️
I have a pixie cut, so there's not really a point in me watching styling videos. But I keep watching them anyway. I've been subbed for at least a year or two and I never tried any styles, even when I had hair down to my butt. I just enjoy watching the process! You seem like a sweet person.
I totally love all of your videos! The way that you convey information is sheer genius and I just think you are a goddess when it comes to inner and outer beauty.
Thanks, these are so helpful. I would really appreciate another video on hairstyles for straight hair. My hair just doesn't hold curls for longer than a couple of hours, so I really love it when you do hairstyles on straight hair.
My hair is like that. You should try using the twist and pull method with flat iron. I also use volumizing mousse and Redken Hot Sets before I curl, and of course hairspray afterwards. It all goes a long way in making the curls last.
I tried all those things, but none of my curls ever lasted longer than a few hours. I am also trying to grow my hair, so I try to avoid using heat on my hair. My hair also is very long already and thick and heavy on top of that, so all the weight pulling down is not helpful as well.
Have you tried just French or Dutch braiding your hair when it's damp and keeping it in there overnight, or any sort of heatless curl? My hair isn't straight but it doesn't hold heated curls at all because it's so thick and long, but heatless styles work much better, and braid waves are easy to achieve
I've tried a whole bunch of different heatless methods, nothing lasts. Braiding gives me slight waves that hold up for two hours maybe. I also experimented with a variety of products which I put in my hair before curling it overnight, but those didn't help much either. I've pretty much given up on it and accepted that I'll always have straight hair, at least as long as I want to wear it long :)
I subscribed because you explained that you are giving women tools to choose how we want to style ourselves...I love that you want to empower your viewers
Thank you so much for these great ideas. I used to have the thickest hair in the world, but recent illness caused it to fall out by about 2/3 my original amount of hair. I have been so upset but these are really easy ways to trick the eye. Thanks for the positive message and for being aware that these things can help us feel how we want to feel without making us feel worse about ourselves. ❤
Kayley!! This has to be my all-time fave video from you! 1. Your your mid-vid rant - YASS!! Your perspective and positivity makes all the difference, and that’s something we could all practice for ourselves. 2. I love these hairline/volume tips, and prefer to frame my face like this, too! 3. That toothbrush song / “Hairbrush” Veggie Tales homage in the bloopers! 😆 Lastly, thanks for the bell-notification tip!!! I’m not sure why TH-cam keeps making things harder to stay up with our fave TH-cam content makers! 😤 Thanks again!! 💝💝
I recently found your videos, and I am enthralled! I was never taught to do girly stuff, so TH-cam is providing me great teachers like you! Thank you! 😊
I'm so glad to find a youtuber styling hair that didn't roll up with picture-perfect hair before the tutorial even started. (not that you don't look gorgeous both ways)! From your face shape to hair thickness and length, all of these tips are so helpful and insightful. Thank you so much.
I get the scalp showing through the hair strands on the sides when I put my hair up in a ponytail, too, but, I've found that simply brushing it with a hairbrush is a miracle fix, it smooths all of the hair together and makes it look a lot better. A fine toothed comb can also work, though the hairbrush is better. It's such a quick and easy fix!!!
I tried the brow powder along my hairline when wearing the ponytail - awesome - looks so natural - soooo happy with it! And the toothbrush trick works too - thanks a big bunch :)
I have a similar forehead to yours and I have always been self-conscious about it, but you make me feel more confident because you are just so beautiful!!!
ccap3211 yes, it's extremely hilarious and usually based on Bible stories. It's an excellent series (the old ones at least). They are a beautiful way to teach young children the truths of the Gospel.
Sarah Turner aww that's cool! I wasn't sure! I never watched it as a kid and I'm an atheist now so I still won't be watching it but the characters sure look cute! Haha
ccap3211 that's sad, it's great. But as an adult, it's more about nostalgia and the message than the actual show, so it might not have the same effect on you anyway. I hope you can find the gospel in something else more suited to your age. I'll be praying for you!
Sarah Turner oh I’ve heard the gospel. Lol I went to a catholic school and church so it’s nothing new. I just don’t believe in it all. That’s nice of you to care I guess but I’m happier than I’ve ever been.
I love the positive message you share! I think we don’t always get that message of “do what is right for you”’ from the beauty industry and so that was really nice to hear! 💕
I have a big forehead and very fine silky hair so I absolutely am going to use the tips you talked about in this video! I already use eyeshadow for my hairline, but I definitely need to check out those hair building fibres now too!
Thanks for all the tips and the inside info on before/ after shots for hair "vitamins". I never would've known your hair was fine if you hadn't mentioned it. You uplifted me today. Thanks! 👏👏👏
This was super useful, thank you! I have extremely thin hair because of a chronic disease, and have this exact problem above my temples. I hope these products come in blonder shades, too. Is the powder talc-based? Because that's very drying. You are very sweet btw:)
Good tips but I thought the colours you used were too red for your hair? Edit: Seriously, really really good tips. I will definitely use them, thank you so much. The colour difference I see could be the camera too. :)
Early squad! These tips are gonna be great! For my short curly hair, I slick it back, then mess it up for volume, but natural curls give volume already. Love these!
I neeeeeeded this video, my hair is very similar to your hair Kayley, and I have the peaks with sparse baby hairs that won't grow if their life depended on it, so these tips are very helpful! I will use the hair flip day to day, and the filling in the hairline when I do my photo and video shoots (because I'm too lazy to do it every day 😂)! Thanks girl!
The first hair powder looked really natural but the clairol was slightly too red in your hair for some reason! I’ve been wanting to try this so bad! I just don’t want to waste money buying the wrong color 😭😭😭! I’m a flipper too ! I have been since 6th grade ! And got a bunch of girls doing the same ! For sure makes your hair look fuller and sexier in seconds just changes your face too!!
I love your very helpful tip especially covering up scalp areas with makeup. I also loved your vegetaale reference. Thank u so much for being yourself.
You, one of my Main inspiration todo afirm, if i have more forehead just reveals big inteligencia and great personallity, watching your videos improve my confidence.. we do not need any hair surgery or transplant, just a big smile!!!
"I'm not giving you a rule, I'm giving you a tool" I feel like that has to be a punchline at the end of all your videos, or tutorial videos in general, because it's so important!
Indy D what’s so weird is that the moment I read this comment, Kayley said the exact same thing at the exact same time in the video.. lol
I think you mean tag line
*YOLO positivevibes* same
I am a girl my name is Londyn
I was bullied in school relentlessly for having a "weird" hairline" or "bald spot", and to hear your disclaimer about wanting to be encouraging and positive when it comes to playing with your hair as opposed to "fixing" hair "problems" honestly made me cry, because I really needed to hear that. :') Thank you. And thank you for the tips. ❤️
Catherine Davies same i have this little bald spot thing just above my fore head and i can’t do anything that’ll show it
SUPERSTARRRR
Ikr I almost cried at that part 😭
My hair is so damn flat that when I flip it it just looks awkward. Tell me I'm not the only one.
Adriana L Do you always wear the same part? I used to be just like you, when I tried to flip it it looked so stupid! I just changed my part by parting my hair while wet on different side and blowdrying, after of couple times I can flip my hair/change parting whenever I want!
Yeah, I always keep it in the middle cause that's how it naturally stays. But thanks for the tip, I'll try it!!
I know exactly what you mean. I part my hair in the middle as well because it never looks right when I try something else and I'm so used to it that I get annoyingly aware of my hair when I have a side part.
Yea same, I hate my flat hair so much lol
Try dry shampoo in the roots
That is so kind of you to convey that the way you look is not something to be ashamed of, but a true beauty, and hairstyles and makeup are to make you happy and feel good! I was crying inside! Love you Kayley!
So well said “ I’m not giving you a rule but a tool” Honest and sincere video. Thank you!

Her little speech between 6:20 to 7:40 , a big final factor that got me to hit that subscribe button. 💛
I love these root-focused volume tips, because that's what I really need as someone with super thick, wavy hair. Otherwise I just get the dreaded pyramid hair. (Even the powder trick was helpful because my hair is oddly thin at the temples)
I have the same problem. Super thick wavy hair at the bottom but the top just falls so flat. I really hate the look of it haha ':)
aurit meiri i love my hair and marie marie
Chris B with curly hair (I'm a curly woman too ;) ) what I love to do is flip my hair upside-down and just weave my fingers through my hair on my scalp and "mess" it up a little and then pull my fingers out. Classic heavy hair situation
Yes! I too have thick long hair but it’s mad flat at the roots!
TIP: instead of spending money on hair fibers which can be expensive, get a tinted dry shampoo! Its made to add volume and the tint will do what the fibers would have done
Is there a good low or unscented one for brunettes?
thebez I’ve enjoyed the mineral fusion brand. It’s not a spray-on like other dry shampoos, but an actual powder. It comes in a couple different shades and it’s nice on its own or to add to other super volume-building powders to tint them.
Sometimes dry shampoo can make hair fall even more :(
Been there.
@@americacastro4069 you can use a black pencil or pigmented eyeshadow. That works very well too
Finally a TH-camr with fine hair! Subscribed!
My hair is literally eight times as thick as Kayley's... But I'm still watching cuz I love her videos
Annalise same but I love adding volume at my roots so that it doesn't look like a pyramid so this is actually somewhat helpful imo
...I got dreadlocks so I can’t really even use any of the tips, but I still watch cuz I love Kayley ❤️
Annalise I'm jealous lol 😛😛
Annalise thick hair doesn't get as much volume at the roots because it's so heavy so some of these tips are helpful for thick hair.
Chris B I have subtle layers so I don't have that problem although I know what you mean
1. flip your hair (get a section and move it over old parting)
2. tease hair using toothbrush
3. use hair building fibres
4. brow powders
Recently I started wondering why my hair never looked good, and the first trick helps so so much!!
you are most honest also useful advice, thanks for help
Hi Kayley, Always love your tips! I had the space at my forehead for many years, due to heavy hair worn in ponytails. I started putting pure castor oil (hexane-free, cold pressed...Jamaican Black Castor Oil is wonderful too) on those spots overnight before I washed my hair...although even 30 minutes before shampooing will help too....and within 3 months I had loads of baby hairs and a year later both sides are totally filled in. Give it a try. :)
I put castor oil on my eyelashes and they grew a ton :) I also recommend it for that
I"ve heard this works well for growing long eyelashes...but I can't seem to get the technique and get the stuff in my eyes..ouch! :)
Emma MacGregor maybe use a disposable mascara wand?
where do you get pure castor oil? whenever i go to the beauty supply store they have castor oil but it always has added ingredients in it😭
I use it on my bottom eye lashes, I had zero lashes and using it every night, I finally have lashes, more than just wisps! yay!
The speech in this video made my day. Thanks Kayley, you deserve the world!!!
This is my first video that i watched in her channel and few minutes in this video i can already say that i like her, and i don't even know why. Halfway through this vid, i said, now i know why. yes but be aware that it can give you a bad headache the following day when your roots are bending!
Oh my gosh! The Where is My Hairbrush/Toothbrush reference at the end! That was so great. Great video! Love you Kayley!
Wasn't that from veggie tales?? I was looking for a comment about that and saw yours.
She is so sweet and nice! I really appreciate her take on the beauty industry!!
thanks dear where are you from
I loved the philosophy major in you.. you are considerate about how you make other girls feel
I know you're struggling with your eyebrows as you mentioned in one of your other videos, but (as a person who's constantly struggling with even/similar/natural eyebrows) I have to say, that I love your eyebrows!! You are so upbeat and fun! I feel younger when I watch your videos and try the tricks. Keep up the cool vibes!
Dear Kayley,
Could you please do some hairstyles which could be done before going to bed to keep the hair in good health?
I love your videos, Thank you so much!!
Yassss please
Do a simple braid. I like to add hair tonic (biolage is my favorite) and I do a braid. Also, if your hair is feeling really dry, try doing a coconut oil treatment and washing it out. It really helps. I also avoid most hair dyes and only use henna. It is permanent though.
Sarah Brown that’s exactly what I do😂

Great video. Great tips. Great personality!
listen. i only have one good side if i flip my hair i dont look good😭😂
Saaaame and moreover I have volume only on the right side the left side just lays flat!
Same girl 😥
Ik! Same!

Girl, we literally have the same forehead and hair type. Thanks for the tips. I'm excited to try them out!
Thanks! 👏👏👏
The flip really worked for me! this seemed so silly and simple but it worked
This was super useful, thank you! I have extremely thin hair because of a chronic disease, and have this exact problem above my temples. I hope these products come in blonder shades, too. Is the powder talc-based? Because that's very drying. You are very sweet btw:)
Your philosophy made me subscribe. I already love you 😊
Good tips but I thought the colours you used were too red for your hair? Edit: Seriously, really really good tips. I will definitely use them, thank you so much. The colour difference I see could be the camera too. :)
I love your energy! Thanks for the tips ❤️
Thank you !
You seem like a very nice person :)
For sure makes your hair look fuller and sexier in seconds just changes your face too!!
hey kayley if you ever read this i think the hairstyle you wore looked just like the 90's mall hair but you made it better. love your videos
This is so helpful for a fine/thin/straight-haired girl like myself! Thank you!
I’ve literally never really thought of these things 😂 this is magical
Super helpful. You always do such a great job, Kayley!
I love your very helpful tip especially covering up scalp areas with makeup. I also loved your vegetaale reference. Thank u so much for being yourself.
Fantastic soapbox-thank you so much for your perspective and all your tips and tricks 😊👏
I love the little outtakes at the end XD It just makes me love you and your channel even more!
I love your heart!!! What a wonderful message to put out there! Keep it up girl!! 💕
Fantastic tips, Kayley! I’m looking forward to trying them out ... especially on my Dutch braids! Great job! ❤️😊
