I agree with everything you said. I grew up on that music and got to see them in concert in early 80's. Best male vocalist of all time. Wish the original members would put their differences aside and go on last tour.
Same! 1983...I was 8 years old..now 48...all the family members and friends I have lost along the way 😪😪...Wish I could go back...time is precious...spend as much time as you can with the people you love cause you don't know what the next day may bring! It's not guaranteed!
If you're going to react to Journey live, you must do "Mother, Father" live in Houston 1981! It is absolutely phenomenal, and Steve's vocals are next level!
Definitely "Open Arms" next!!!! Another unbelievable power ballad. I was lucky enough to see them live in the late 70's and early 80's in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Love love love this song..... When I saw them, Steve stood directly in front of us and sang directly to us during a chunk of this song... Talk about going weak in the knees.🥰
You nailed it in six words.... Music that makes you feel something. Unlike so much of today's "music" which is hollow, empty.... soulless. I'll say it once again, Thank You God for allowing me to be a teenager in the 80s.
@@peggiebradley7434 I'm so sorry for your loss. My daughter lost her husband at 25, with a 16- month old son. I know how hard it was for her. May good bless you.
🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🌿🌿🎼 .. Steve Perry sings like today is his last day on Earth. The feeling flows from his soul to everyone who hears it. It is a magical band and legendary singer. You have much more goosebumps in your future Saeed. 🌟👣🌟
Perry's voice is so full of emotion, and this song highlights it. Beautiful song. I love your facial expressions when you hear something you like! Priceless!
Journey's live performances are better than the studio version, they were the hardest working/touring band of that era and sold-out arena's night after night. Pick any song from their "Live" in Houston 81' tour to start, they don't have a bad song! You are going to love your Journey journey! Steve Perry A.K.A "The Voice" - Vocals Neal Schon - Lead Guitar (Played with Santana as a teenager) Jonathan Cain - Keyboards (co-writer of many of their songs along with Steve P. and Neal S.) Ross Vallory - Bass Steve Smith - Drums
My father was a working musician for over 60 years. My mother would always say she "played second fiddle to a guitar" but i don't think she would have had it any other way 🎶🎵💚
Thank you so much for your fantatic reaction to "Faithully." It is mhy favourite Journey song. Steve Perry's voice is beautiful and he's so emotive and passionate. They've been my favourite band since 1978 and they have so many iconic, timeless songs. A few other songs of theirs that you might enjoy reacting to, are "Mother, Father" and "Open Arms," both live performances from their 1981 Escape Concert in Houston, Texas. Another stunning masterpiece is "Still They Ride," live performance fromt their 1983 Frontiers Tour in Japan. They have a huge catalogue of songs to choose from, so really, any one would be great to react to.
Jonathan Cain wrote this song and many others after joining the band. He wrote this for his wife, Tané Cain, about how tough it is on the family, being in a band on tour. Sadly, they later divorced. Jonathan was formerly the keyboardist for the Babys. The Babys had a lot of great songs, but they couldn’t get out of debt. Record Companies are pretty good at making sure that doesn’t happen very easily. Jonathan left the Babys and joined Journey in 1980 when then keyboardist, Gregg Rolie, departed the band. Jonathan was a major contributor instrumentally and especially as a songwriter. The Journey that we know today is a lot of the songs that Jonathan wrote or cowrote since his joining in 1980. Though Journey did have many great songs BEFORE Jonathan joined the band. Some of my favorites even. 🙂
Steve Perry's voice is so exceptional. You need to Check out Don't Stop Believing live from Houston, TX 1981. It will blow your mind! Love your reaction!
@EdithMaxim you're going to want to get anything with Steve Perry as their lead singer, which was between 1977 and 1996. Albums with Steve as lead singer: "Infinity", "Evolution", "Departure", "Captured" (Live album with hits from the first 3 listed albums), "Dream after Dream" (soundtrack to a Japanese movie of the same title and very different from their other stuff), "Escape", "Frontiers", "Raised on Radio", and "Trial by Fire". Journey also produced three albums prior to Steve Perry's arrival that were extremely good but very different; they were progressive rock/fusion. Gregg Rollie was the lead singer then (he also sang co-lead with Steve on "Infinity" and "Evolution"). After Steve Perry's departure from the group, they have had 3 lead singers: Steve Augeri, with whom they put out an album "Arrival" which was fairly good, Jeff Scott Scoto (touring only, no albums), and current frontman Arnel Pineda. They have put out I think 4 albums with Pineda, one of which was a rerelease of him covering Steve Perry's hits. Arnel is a very good singer and has kept Journey in the mix.
My favorite lines in this song..two strangers learn to fall in love again..I get the joy of rediscovering you…that is so real for a lot of people. A little context to that. My father was stationed in Thailand for two years leaving my mom to raise 3 kids. When he came back home he and my Mom had to reconnect. I learned later in my life that they went thru counseling so my father could learn to communicate better and learn to relinquish some decision making. They were happily married for almost 70 yrs. 👍
I'll tell you something that others have already told you as I could see: "Don't stop believing" live is as great as the studio version. You do have to check it out.😊
This is considered one of the best rock ballads ever. Not to mention Steve Perry's powerful voice. I think he came out with a solo album a few years ago. Separate Ways from Journey is another great song.
Beautiful song. So true. I spent 7 years in a rock band playing on the road. It was fun, exciting, gruelling and lonely. Fun fact the guy playing lead guitar was originally in Santana’s band before joining Journey.👍🎸🇨🇦🎶

I lived in San Francisco for a long time, so "When the Light Go Down in the City" is one of my favorites. Perry is from the Bay Area and wrote it about San Francisco. I also love "Open Arms" and "Who's Crying Now".
Absolutely makes u feel something! Growing up in the late 60’s, 70’s and 80’s was very magical! Pure talent! And Steve kills it every single time! Brings back such good memories for me.✌🏻😎
I thought every post-1980s born know "Don't Stop Believin'" from Glee! Anyway, they made a medley of Journey songs in the finale of season 1(the "Journey To Regionals Performance" video of the Glee Cast channel), comprised of "Faithfully", a mash-up of "Any Way You Want It" and "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'", and "Don't Stop Believin'". I think that was the best performance of the Glee cast in the whole 6 seasons.
Just discovering your channel ❤ Steve Perry, greatest voice we've ever been blessed to hear.. Open Arms Mother / Father Live in Houston 🎉🎉❤❤ Also, Send Her my Love, official video
Steve Perry is awesome. Their song Lights was written about SF. He is a Giants fan and would get up and dance whenever they played a Journey song. When the Giants were in the World Series in 2010, 2012 and 2014 Perry lead a singalong of Lights during the 7th inning stretch. Must have brought them good luck because the Giants won all three of those World Series.

Oh, my heart! This is one of my all time favorite songs! This song has a special place in my heart...a place in my heart that will always be reserved for a special certain someone. Years and miles seperate us but this song binds us.
Do a reaction to Journey with lead singer " Steve Perry " there Escape Tour Live in Houston 1981 they, sound even better live " Don't Stop Believin " Stone in Love " Girl Can't Help it " Open Arm's " Who's Crying Now " Mother Father " Escape " Stay Awhile " " Steve Perry " is called ( The Voice ) he is one of the best if not the Best Singer in Rock History. Steve Perry has his own songs ' O' Sherrie " it made it to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 " Foolish Heart " made it to No.18 on the Billboard hot 100.
My first CD was Journey. I saved up and got a CD player and one CD, which I played over and over for weeks until I could buy another one. They were a huge part of my teenage years and 20s. Their music takes me back and makes me so nostalgic. Steve Perry's voice is everything!
Fun Fact # 1 - This song was written by keyboardist Jonathan Cain, he was looking at his wife in the picture. He wrote this song for her who is now his ex. They divorced back in the mid-late 80's Fun Fact # 2 - This video was from Journey's 1983 documentary called 'Frontiers (the name of their album) & Beyond'. It's about life on the road, not only for the band, but for their road crew as well! You should react to that, it's really good! Also, other great Classic Journey songs to react to are ......... 'Send Her My Love, After The Fall, Edge Of The Blade, Escape, Still They Ride, Mother Father (live in Houston), Feelin That Way/Anytime, Just The Same, Winds Of March, Lights, Ask The Lonely, Girl Can't Help It, Message Of Love, Good Mornin' Girl, Wheel In The Sky (live from Houston or Oska or the official video), When You Love A Woman, Separate Ways (studio version because it's longer), The Party's Over, I'll Be Alright Without You, Why Can't This Night Go On Forever, Still She Cries and I think that's about it for now!!...lol...
Journey/Blondie was my first concert. Infinity Tour late 70s. Only detaiIs I remember were Deborah Harry running in place on stage during One Way or Another and how Journey's Feeling That Way sequed into Anytime like on the album. Loved the show and have seen over 200 since then.
There is a great video on YT of Nemophila doing a cover of Seperate Ways by Jouney. It's a side by side video. Really well done. Nemophila are a girl rock band from Japan
Just great and I like this song especially in this version, because I think the video is so brilliantly fitting, and with Steve's voice more than perfect. I usually prefer live performances, Journey with Steve Perry were just absolutely great live and they had so many good concerts. Especially “Escape”, but also the “Radio on Raised” tour was great, unfortunately without Steve Smith on drums.
The thing that’s great about watching you is that you really seem to get the lyrics? He can sing something like the joy of rediscovering you and you don’t like look at it like it’s a funny or a weak thing to say So many people, especially men think that admitting something like that makes some weak But it really makes them strong Always appreciate your insights God bless🙏
Actually …..one of the best summers of my life. Just graduated high school ….class of ‘83. The graduation parties were endless….the music…..well…what can I say. 🎵🎶
So many great ones! When You Love A Woman, Stone in Love, Mother Father, Its Just The Rain, It Could Have Been You, Girl Can’t Help It, I’ll Be Alright Without You, Walks Like A Lady…..sorry, I could name them all. Such a great time in my life ❤
Oh!, Steve Perry's voice is one of the best Rock voices ever, and I like this song a lot. I'm not sure if you has already reacted to "Don't Stop Believing", the best Journey's song, IMO, and one of my favorites of all times.
Great song! Definitely want to check out some of their live performances too.
Thanks for watching.
The thing that’s great about watching you is that you really seem to get the lyrics?
He can sing something like the joy of rediscovering you and you don’t like look at it like it’s a funny or a weak thing to say
So many people, especially men think that admitting something like that makes some weak
But it really makes them strong
Always appreciate your insights
God bless🙏
What a great song. Everything comes together on this one. Music, vocals and lyrics.
Thanks so much for watching.
Mother Father from the 1981 Houston live concert was unreal
This song came out in 1983 before summer began. . It sounded glorious to me back then.
Even more so now. 🎵🎶
Thanks for another beautiful reaction. ❤
Amazing song! Must have been a great summer. Thanks for watching.
Actually …..one of the best summers of my life. Just graduated high school ….class of ‘83. The graduation parties were endless….the music…..well…what can I say. 🎵🎶
❤️Another great treat for us Debby. Thanks Saeed
Beautiful song! Thanks for watching.
Now check out Mother Father. Live version from the concert in Houston
One of my favorite songs ❤
Amazing song! Thanks so much for watching!
So many great ones! When You Love A Woman, Stone in Love, Mother Father, Its Just The Rain, It Could Have Been You, Girl Can’t Help It, I’ll Be Alright Without You, Walks Like A Lady…..sorry, I could name them all. Such a great time in my life ❤
Thanks for sharing these.
The majority of 70’s music told a story. Great time to be a teenager.
If you like stories and words, you might consider Wheel in the Sky by Journey. The music is great and the lyrics are interesting to think about.
I do love stories. A lot! Thanks for watching and the recommendation.
The G.O.A.T..!
thanks
Loved your breakdown of the lyrics of this beautiful classic. You don't just "react", you really listen, very cool.
Thanks so much! Appreciate the kind words!
How have you not heard this song before it’s one of the most famous ballads in the world it’s only been around since the late 70s
Houston was their best venue. You'd be wise to pull live performances from the Houston venue.
Oh!, Steve Perry's voice is one of the best Rock voices ever, and I like this song a lot. I'm not sure if you has already reacted to "Don't Stop Believing", the best Journey's song, IMO, and one of my favorites of all times. Such a great week with "Heart", "Led Zeppelin" and now "Journey" 👌☺️. Best to you, see you next time 👋
Incredible song! I know Don't stop believin', but i will check out a live version. Its been an amazing week of discovering great music. Thanks for watching.
Loving touching squeezing a must......

This was footage from their " Frontiers and Beyond " documentary of their " Frontiers " album.
