Yep. my condenser fan quit. I saw the bypass relay kit you use and it was easy to troubleshoot. Pain in the ass to change but all is well now thanks to you. So.... a big thanks for making my life a little bit easier.
I have run into that same problem in lots of vehicles. It seems that the wires break due to the door opening and closing and breaking the wires from flexing back and forth. Loved your parts cannon. :-) Keep up the good work!
Omg the Scanner Danner “look away” had me rolling, please don’t stop these little things your doing to give the channel some comedic relief & I’m sure you will be one of the top auto repair channels on TH-cam, Scotty Kilmer ain’t got shit on The mech a nic 👍
I completely agree with your decision to charge for diagnostic time. Pro shops charge a routine 1 hour minimum, and clients who whine about that are better going elsewhere. It looks like you're busy enough to turn away clients who won't pay. When you rely on diagnoses done elsewhere you put your reputation at risk if their diagnosis is wrong.
Yes I have busy enough to turn down work and I do. Not all money is good money . Some people are ok with paying a fee up front some people rather go somewhere else...well good luck with that
That wiring issue for the power windows, What a nightmare. You have to laugh at the customers who turn up with an extra list of problems and think there's no extra cost involved. Great video and diagnostics.
Offer a "20 point comprehensive Checkup" with a flat rate, like $20. If nothing is found- it's FREE. I anything is found, it's $20 THEN the repair. Make a list, all in writing. That will save you.
I charge $25 for basic check up . If I don't find any problems I don't charge. If I do find a problem that $25 goes towards the repair if they decide to get it fixed with me.. I think it's pretty fair, given the area I live in.
My Dad had a TV shop back in the '70's people would drop off a set and ask for a diagnosis and then decline the repair. He then started to ask for a diagnostics fee, idiot people think someone can make a living spending all that time and not get a cent out of it.
Not all fans are designed like this . These are convenient because the resistors are right there . Only down side is you can see the resistors take a beating cause of there location
You will never see that Silverado customer again. Dirtbags trying to survive on a daily basis without spending one red cent on maintenance. I'm shocked they got an oil change. I bet it was over 10K miles and was dirty as hell.
Definitely old oil in it. She's not a fist time customer. I've worked for her plenty of other times but she Definitely doesn't do preventive maintenance. She waits till things actually break
Use a Digital Multimeter to ohm test each fan. Also- you could see dropouts of continuity by spinning the blades. The same with any DC motor- like a starter, can have "flat" places. Spin blade, it works. Watch fingers!
We all Have Wins, and Losses... Or at least that's what the RSS(Rainbow Six Siege) kids say nowadays lol Truthfully though, That wiring was a MESS!!!! Best to take your time(As you should with everything in life) and do it right the first time.. Thanks for another entertaining/informative video, Sir.
Honestly it's faster to just pull a relay and try my relay bypass tool . It's faster than booting up and connecting my scanner. Plus if the load doesn't turn on from my scanner I'd still have to check at the relay to see if I can actuate it from there .
If I was a mechanic I wouldnt give her the keys back unless those tie rods are fixed... Peoples lives are at risk ! If you lose her as a customer for looking out for her and others safety, so be it !
I can't hold peoples cars hostage but that lady had the nerve to keep asking how much she's able to drive the car. I kept telling her none! You shouldn't be driving! She just didn't understand me because she kept asking for a "estimate " of how long she can drive with the bad tie rods...again I said "you shouldn't be driving it at all like that "

Thank you. Just wanted to show people that nobody is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. As long as you find/fix the problem that's what's important and no doubt I'm on the right track with all those broken wires
You are right people think that diagnosing a problem for an hour shouldn't cost anything because you didn't fix it but, TIME IS MONEY!

Glad the video helped you. Nice work 👍
Ready, aim, fire the parts cannon! 😜 Those relay jumpers work good, nice video Jonathan!
They help the diag / testing process so much. Nice time saver. Sometimes even the parts Canon misses it's target lol

Lol yeah it's super common and I should have known better
The feels when you shoot the parts cannon and it actually works, tho.
🤣🤣I understand that aspect lol
I"M TELLING SCANNERDANNER!!!!! LOL
Had to say it when I saw you cover up his sticker.
Back to watching... LOL.
Nooooooo ! 😁
Thank u sir 👍

*Congratulations!*
🎉Volume 💯👍🏼
Not sure what that means lol
Strange- the Fan w/shroud on RA & other sites has no Ballast Resistor.
Good find on Amazn!
And it fit like a glove! Definitely a good find

funny they dont do that with a doctor but they do it with u they tell u well thats different lol
Exactly
Nice diagnostic work ! Electricals can be confusing. Especially if intermittent.
That's for sure!

Great detective work jon !! Just a question do all makes with fans have that resister like that ? Or just foreign models only ?

That's a valid test . I would try it but I tossed out the fans already. No denying the fans were bad though 👍

If you recommend that the car is not driven, GET IT IN WRITING. They could come back at you and sue you for not warning them. PEOPLE !!!
I need to do that but we had the conversation that she shouldn't be driving it over text and I have that conversation saved.
I still think the window wasn't going up bc the hampster was running in the wheel in one direction
😁😁
Yes it makes for a short boring video, but since you have a scanner, wouldn’t you try to turn the fans first before all the other testing?
