- Can I Catch Every Fish In The Desert? (22 Species)
I attempted to catch all 22 species (including hybrids and variants) of fish that I've caught here in the valley before. I am specifically fishing the Phoenix area, and only it's urban scenes. Enjoy!

The title of this video sounds like an ancient asian riddle
😂😂😂 that would explain the 50,000+ views lmaoooo
dude had work in the middle of his challange. what a beast.
Actually tho, like how
Haha I’m sure I would’ve gone 22/22 if I didn’t have work
Hiiiiii
living his best life, catching fish. nice man. keep it up.
Thanks man! I appreciate it 🙏
Great idea for a video. Good to see someone with some fresh ideas for fishing content. Love seeing you show off how diverse even a dessert fishery can be.
It’s awesome how many fish there are for sure. Thank you for watching and the positive comment!!
Random youtube popup. Nice job. Lived in the East Valley for 10 years. AZ has some decent fishing but man it's tough. Especially those urban lakes. Unless you have a boat to go out to the big lakes its rough even then. Grew up in PA and now back, talk about different fishing techniques.
Thanks for watching!!! It’s definitely interesting out here
The sprawling savanna is absolutely marvelous
Is that a Mario reference? 😂
Brought a tear to my eyes. Next time you’ll get all 22 🙌 this is definitely my favorite fishing video
Man it was a tough one. I think if I didn’t have a job I’d get it easy
Nice man! I was watching this while my two older daughters were eating breakfast. They got sucked into it and kept watching with me! Well done! Solid editing work and making a longer video a page turner!
Thank you nick!!! Certainly a new style for me but it seems people are liking it. Thank you for watching and say hi to the family for me ❤️🙏
I’m glad TH-cam recommended me this video, love it!!!!
Thank you!!!!
Nice work. I am a fly fisherman from NY and lived in Phoenix for 10 years but never fished there. A striper in Phoenix??? That's crazy. They put up a good fight but nothing like a trout (I also spin reel around the NYC waters). Tigh lines my friend.
Hey! That’s awesome and thanks for watching! Yessir striped bass can be found through various canals mostly in Scottsdale but they’re not very common and usually don’t get big at all.
I have no idea how i got here but im glad i did cant help but appreciate the effort and the fact its an original idea💯
Thanks man that means a lot 🙏
Great fresh idea come to sweden and try it haha for a whole new experience.
Oh man I could only imagine. Thanks for watching!
Just got this vid recommended, such a dope vid and glad it popped off for you
Thanks man!! Me too, so stoked about it 🙌
thanks for fishing AZ and sharing! I've caught carp, flathead, sunfish, striped bass, tilapia, trout, and large mouth bass here.
the little channels are some of the most fun i have fishing in the late summer early fall.
@@TrevPlaysPoorly thanks for watching! All kinds of super cool fish to be caught here for sure. I still need to catch a big channel catfish here, biggest catfish I’ve caught in Arizona it’s just over 5 pounds
Very cool video, I really enjoyed it, very impressive.
Thank you!!!
Beautiful and awesome!! And to honor the most beautiful girl! 😊
❤️❤️❤️
Not gonna lie I had no idea there was this much interesting stuff to fish for in Arizona
Right??? There’s even more than this I believe including minnow species there are 58 species to be caught in all of Arizona. Thanks for watching!!
@FishingWithPorter, Awesome video. This shows me that Arizona fishing is underrated and I'm an avid fisherman who's fished in about half of the states and several countries. If I ever visit Arizona, I definitely want to fish there.
I’m so happy to hear that! Hit me up if you’re ever down here I can show you around
Arizona must be sad that the host of river monsters never came to Arizona to do a program😂
AWESOME video! You should hold a fishing meet up for sure, that would be epic.
See my recent community post! Me, thefishinmagician2.0, southwest fishing, and more are holding a meet and greet / trout fishing day February 3rd!!
your excitement makes this video so good
I always get hyped over cool fish 😎😎 thanks for watching!
Ya gotta go for some of the native species next time! Sonora Sucker, Desert Sucker, Apache Trout, etc, etc! Too many cool ones in your area to ignore! Thanks for the fun video :)
For sure! I only targeted the species I've caught already in this video since I've never caught the suckers or an apache trout. But I definitely want to! Thanks for watching!!
I grew up in East Phoenix. I had no idea this was even possible, dude. Dang.
Haha I wanted to show people what was here! Thanks for watching!!
Oh damn i didnt know there are red breasts in the US besides bets at all. Theyre super fun to target and they should be almost everywhere here in the northern part of south africa but they've been poached, killed by polution or all wiped out by bass and carp. Great video though, great qauilty and it was really entertaining
Oh man that’s crazy. They’re very rare in Arizona but this particular pond is loaded with them. Thanks for watching!
You forgot about roundtail chub, gila mountain suckers ,and Sonoran suckers.also white bass.and pumpkin seed.as well as buffalo carp and white Amur.and whiper aka white bass stiper hybrid.and common pleco. And gila trout.also Mozambique tilapia.oh and cusa bass.aka red eye bass.lets no forget gizzard shad and threadfin shad either…..nice job though..those eastside urban spots are juicy 🤙
Yeah like half of what you just said isn’t in the Phoenix area, it’s up north. I ONLY did the Phoenix area. I did catch a white amur in this video btw. And I also only targeted fish I’ve caught before, as there are a handful of fish in the valley I still have not caught. The title isn’t meant to be taken literally, it’s just to sound intense and exciting. Thanks for watching!
Your can now become known as the “desert fisher”
Too bad my buddies username is desert_fishin 😂
Love the video bro, great catches! I'm always looking for new fishing spots in the valley, so I might have to check some of these places out
Thanks for watching!!
i love how carefull you release the carp, even tho they're invasive.
Thank you I definitely try to respect the fish. Carp being invasive here is a common misconception, there’s really only one waterway here in Arizona where they’re encouraged to kill, but a lot of these places I fished in this video stock them for cleaning purposes. Thank you for watching!
Lmao those El Dorado Lakes got some big carp.
True that
Thank you! Inspired us to go down to Phoenix this weekend to try this challenge!
Heck yeah!!!! I’ll be in California doing the same challenge but for saltwater. Good luck y’all!
Love the fact I recognize most of these ponds 🫣🔥 gonna have to go hit them up
Especially that corner on ocotillo I didn’t know it had fish! 😂
Do it!! All kinds of cool stuff there. Thanks for watching!
Great video, I’ll be back for more
Thank you for watching!!! I appreciate it 🙏
Redbreast Talapia, a super species in South Africa to target in Tournaments. SUBSCRIBED
Oh that’s super neat I didn’t know that! Thanks for sharing!! And thank you for subscribing welcome to the channel 🙏
You forget to catch legendary channel catfish

Dope video, even better that someone has the Deathly Hallows symbol on the bridge 😂
Haha no kidding there’s all kinds of grafiti on that bridge 😂😂 thanks for watching!!
Very nice video & the editing is on point! You deserve more views
My hope was for this video to get 1,000 views so I’m already more blessed than I could even imagine! Thanks for watching!!
Very unique and interesting fishing content . This video comes in at the top 10% of fishing content on YT . While watching I thought " this guy doesn't even swear or use expletives ..well until you hooked the Red Ear . 😅 I would have used every swear word in the book if I hooked that beast . I really enjoyed your content .
Haha!!! Sometimes I can’t contain the excitement. I appreciate you watching!
Some incredible looking rivers and lakes, if I lived near those I dont think I'd stop fishing. Great vid mate.
I never do stop haha. Thanks for watching I appreciate your comment 🙏
This is one of the best fishing videos I've seen in a while
Thank you!! It took a lot of effort to make so I’m glad you enjoyed 🙏🙏
Actually though!!!
Great Video. Look for to you coming back down to Chicago.
Me too man!! Thanks for checking it out! 🙏
🙌🙌
Great video man just found you on my FYP and this will not be the last time I will watch ur channel
Heck yeah I appreciate it man!!! I actually just had another video drop about 15 minutes ago. A more chill video but content is content!
Lately I’ve been obsessed with freshwater fish living on tropical island chains, I may have a new one. 😂
Dang the saltwater fishing must be off the charts!
That’s was a beautiful video and the end hits some different notes
❤️❤️ I feel closer to her every time I fish
@@FishingWithPorter much love and respect to you Brotha keep doing what your doing it’s amazing
@@noahbrooks361 Thanks man!!!
@@FishingWithPorter anytime Brotha man keep your head high
This video was very relaxing 😎
Glad you enjoyed!!
For flatheads try the saltriver near the doversion dam north of Globe AZ. Big ones there. Live gills work best
Very cool thanks for the info!
So cool. Something I would totally try myself if I lived there.
It’s a lot of fun!!!
Great video keep at this man I can see your growth coming. Well edited and clearly you’re a passionate well put together fisherman.
Thank you so much!!!! I appreciate you watching. This is only the beginning 💪
Loved the video. Thats a dandy redear.
They’re wild! Caught a couple more today at the same spot both about that size. Thanks for watching!
Cool video man hope this blows up for you
It’s already blown up more than I could ever imagine. Thank you for watching!! 🙏❤️
This is my kind of video! Awesome stuff! I found your channel through Sean (Angling Spiders). I have done a few species challenges myself. We dont have the same diversity up north in Canada but still fun. I havent caught most of the fish you did in this vid! Cheers!
Heck yeah thanks for checking the channel out! Very different worlds for sure most of the stuff I caught here only survives in warm water and we rarely get below 40 degrees Fahrenheit here (although we get up to 120). Thanks for watching!
bro nice catch on that red-eared sunfish! That was a whopper!
Also cool to see this vid, I live in Florida now but I used to live in Tempe and Mesa and have been to Phoenix a bit so super cool to see someone fishing in the valley :D
Thanks man!! That’s awesome I wish I lived in Florida 😭😭😭 I’m so jealous. Getting some saltwater action first thing in the morning though!
I actually don't fish as I wanted to be a marine biologist and still love sea creatures. I wanna pet and hold the crabs and squid n stuff but yeah there is great fishing down here, yeah@@FishingWithPorter
This was a real fun video, and I enjoyed your edits. Fun to see a wide variety of fish caught.
@@JoelFishes thank you!! This vid took a long time to make for sure haha glad you enjoyed 🙏
I never thought I’d say this, but nice bread transitions 3:41 e
😂😂😂 i never thought I’d hear that either. Thanks for watching!
Man, what a great video! I’m from San Bernardino CA area, but go to Phoenix a lot. Thanks for the entertainment and inspiration to go out there and hook up with some of these species. Tight lines bro
Hey! I’m in California right now haha. Thanks for watching!
Dope video man, keep doing what you love
Thank you so much! I’ll be a fisherman til the day I die
Just found your videos today and loving them already
Thank you so much!!!
Nice video man. Sweet editing
Thank you so much!!!
Love these kind of multi-species videos. Super dope.
Thank you!!!
Great video! Just a suggestion from someone who has lost plenty of fish: when you use a net, aim at their face so they swim into the open mouth of the net, it looked like you were trying to scoop underneath the main portion of the fishes body when netting. If you scoop at their face they are much less likely to swim over or avoid the net.
True that! My buddy told me this last week after I almost lost his 10 pound koi 😂😂 I appreciate the info!!
You need to make this a series. I like this idea. Keep up the good content! 💯
Heck yeah I could do it in every state! Thanks for watching’
Really cool video! That’s the best fishing
Thank you for watching!!!
Hey Porter. We moved here from Denver 6 months ago and broke foot at beginning of fly fishing season so have been hitting the pond behind my house instead (your #2). Was going to put up pics, but can't here. Was going to say you might want to come back. Since I knew nothing of what lived in this pond I think I skunked out the first 7 times I fished it. Now, sport fish most days and when I'm up for it, cats. I've been pulling 7-10 lbs cats of here pretty much every day. Everyone should learn to fish and stoked you're loving it so far. I don't really want our area to get packed with people, but you seem like a solid guy so I was going to let you know there's much, much bigger fish here. (I use a size 2 octopus hook (safer for fish) with a snell knot on it). The bigger the hook, the bigger the fish. Keep posting and good luck!
thank you! I appreciate the info. I haven’t fished there in a while but I know people have been having success there lately! Thank you for watching 🙌
Great video 🔥 inspires me to make content around my hometown as well !
Do it!!!! Thank you for watching 🙏
Love the video man. Really enjoyed watching it
Thank you!!! Glad you enjoyed it 😎
Great video bud!
Thank you for watching!!!
Great watch!
Thank you so much!
Great video!
I’m from southern Ontario and I did a similar challenge last year , I landed 40 species in 10 days! Great work man!
@@fishinwithginger4588 sheeeesh that’s insane good stuff brother! I appreciate you watching 🙏
Great video man! Those hooksets were solid.
Thank you for watching!! I appreciate it haha
Holy bro, this is a short film bro you absolutely killed this! 😮
Thanks man I hope it was worth all the work 😂😂
Dam man I’ve lived here forever and hit all these spots I’m surprised I never passed ya. Awesome fishin brotha and it’s not easy out here
Im sure I’ll bump into you eventually!! Thanks for watching! It’s tough but it’s a ton of fun 🙏
Top quality content! Watched every minute of it! Keep it up you got so much potential bro !
I really appreciate that man thank you for your support 🙏❤️
Really cool video, man. I am glad that the TH-cam algorithm showed it to me. I have fished about half of your spots and they are all awesome spots for the species you were catching there. A lot of them hold way bigger ones like you were saying in your video. You spent a lot of time on the road in this challenge too. lol
Thank you! Yeah definitely just went for numbers in this one haha. I appreciate you watching 🙏
Living out the Stardew Valley life! Keep it up, great video man.
Heck yeah! Thanks man I appreciate you 🙏

Nice one mate, fishing over where you are sure seems cool, quite different to here in Australia! Good video dude!
Thank you!! Man I would love to fish in Australia. Especially saltwater. I appreciate you tuning in 🙏
Yeah there's tons of cool opportunities in the salt over here, definitely give it a crack someday if you can! Largemouth bass and others you guys have are definitely on my list too, cheers!@@FishingWithPorter
Love this idea! I might have to do something similar here in Ontario
Do it!!! It was super fun and obviously became very popular!
200k views man congratulations
What’s up man!! I know it’s crazy 😂😂 thanks to this video I’m monetized now
No way!!!!!! thats a dream come true im still chasing that monetization!!!! hell yes @@FishingWithPorter
You’ll get it soon enough 🔥🔥
New to the channel love the video! I was rooting for ya lol
Haha thanks man!! Welcome aboard!
Great video man, deserves all the attention it's getting. When you started 7 months ago, how did you decide which rod to buy? I am still looking for a great rod to focus on preditorial species in the Netherlands over here. We call them the 'snoek', 'snoekbaars' en 'karpers'.
It looks like you are using a great all around rod.
@@hanvanuffelen8546 thanks man I appreciate that! I honestly just went to Walmart and picked a random one, I had no idea if it would be good or not. You can’t go wrong with ugly sticks for all around fishing, that’s what both of my current rods are. I think in this video I used a Berkeley speed stick as well but I’ve broken like 6 of them lol
@@FishingWithPorter No problem. Thanks for the explanation. I should just go ahead and buy one.. really
@@hanvanuffelen8546 🙏🙏
Brilliant contents
Thank you!!
such a good vid, you deserve way more subs! but for now here is 1 extra.
Thank you so much!! I was at around 650 before this video uploaded so I’ve been so blessed to be where I am now. I just applied for TH-cam partnership this morning since this video made me elegible! Thanks for watching!!
Cool video dude! I’m in Phx too and grew up fishing these ponds and canals
Thanks man! Heck yeah, lots of cool stuff here for sure
I'm looking forward to do a species challenge myself.
Do it! It’s so fun
🔥🔥
🙌🙌
Cool video, I never realized there was so many types of fish in Phoenix, I'll have to bring my rod next time I go down there.
Phoenix is loaded with fish species! Thanks for watching 🙏
This is an amazing video man ive been looking for places to catch smallmouth and striper in the valley but i thought there was none
There’s plenty of striper canals in the Scottsdale area!! Thanks for watching!
W video, watchin from texas ♥
Thank you!! Much love from Arizona ❤️❤️
Subscribed! Awesome video
Thank you so much!! Welcome to the channel!
This was really a cool video 👍
Thanks quagmire!! Giggity
What a beautiful video
Thank you! ❤️❤️
Thanks for this video, so interesting! I live in southeast Alaska surrounded by water, but fascinating all the types of fish you can catch in the desert. I think the only species we have in common is the rainbow trout!
Thanks for watching!! Arizona is full of introduced fish since there aren’t many wild fish here, but we do have some pretty cool stuff. Alaska is awesome! Some day I want to fish in Alaska 🙏
You treat them with some respect. More important than one might think. Thank you for doing that :)
Thank you!! I try to be better about that every time I go out. I appreciate you watching 🙏
Good job!
Thank you!’
Awesome video!!! I'm planning on getting my first fishing license in April, so I've been watching lots of fishing videos ^.^
