- Crappie fishing on the famous big bass lake, lake fork! I have fished for bass on this lake for many years, but never targeted white and black crappie. Today I'm targeting shallow brush for spawning crappie using a mepps spinner and crappie jig with ultra light fishing tackle.

catching catfish and bass is cool, but I like the taste of crappie and bluegill. what color baits you like to use? I just got turned on to pink and white, or pink and silver.
Crappie fishin was my childhood, out on the boat with my papaw. I was an awesome fishin kid...always ready to roll, day or night. Lake of the Pines, Caddo, Toledo Bend...Nothing like falling asleep on the bottom of the boat listening to the waves and the smell of fish!! Such good memories you have brought back to me. I live in Kansas and I cant wait for the water temp to rise in the lakes. I fish a tournament this weekend at Perry lake and the lake is 15 ft high with a water temp of 46 degrees. Got any tips on how to catch some bass?

Great video of crappie fishing. The current World Record for a White Crappie is held in Water Valley, Mississippi, 5lb 3oz, caught in Lake Enid Reservoir 07/31/1957 by Fred Bright. Hard to believe that record is still standing today... That's a BIG Hammer on a dangle.

Toby Freier if your not doing good at fork I’d Suggest running up to lake welsh. Its an hour away from fork.

If you not doing good suggest you go to lake tawakoni only about 20 minutes away beautiful lake also
Lake fork can be stubborn. Most of the guides fish other areas. I used to fish fork very regularly

catching a big bass is fun, but i heard they don't taste good. we mostly try to fish for bluegill and crappie.... crappie can be fun on the type of pole your using, feels like a big bass putting up a fight lol and you can catch a lot. I heard white bass taste ok, I've caught a couple this year in a river but let them go. what fish you think are good to eat?. blue gill crappie.. maybe white bass I heard was ok. other fish is like "heck yeah!~" then let them go lol idk

Hands down my favorite fish to eat. I usually catch them on minnows but I want to learn to jig for them too. It's bad weather here in San Antonio today so I'm stuck doing the honey do list. I snuck off to watch LFG slay some crappie 🤫🤫🤫

Nicholas Whitewood gotcha bud. You're on the wrong side of the state lol. Erie and pymatunning are excellent fisheries in the early spring. We've been absolutely destroying crappie since early March. Just got into walleye last week but that'll be picking up in Erie next month. 20 plus fish days of big fat 30 inch walleye

It should be a collaborative effort to put together a full crappie experience. Rod&reel combo pre-spooled with a lfg selection of baits, hooks, etc. Now do it for under $75 under the Googan brand.
I'd buy it right away.
Trust me Frankfactor 2, you don't want a reel that has a googan logo on it. That thing sings like a nun with a vibrator.

Techron is good. But what you also need is, REMOVE any factory, aftermarket, whatever, fuel lines from your motor, boat, because they have idiots liner in them.
The liner, that thing crumbles, collapses inside, and makes you howl big wolf once that happens.
Go the the regular car parts store, like autozone, napa, and get plain old car fuel line. Replace your boats fuel lines with that stuff and you will be trouble free, even, if you run occasionally some fuel with ethanol.
Only thing you will have to do is use injector/ carburetor cleaner in your gas, depending on what your engine has, a carb, or EFI.
Factory fuel lines in most cases are a disaster, remember that, and save yourself a ton of headaches and boat dealer visits
I believe that first fish was caught on a Mepps.

Awesome video! My biggest Crappie came from an old coal strip mine reservoir in SE Ohio. 3.9 lbs and nearly 20” length.

I wish i could fish up north...walleye muskie and pike do sound pretty exciting... but i dont think bass should be considered a shitty off catch... they are clean and fight pretty hard... thats what you want in a sportfish
@@ilikefishing6539 i live in indiana up north. we'll catch bass and catfish for fun but if we ant to eat we'll go for crappie and bluegill ive caught a couple nice white bass this week but i let them go, i don't know if they taste good. bass up here is like for fun, not to eat... i don't even know how they taste, fishy?> that's why we just stick to crappie and bluegill, they don't have that river pond fish taste that much. its fun catching those too, all I ever see is ppl catching big bass then letting them go. its fun catching "smaller" fish too depending on the rod your using. what colors you like to use? I have fished fork for 11 years now and finally caught my very first over! in the first week of march during a tournament. highlight of my year so far!
My brother in law took me out on Lake Fork. He pulled up on an area threw me a photo album. I guess the army core of engineering had drained the lake to do some repairs. He drove around and took pictures of all the structure. Everywhere we fished he'd show me the pictures and I knew what was lurking underneath. Can't count how many fish we caught. Was an awesome trip.

This is how Lake Verret in Louisiana used to be before hurricanes come through and wreck everything. Still a great fishery they are just a little smaller. When I was a kid my dad caught a 3 lbs sac-a-lait (crappie anyone outside of LA) the thing was huge. This is the most relaxing type of fishing out there. Love the video LFG

That was a fun video friend. I'm in Arkansas and live on Beaver Lake. I usually fish fork March 15 each year for a week. Not been so good the last three times. Seems every time those last three years a big front went through the night we arrived. I have been there in the past and caught so many my thumbs were all skinned up. I was happy to leave for some rest. It's neat I can watch you work. Fun times.

First time I fished Fork was 1985. My grandpa had a place in Steamboat Shores. We played poker in the afternoon (in the AC), fished bass in the evening, then crappie from dark to around midnight or so. 3 lb crappie were not at all uncommon.

I live on the Coosa in Alabama and I haven’t heard anyone official say “don’t eat Coosa river catfish.” I just don’t like the idea. I get my catfish from a farm where you catch them yourself. They weigh what you keep on the way out. Somehow it’s more appetizing to me. Now crappie is another story. I tear them up!
I love the squiky sound of the fishing line when fish is on.
You should record some of the others reactions when you show them the catch of a big fish. OSG or LFD reactions would be quite warming to see and I am sure they both would be excited see you real it in.
