Another tip I learned from my hairstylist and completely changed everything for me is this: don’t keep your hair parted the same way every day. If you have a middle part on one day switch it to a slightly different part the next day (sweep it to the right side, then the left side the next day and sweep it back) better yet don’t part your hair at all. You hair is heavier than you think, if you keep you hair parted in the middle it will pull down. It will quickly create a low cranial top at first, your hair will go flat and in some time it will lead to a bald spot
YES. I learnt it the hard way. I parted my hair in the middle everyday for almost 10 years and now I have a permanent middle part and nothing works. So do this folks if you don't want a runner in your head
I realized it at such a young age and couldn't explain it to anyone, cause people wouldn't understand it properly. Finally it's being talked about. High cranial top makes really big difference. Also fluffier hair on the top makes a face look smaller and more proportionate.
I noticed it too! For convenience I always put my hair up in tighter hairstyles (i.e. neat high ponytails and the like), but I noticed sometimes when I do messier ponytails and there is a weird bump in the middle of my hair it actually made my face look better in some explicable way. I didn't realise this was an actual thing, but looking back I guess it was because the upper portion of my face is a little smaller than the 1:1:1 ratio so adding a bit of volume up top fools the eye a little!
Same. I always explained as if I had a short forehead, so I needed to pull a ‘Amy Whinehouse’ to make it seem like it was bigger, wich made everyone think I as was crazy for thinking that because I don’t have a short forehead at all indeed, it’s hella normal but I just couldn’t understand what it was myself in order to explain properly 🤦🏼♀️ I’m so glaad I found this 🥲
Same! I got my hair permed when I was a child and didn’t it like it when it was at first bone straight and flat to my head, i always felt like i looked weird

As a black girl, l will definitely use these tips for when I wear wigs. Also if your getting a protective style like box braids, maybe try placing more braids at the crown of your head to create the illusion of a high cranial top (but you might need to make the braids smaller so they don't look bulky). I have never done this before so try at your own risk lol
And here I thought this wouldn’t apply to us. I still don’t get it lol. I figured what they’re tb is how much volume you have at the front of head. Oor a straight hairline as opposed to a rounded one. The wider your forehead the less volume you’d have with straight hair vs the taller narrower…Nonetheless my voluminous afro cannot compute.
I was going to say! This is why big natural styles like afros usually look good on me and other black girls it creates more volume at the top to balance out the face
omg, my mom added more braids to my hair than usual like a couple months ago. At first, I thought it would look so bad on me, but after watching this video I realized she naturally gave me a high cranial part with braids. she’s also the one who told me to try lighter hair( clearly we see who knows best between her and I 😆) when I would straighten my hair, I’d always push it up in the back then flatten my hair to see the difference. I’d prefer my hair in a high cranial top, but didn’t know there was a term for it until now. I just thought of it as volume, which it is similar too. With the fuller braids, I noticed I warmed up quicker to my hair than usual and it made a difference on camera too. My head looked rounder and hair looked taller in the best way ever. Braids are already flattering, but I was so shocked at the difference from the fuller braids. I was a bit off and upset, because new hairstyle jitters. Not even an hour or couple later, I was like “Wow.” It gave off such an elegant, classy, and ethereal look. Don’t worry, your tip is actually very helpful 🫶🏽but still try carefully lovely black girls, because you know what fits you best and what you/don’t like

@@almamater489 hi, I understand how you feel, but you should know that beauty standards are completely different depending on when and where you are. For example in a lot of Asian countries it’s considered beautiful to be slim without so much curves. A lot of Asian people also consider it more beautiful to be very pale. In America it’s considered beautiful to have big boobs, small waist and round hips and butt. Americans also prefer tanned people over pale people. In the 1960s it was trendy to wear dresses that didn’t cinch the waist, they wanted to dress boyish, without showing any curves at all. Being pale used to be seen as high class; because it meant you were rich enough to not have to work outside in the sun. It was the same with being overweight, if you were chubby it meant you could afford to buy lots of food. Now it’s the complete opposite in some places. Also let’s not forget how many phases peoples poor eyebrows have had to go through just because the beauty standards are constantly changing. What I’m trying to say is that beauty standards don’t mean shit and in five years what we see as “perfect” and “most beautiful” right now can be COMPLETELY different. Try not to beat yourself up so much about it. Also it can help a bit to think that even if just 1% of the worlds population would think you’re gorgeous, that would still be 78 million people who find you attractive. Love yourself because you’re the only person in the world who you’ll be forever stuck with no matter what and living with someone you hate 24/7 sounds awful
i reccomend dry shampoo spray it gives volume when you spray on the roots it’s probably not as good as the one here but it works well for me and i have long hair
It's okay thooo I'm sure you look really pretty :> But there are many many ways to add volume, like cutting your hair in layers, using the flat iron technique, using hair products etc..
Hi Peachies! We see there are comments asking where to get the tools to achieve high cranial top hairstyles. Here are the tools that are mentioned in the video😚 Thank you! 1. I have a high cranial top naturally and I used to literally cry about it cuz I thought it look so dumb and no one else in my family had it so that me even more insecure but seeing how many people want it makes me feel so much better
It's just a tip or an idea. Why are you all putting beauty standards into this? Is the insecurity level that high? Nothing positive in your life anymore?
I love how this account has very specific recomendations for everyone and actually deep analysis. I've never seen someone explain in such detail beauty things to enhance our own characteristics. It's always those perfect beautiful girls who don't give tips that work for everyone, just for them. But this is really good! Because it's not about changing to unrealistic beauty standards, but to do little changes that are in our capability to do to look better without damaging or hiding our bodies. I'm so in love!
oh wow this was so helpful! my hair naturally has a lot of volume at the ends but not much at the roots and i've always felt my hair is so flat on top yet really fluffy at the bottom. i'm definitely going to try these tricks, thank you!
OH MY GOD!! ive been searching for a way to make that area look smaller, but i didnt know what it was called.. now ik that it's called a high cranial top! tysm for this
🥺 thank youuuu, in my teenage years I was so uncomfortable with how flat my hairs were, they were long heavy and I was so insecure and I’ve been wearing ponytails all the time from there on, my hairs been falling off a lot due to the tight ponytail. I can’t believe it’s been this long, I can finally wear my hairs down now 😢❤️ so much thanks!!! I’ll try this right away!
Wow finally. I’ve literally been wondering how to achieve that fullness at the crown that I never naturally have and literally no one knows what I’m talking about. But ofc this channel does 😂 I swear I’ve been waiting for this for years
As stated in the video, low or high cranial top doesnt define how beautiful you are. It's the matter of defining what features you have a embrace a style that fits you the most!! If anyone feels insecure abt having low cranial top, remember that most people don't actually know the difference!!! You do what looks good on you ;))
@@sleepygirl96 I had no idea, I just thought i had a misshapen head and like, and the whole hairline is visible so I was just like :/ big head but now I guess I see it differently!!!
@@rewdskwid actually there are some parts of asia where you STILL don't have Straightner and hair dryer hanging around in your house just like that. Woah- I used to hate having a high cranial top because I didn’t like the ways that high poneytails looked on me, but this gave me a new view.. thank you!
I Love that this is being talked about. I always felt like there was something about my hair and head shape that made it look like something was missing so I would widen and heighten my cranial hair to balance it . Teasing it, using dry shampoo, using hairspray or using a straightener like in the video. Now I know even more about it.

IZ*ONE's Wonyoung made me notice this style and after trying it on myself, I realized how much it helps improve the look of my face shape. Thanks for all the tips on how to do it! Time to improve my methods!
If you don't have a straightner like that, you can use a blow drying brush and blow dryer at heat setting. Keep the brush under the scalp and blow hot air, let it cool and Remove. It works same💙
I was wondering the whole time why my hair looks so flat even though I have a thick hair. I realized, I just have a low cranial top. Thank you so much for this video, your tips are really helpful!
I love the way they said it depends on which style suits you and which style you’re aiming to. It’s the first time I’ve seen a video about beauty standards act modest and not make people think they’re ugly lol
@@TakenbyDesign ahhh sorry! In the video it says a straightener that's the width of your finger, or just less than two fingers xx Edit: I think that's around one inch xx
Lucy Hale from PLL has this and it makes her look younger. When I was younger, I wanted ny hair to look like that, but because of my oval shape, it never looked good
actually, oval shape is "considered" a perfect face shape for women. it is said that every hair style would look good on women with an oval face. for example: beyonce. i'm sure it was not that bad looking:)
*TLDR:* *-Adding height on the top, but not the sides, of your head, makes your face look taller and bigger, which can make you look more elegant.* *-Adding height on the top **_and_** sides makes your head look bigger compared to your face, which makes your face smaller and cuter.* *-Therefore, high cranial top, while it is not a bad feature, can either make you look cuter or more elegant depending on how you style it.* *-So saying someone has a high cranial top doesn't really mean anything in terms of defining their personal aesthetic.* This is interesting. It is important to learn about beauty from a place of understanding of facial aesthetics. I think having a shorter face is cuter, because it resembles a baby, and looks very innocent and sweet-natured. However, having a taller face is the opposite: it is a more grown up look, reflecting the wisdom, maturity, and grace that comes as you grow- it is more elegant. As you said, whether you like cute style or elegant style is an individual choice. The emphasis on cranial top is a good first step, however, it does not give the full picture. If you emphasize only the top, without emphasizing the sides, it will make your face taller, which will make you look more elegant. I try to do this with buns, ponytails, and other high updo's because I personally like the elegant look, but I have a round little baby face. If your hairstyle is like a perm, for example, it doesn't just add to the height of your head, but also to the sides, which can give the appearance of a larger head, and by contrast, a smaller face. This makes your face look cuter. So having a high cranial top can either work in favour of cuteness or elegance (Do not despair, high cranial top, girls! You still have a lot of individual choice♡). High cranial top is not like, say, fringe, which shortens the face, pretty much no matter which style you get (although finding the right style of fringe for you is also important, if you want to go in that direction!) The women in this video who have low cranial top also have an elegant look already. Take Dilraba Dilmurat, for example. She has that beautiful forehead, which is so tall. She also has a slim jaw and a long facial midsection. This all gives her the elegant queenly look. If she had a high cranial top (without anything on the sides), that would heighten her face further, which might look like overkill. So although low cranial top won't add height to your face, it doesn't necessarily make you more elegant or cuter, it is just neutral.
TLDR of this High cranial top -makes you look cuter, and defines your facial feature Low cranial top - you seem more mature/older, pretty neutral You can try to mimic high cranial top with up-dos, which add elegance and flatters your facial features Height to the top (high cranial) make you seem cuter, while adding height to the sides and top, makes you seem more elegant and mature.
How have I gone through more than 40 years of my life without this trick?!! Life changing! I've tried all kinds of volumizing mousses, curling irons, curlers, perms, and just seconds with a hair clip and a blowdryer I finally have volume! Thank you so, so much for your channel!
I’ve tried a Jennie haircut but it never looked the same now that I know I will use this method!!! Yay!! When she said everyday products I thought like toilet paper rolls 😂

Ive never heard of this, I always thought my high cranial top looked weird or like I had a wig on. I always thought I should make my hair flatter on my head for this reason. But looking at these I realized I've always had that look! I had no idea it was a good thing to some people! 🤣 I feel more confident.
your channel is a life saver! I personally have curly hair and it's already voluminous but my friends with straight hair found this video very helpful so thank you so much!
I feel like this is something old people have realized, at least my grandma uses something to lift her hair like that and I always thought it was dumb 🧍🏽♀️ but now..
tell me why growing up i was always insecure about the shape of my head and how my hair fell over it and how it wasn't "flat" like other girls and now i find out that people are actually trying to achieve this pointy head look lolol this makes me happy
Same, I used to hate it. Especially when the flower crown headband trend was around because my head would not cooperate lol. This made me feel a bit better.
I mean, like she said,it depends on your face. If you got a long face already and don't need your high top then it might look bad. but if your face isn't long, having the hair flat will just make the face look round and fat. (which I can give a thumbs up to because that's exactly my problem. I always thought I was just lacking volume in general)
@@jos-josradvanji6203 true, all beauty is subjective to the individual. however the main point of my comment was to simply highlight how i found it heartwarming that some people find something i used to be ashamed of as admirable. i think it's a poor judgement of you to comment that there are conditions under which having having a "high top" might look bad, as that is not only a hypercritical statement, but you're also further feeding into invasive ideas and essentially saying that some girls look bad, for everyone to read on the internet likely including some sensitive populations. while i don't think you meant your comment to come off this way or negatively at all, but i encourage you to think about the phrasing of your words and to further think about the implications of what you say, especially on this comment that was aimed to spread a positive message only

Awesome! Thank you so much! I don't like wearing bangs because I just don't look good with them but my face is round and in the last year I've gained weight and have gone through a lot of stress. The stress has also caused some sag at the bottom of my face, I'm 47 but that's never mattered to me and I know its because of the stressful circumstances. I'm working on getting healthy again but how wonderful that your beauty tips will help me appear more refreshed and motivate my new journey. I really appreciate how organized and how lovely you make your videos. Keep up the great work!
for a permanent solution, you can try to grow your hairline. Not recommended if you already have a low hairline/small forehead, but for me my forehead is on the larger size so i use hair serums to make it smaller
this would be effective but it will not change the inherent distance between the top most point of the head and the eyes. the trick is to achieve that ratio between the line from the flat of the head to the bottom of chin and line from the flat of the head to eyes. idk if u get what im saying. we use these 1/3rd 2/3rd ratios to draw a well proportioned face in art class
@@buldakcarboboth! I had some hairloss so it did help my hair become fuller, but I noticed the most result on my hairline since little hairs started popping bellow my existing hairline making it lower!

Interestingly, I have low cranial top because its a beauty standard here to have flat heads. So since birth, babies are only made to sleep in a specific position so that the skull becomes flatter over a period of a month or a bit more. If you have a middle part on one day switch it to a slightly different part the next day (sweep it to the right side, then the left side the next day and sweep it back) better yet don’t part your hair at all. If y'all feel offended for smth so little idk what to say to yall.
I've noticed this for a long time and felt a little insecure about it- but the photo exercise in the beginning helped me to realize it's probably a more flattering choice for me to use a low cranial top style anyway! Thx :)

Nah…I have a big forehead so I put a flat cloth headband in the front section of my hair to lay it. That way the same effect is there with no heat damage. I have natural cowlicks in the front of my hair I have to part in the middle to lay. Like the curtain bangs area.
If you naturally have voluminous or curly hair you can make your cranial top look higher by cutting short layers in the back. It doesn’t need to be much, only some thin layers that sit on top of your hair will add a lot of volume to it
Omg i finally found out why i look terrible when my hair is voluminous on top. I have a long oval face and a naturally slightly low cranial top. Wearing a high cranial top hairstyle makes my face look awkward

Love yourself because you’re the only person in the world who you’ll be forever stuck with no matter what and living with someone you hate 24/7 sounds awful
my cranial top is literally as flat as it gets 😭
i reccomend dry shampoo spray it gives volume when you spray on the roots it’s probably not as good as the one here but it works well for me and i have long hair

Yup I want a lower cranial top. I have a long face
I clicked on this video expecting it to teach me how to make my cranial top look less high.😂😂😂
Mine is like a rectangle it's so bony like if I went bald it would be OVER
I love how this account has very specific recomendations for everyone and actually deep analysis.
Now I understand everything, this is the reason why whenever I got disorganized the upper part of my hair always looked better, I'm going to do it!

No wonder the top of my head looks so big
I have a high cranial so when I put on wigs it makes the top look big rather than flat 😭
oh wow this was so helpful! my hair naturally has a lot of volume at the ends but not much at the roots and i've always felt my hair is so flat on top yet really fluffy at the bottom. i'm definitely going to try these tricks, thank you!
OH MY GOD!! ive been searching for a way to make that area look smaller, but i didnt know what it was called.. now ik that it's called a high cranial top! tysm for this

Because we already have the "ideal" face shape and that hairstyle elongates our faces out of proportion
This channel is✨GOLD✨I'm glad I found you😻
Honestly you're the only TH-cam who actually gives good beauty advice not just buy this or that please keep up the good work I watch all your videos
*TLDR:*
*-Adding height on the top, but not the sides, of your head, makes your face look taller and bigger, which can make you look more elegant.*
*-Adding height on the top **_and_** sides makes your head look bigger compared to your face, which makes your face smaller and cuter.*
*-Therefore, high cranial top, while it is not a bad feature, can either make you look cuter or more elegant depending on how you style it.*
*-So saying someone has a high cranial top doesn't really mean anything in terms of defining their personal aesthetic.*
This is interesting.
High cranial top is not like, say, fringe, which shortens the face, pretty much no matter which style you get (although finding the right style of fringe for you is also important, if you want to go in that direction!)
The women in this video who have low cranial top also have an elegant look already. So although low cranial top won't add height to your face, it doesn't necessarily make you more elegant or cuter, it is just neutral.
thank you for explaining this so well!
I need a tldr of your tldr
THANK U
I'll read this later
TLDR of this
High cranial top
-makes you look cuter, and defines your facial feature
Low cranial top
- you seem more mature/older, pretty neutral
You can try to mimic high cranial top with up-dos, which add elegance and flatters your facial features
Height to the top (high cranial) make you seem cuter, while adding height to the sides and top, makes you seem more elegant and mature.
These tricks were key for hairstyles in the past.

I mean, like she said,it depends on your face. If you got a long face already and don't need your high top then it might look bad.

@@jos-josradvanji6203 true, all beauty is subjective to the individual. however the main point of my comment was to simply highlight how i found it heartwarming that some people find something i used to be ashamed of as admirable. i think it's a poor judgement of you to comment that there are conditions under which having having a "high top" might look bad, as that is not only a hypercritical statement, but you're also further feeding into invasive ideas and essentially saying that some girls look bad, for everyone to read on the internet likely including some sensitive populations. while i don't think you meant your comment to come off this way or negatively at all, but i encourage you to think about the phrasing of your words and to further think about the implications of what you say, especially on this comment that was aimed to spread a positive message only

for a permanent solution, you can try to grow your hairline. Not recommended if you already have a low hairline/small forehead, but for me my forehead is on the larger size so i use hair serums to make it smaller
Could you share what hair serum you use?
this would be effective but it will not change the inherent distance between the top most point of the head and the eyes. the trick is to achieve that ratio between the line from the flat of the head to the bottom of chin and line from the flat of the head to eyes. idk if u get what im saying. we use these 1/3rd 2/3rd ratios to draw a well proportioned face in art class

Another tip I learned from my hairstylist and completely changed everything for me is this:
don’t keep your hair parted the same way every day. If you have a middle part on one day switch it to a slightly different part the next day (sweep it to the right side, then the left side the next day and sweep it back) better yet don’t part your hair at all. You hair is heavier than you think, if you keep you hair parted in the middle it will pull down. It will quickly create a low cranial top at first and in some time it will lead to a bald spot

I'm really happy because my hair is that way naturally 🥺✨
If you naturally have voluminous or curly hair you can make your cranial top look higher by cutting short layers in the back. It doesn’t need to be much, only some thin layers that sit on top of your hair will add a lot of volume to it
