    The last few years, I've been getting into the older comics mainly through the mighty marve lmasterworks and the occasional omnibus. I really love the classic stories and the artwork too. It's great to see an enthusiastic review like yours! I'll be sure to check out some more of your videos.

      thank you, glad you liked the omni videos. A lot of the older material is now available via the omnis / epics etc, and in a much better format than the original comics (though I still love those). Also, great to be able to read them in order

    I’ve been trying to hold out for the Taschen Hulk but it’s promised appearance has yet to be fulfilled. So, I’m going for vol 1 and 2 Marvel omnis instead and Herb Trimpe was a great artist for the Hulk.

      A Hulk Taschen book does sound a possible, hopefully the others have proved a success. I have bought a number of them. Still, probably be years before we get to the equivalent of the Hulk omni 1 and 2. I was not a fan of Herb Trimpe when I first bought the Hulk comics, I have warmed to his art though and appreciate it a lot more

      As much as I enjoy Trimpes Hulk it’s Hulk’s face drawn by Jack Kirby that does it for me. Hopefully the Taschens are doing well. Have bought them but no place to show them off, they’re just so large!

      @@jonathanpearman1052 Yes, the storage / display of the Taschen books (as with the Artist editions) is a problem. Hard enough to read them as well, often just put them on the bed and read them there. I've liked many of the hulk faces over the years, Ditko especially. Not probably for everyone.

    I love just how excited you are talking ahout these stories, it's contagious! I cant pick between this and the Iron Man omnibus, can only get one. But both look great, and your reviews did them justice!

      Yes, I can understand that, both are excellent and both are quite expensive. I've a certain range of omnis I (really) want and the Hulk 2 and Iron Man both fell into that. I know if I don't buy them now, they will probably come out again at some point but it was a long (long) wait for the Iron Man 1. I am still missing a number of omnis but sometimes the prices just tip into the 'too much' category but hopefully I will get them the next time around. Glad you find the videos of interest !

      @@AndrewBuckleBookReviews Thank you so much for the reply, these books are expensive but so cool! Is there any chance you recognized a print error in your Hulk Vol 1 Omnibus? I heard some newer Marvel omnibuses have some printing issues.

      I suspect that I didn't see any printing error, looked fine to me. It is possible and I know some check other versions or the originals but I've never gone through it with that kind of eye, so I can't say either way.
      I have had books where there is clearly an error with the page being repeated a few times, I think that was a Silver Surfer omni. Sometimes you note the page has been swapped as the story jumps in an odd way, as long as both pages exist it never worries. Annoying when a page just goes missing, especially the last page of a story

    I've mostly been reading manga for the past year so those colours look extra striking right now, lovely stuff.

      I agree, the omnis are pretty striking colour wise compared to a manga book !

      Yes, that would be a good one to re-release !

    If Joe Maneely hadn't died, I think Stan would've assigned him to do Iron Man in Tales of Suspense. Don Heck would be drawing back up fantasy stories, not Iron Man or the Avengers! On a side note, have you the book, the Art of the Simon and Kirby Studio put out by Abrams? It is amazing!

    • @AndrewBuckleBookReviews
      @AndrewBuckleBookReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it is an excellent book, as many are from Abrams. I think you are right, Joe Maneely would be great for Iron Man but I am certain he could have done many others as well, sadly we will never know. Looking forward to the Maneely book from Fantagraphics

    Can't go wrong with classic silver age Marvel, but I'm a fan of the Bill Mantlo run on Incredible Hulk

    • @AndrewBuckleBookReviews
      @AndrewBuckleBookReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, some fine work in that period as well, loved many of the stories. Always ones for the epic collections, mainly getting the silver age period ones in omni.
