Here's a band I haven't thought about for years. I loved the Association when I was younger! It's odd that they don't have as many pop culture reference, as some other bands of the time. They were huge! "Cherish" and "Windy", along with this one, were my favorites. The sublime harmonies was their style.

There was a CD released many years ago after this was released, with the great gospel singers of the last half of the century ,doing a selection of his gospel songs. It's called You Gotta Serve Somebody, it's one of my favorite gospel CDs. He had had a true born-again experience, not sure if he's still walking with Jesus, unfortunately

Thanks for reacting to this legendary performance. There are several duets with Judy from her TV show available on TH-cam, including with Lena Horn and Liza Minelli, Judy's daughter. You might also enjoy Judy doing "Over the Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz, "The Man that Got Away," either from her TV show or the movie, A Star Is Born, or another powerful performance doing "Old Man River," again, from her TV show.

This performance just makes me smile every time I come back to it, which is a lot. Barbra has sung with some of the greatest performers we`ve known, like Ray Charles and tony Bennett amongst the many but nothing compare to this, in my opinion. As good as it gets... and then some.

The whole album is pure brutal honesty. And it's doing something to me every time i listen to it. It grabs my heart and my soul and i feel somehow connected to John Lennon. It's a masterpiece top to bottom. You can go through the whole album or if you want the song that made me feel that the most, i would say listen to 'God'... the song i mean. :D

She sings a lot of French on this album and elsewhere. Probably my favorite is when she sings "Non C’est Rien" on her second TV Special, Color me Barbra. Btw, what do you think of her French? She's usually been highly praised for having not only very good French, but other languages as well. I think it's her impeccable ear for sound.
