Tbh LFG is my favorite out of all of the googans. He just seems so chill and down-to-earth and that he really appreciates life. With all the nature shots it’s almost like I’m watching a nature show I love it!

When I was a child, we would go to the spillway on the Ross Barnett near Jackson MS. The water ran fast so,we would have to throw up stream with a jig. We would start counting 1,2,3,4,5 if we didn’t catch a fish or get hung up in the rocks we would count to 6. Then 7 then 8..
ONCE YOU GET DIALED IN ITS PARTY TIME.
I WAS 10 or 12 I don’t remember exactly but that was close to 50 years ago. They weighed anywhere from 2 to 4 pounds. I used to have photos but after divorces, moving all over the sates it disappeared. But your excitement reminded me of this story I just told you

I live in Minnesota and two years ago on the lake my cabin is on, I caught a 17.5 in crappie and it was a literal monster and I still have the picture of it

Sounds like a story you retold too many times. Easy on the beer and the fish don't get so big, the record is about 5.5 lbs. Are you talking ounces? Oops misread the in for inches. Next time I'll go easy on the beer and use my glasses 🤣🙄😅🙄

Crappie was my Dad and our past time fishing together! Some my best my best childhood memories!
My brother-in-law came to the U.P. of Michigan from below the bridge for the 4th, raving about this recipe. He made some up with some largemouth he caught up here and I was impressed. I just did a couple of packs of crappie and big bluegills with the wing sauce today and they were fantastic!

Catfish and crappie are the best freshwater fish to eat hands down. Those sweet and tender crappie fillets fried crispy on a poboy bun with coleslaw and whatever fixings you like on the bun. Really good eating.

Biggest crappie I ever caught was a 16.5 white fishing a pre-rigged red plastic worm. Those with the two hooks. Was fishing a CoE lake tossing that worn into standing brush at about 5 feet of water looking for bass. I was 14 at the time fishing with an uncle. That was 50 years ago.

LFG & LFD I think I would sacrifice the family jewels (um their 74 years old, don’t need anymore) to go on that fishing trip just for the crappie alone! I’ve never ever seen crappie that BIG, seriously. By far the absolute best fresh water fish to eat, bar none. Here in Louisiana we have some fairly good size white crappie but these make ours look like babies. The thickness reminds me of about a nice size largemouth fillet! Seriously I would love to go on that trip!!! Call next time I will even hump the bags and gear and other equipment from the house to the truck, into the cabin, to the boats and back to the cabin everyday plus fillet all the crappie caught and get em ready to cook. Man I’d even furnish all the liquid refreshment for the trip. Do you think I want to go really bad? Yep I do believe I do!!! Awesome video guys awesome video.

Yall need to do like a a couple weeks up in Canada catching n cooking Walleyes, Pike and Crappies. Maybe catch some Lake Trout, maybe meet up with uncut angling. Go after some Brookies and of course Smallmouth. I dont know I just love these series of up north vidjas!
I was fishing in north Wichita Kansas and caught a 16 inch crappie, and caught no smaller than 14. It was nuts
@LakeForkGuy try a steelhead rod, 2 piece, 8'6" rod with plenty of backbone for anything short of a 40" skie, let's you cast a mile with small stuff, and super sensitive. Also try smaller beetlespins for larger fish location. Faster water coverage and plenty of flash to bring them in when they're aggressive.
I'm from missouri and the biggest crappie I've caught here 18.5" and weighed 2lbs 3oz

Hi LFG I know you won't see this and this is more to myself but you inspire me so much. after seeing you go through the brain tumor and go through hard and stressful times in your life. you look for the positive things in life by fishing and you were rewarded because OSG is pregnant. You don't realize everything you do for me.

Really cool vid. Do what you want you caught them, but those 14 and 15 inchers are very important to the fishery. Those are the ones you want breeding in order to keep big ones in the lake for years to come. As a fishing figure people look up too, maybe you can help educate the community into taking home a limit of 10 11 inchers and throwing back the trophy’s to insure the future of the fishery.
Obviously if only one person does it, the lake will be fine. But if everyone keeps big ones. There won’t be any 16 inchers for anyone to catch.

My favorite fish to catch. My boys and husband are into big catfish and bass. I love “the lady fish”, crappie and bluegill. Try some masa flour in your flour dredge. It gives it some nice corn essence without the grittiness of cornmeal..

For sure, a self-rising yellow corn mill and flower with leaving the skin on or off to your liking. For me, it would be like the difference between grilling a T-Bone and bolling it to eat.
