Not enough men talk about being the victim’s of abuse.
My father was but it was not to be talked about ever.
Much praise to the men who do speak of it, abuse knows no gender.

Also worth a reminder that homosexual or even platonic relationships can turn abusive, as well.

I observed that the abuse is affecting as much men as women. I also was abused by my husband but after we broke up, physicly, mentally a'd financially. I am a strong woman but it did affected me and still does, whenever I sense abuse I run, one to avoid it but also as a way not to deal with it.

It just annoys me that whenever a man tries to talk about something like that, People just tell him to 'MAN UP' but in reality, like you said: Abuse knows no gender.

If a woman is abusing a man like in that one story where she punched him and repeatedly kicked him while he was down, I fully support the man giving her one swift punch to the face, nothing excessive but enough to tell her that it will not be tolerated. I hate that women get lighter sentences than men, esp over abuse and women can hit and scratch men and they can't defend themselves.

If your partner ever, _ever_ raises a hand against you or otherwise hurts you physically, you can and _should_ leave them right then and there. Even if they're a girl half your size, that's not an excuse.

@@josieteran7082 the partner of a domestic abuser is most in danger when they're attempting to leave. Abusers purposely isolate their victims, cut them off from friends and family, even control them medically and financially to keep them from leaving. Especially if kids and animals are involved, you could be tied to an abuser financially for YEARS if not in other ways. You're far more likely to be murdered while leaving an abusive relationship than you are while being in one. Signed, someone whose mom was in one for ten years, who had a friend from school be beaten to death at 23 by her 40 year old partner who had 3 kids in the house at the time, and whose mother's best friend in school was shot to death by her abusive boyfriend after she left

Looking back, I should have known my ex was...off. She changed her whole life trajectory for me. She lived in South Tampa and when I told her I was most likely going to CSUB (I lived in Los Angeles), she applied and got in too. From there it was downhill. It was great at first. She was kinky and the sex was really good (to this day, best I'd ever had). However, as things went on, she seemed to start treating me more like a possession than a person with autonomy and feelings. She started to track where I was going and followed me everywhere when she wasn't in class. I was the shy loner type so she had me 100% convinced that if I left her, I'd be alone well into my 40s if not forever. She came from money so she was supporting us financially since I was a full time student and so I felt trapped. I learned that she cheated on me with her roommate whenever I didn't want to have sex. I tried to justify it to myself as "they're both girls so it's not really cheating."
The entire time we were together, she only did one good thing for me. A classmate of ours threw a party, got drunk (unbeknownst to me since she hid it well), and when she drove me home cuz my ex-gf left early without me, she pushed me into my room and closed the door saying that if I didn't have sex with her, she'd tell everyone I raped her. So she raped me and when my ex found out, she beat the hell out of her. That was the only good thing my ex did and she only did it because "you're my property and no one can do that to you without my permission."

The #1 thing she had to explain was that you cant kick someone out, aside from abuse, of the apartment they pay for. I have a relative with a very, very destructive ideal in his head. He likes 'a woman who is a challenge.' So rather than respond to an attractive, kind woman who likes him he goes for the really dismissive, snotty, always have to be the princess types. He's married a couple and they're both foul. He's now doubly divorced. And what's he found - another impossible woman 'who's a challenge.' It's sad because he might have been happy instead his life is bashing from one addiction to the next.

My mom was married to a guy who was in military (very late 60s to mid 70s and in the UK) who was a complete douche bag, he flung her out of the apartment window (2nd/3rd floor) and by sheer luck she landed on her feet. She had my sister and brother with him and I don't know what he did to them. Wasn't told if that happened or not. My mom and siblings told me that he died during a operation. My mom met and married my dad when he was stationed in the UK a few years later.

Dated a girl my senior year of high school. About a year. Everything was fine for around 8 months, then she started getting jealous, accusing me of cheating on her with girls I talked to just because they were in my classes, never out of school. I started bringing her to my friends houses with me. A few times she said she thinks she wants to break up, I ask why and she says nevermind. Never would talk about it. One day I'm hanging out with a friend, she shows up at my house and tells me she cheated on me with her abusive ex that she always said was just a friend. Find out from her friend of 8 years the only reason I was told was because her friend threatened to tell me if she didn't. We talk, I stupidly decide lets see if we can work through it. Prom comes around, she said she can't go because her family can't afford it(her family all lived in one trailer in compton other than her and her mom who only had a house because of inheritance) so I paid almost 800 dollars for a dress and her hair and naills and what not plus my suit rental. Day of prom I call her to see when she wanted me to pick her up. Get a bunch of excuses about wanting to take photos with girl friends. Find out from friend she is with a big group of people including guys. Says to meet her at prom outside, okay wtf. I get there, she won't answer her phone. Wait outside for about 2 hours only for her to call me and tell me shes been inside the whole time. Go inside, spend 5 minutes in there, her and her friends start making up lies calling me abusive, I left right here, talked to her mom for a bit (her mom loved me) and she said sorry, I don't know why she is so shitty. Turns out she was telling everyone, my friends I was abusive and stalking her and wouldn't leave her alone all the while she would invite me over, want to cuddle etc. I lost everyone that day when I was the one being hit, screamed at, used financially. There was a lot more in there she did too, but too much written already. Years later, she tries to match me on dating apps all the time even though I block her, meaning she makes new accounts. She put on a ton of weight, looks like crap on top of it and all she does is drink every day at a country bar and go home with random dudes each time. One time I went with a friend that hung out in the same group as her. My ex pulled said friend aside and asked her why she would bring me (keep in mind this is 5 years of not seeing each other) and she starts telling the same lies. Next time i went and she was there, I got jumped for no reason by the Mongols (violent biker gang) while standing in the back corner talking to friends and turns out she was friends with the one who started it. I worked a second job for a friends tow company for extra income.. One day my buddy calls me up and tells me to guess who's car he is towing. He tells me its my ex and he only knew because somehow, she brought me up in conversation and was again telling the same lies (6 years after we stopped dating)

My current fiance has a restraining order against his ex wife. He was in the military and she of course cheated frequently. They quickly divorced after their first child. She was physically abusive with him to the point there are police records of her stabbing him. Some drugs and many bad relationships later his ex wife lost custody of the child and she now lives with us full time. The child stated she had some abuse issues in the home. At first we suspected the boyfriends, with the signs she was showing. Years go by and the awkward visitation exchanges become violent and we had to have police present during the drop off and pick up. Twice I have had to grab the kid and run while he took the brunt of what was happening or call the cops in. He refuses to be alone with her anywhere and I don't blame him. One weekend the kid discloses sexual abuse from her mom. Literally her mom doing things to her and her boyfriends occasionally participating. So of course we call in an investigation. His ex calls the cops on us, when the cops refuse to take the 'contempt' report she drives to our house and rammed our 200lbs gate until it broke down. Backed out of our driveway to park literally in the middle of the street and walk back up to our house. She gets halfway through the yard before he came outside and started calling the cops. She wasn't charged with anything. The cops showed up gave us a report and told us to come back the following week. Had no idea for what. I'll never forget talking a 9 year old down telling her she didn't have to be afraid of her own mother trying to break into our house or coming to get her for talking about the ways she hurt her. This was on a Friday, Wednesday we came back to the station and the cops asked if we'd like to file a restraining order. We got it granted in 30 minutes. The restraining order is only effective for the adults due to a visitation order. She is not to be anywhere near either of us but the kid still has to do supervised visits until the state makes a decision in January. My dudes had three ex's two of them were ex wives but none of them have caused anything like this one. One of them who he has a son with, was diagnosed with cancer. We are all friends and frequently vacation with her and her husband. The other he hasn't heard from or seen in years so 🤷. Two ex wives one woman he had a kid with and one restraining order later. Sorry that was long and this probably sounds insane but I swear to God he's worth all of it. ❤️

(This is going to seem like a rant lol, it's just an in depth explanation not a rant)
These are all pretty horrible BUT one thing... Ladies... there's a good chance that many of your (even "platonic") male friends would get involved with you if asked even if you're in a relationship. I've met very few guys that could have a strictly platonic relationship with a woman without having some kind of crush or feelings for them, or without trying to experiment with them at least once. Especially if there's a sense of weakness, a spot in the armor where they can justify it to themselves
We are still animals. Often times it isn't that we don't trust *you*, it's that we know close to 50% of the world would actively ruin the relationship if they were put in the right position. At that point youd have to "pitch a perfect game" so to speak.
I think most guys here know of a guy who was "Strictly gay" until their female best friend became single and then suddenly decided to flip.
Not all guys are like this, some guys have a high enough self esteem and already have their needs met elsewhere and won't try it out of respect for the relationship or lack of personal interest.
Some guys don't have enough self esteem to try making a move.
But most of them have thought or do think about it. It NEVER justifies abuse, far from it. The two are separate concepts. Fear can be rooted in the rational without a response being justifiable.
[Personal note, I generally was the guy asking women to give buddies of mine/their SO a chance and to communicate their needs in their relationships.]

That's literally what psychosis is, behaving erratically. So fuck that, call it what is: PSYCHO.

@@thegayestgoth not necessarily. “Erratic behavior” can be mild as ADD.

So uhh, funny story, something happened to me but it obviously wasn't serious because i still was a small kid. Anyway it happened on Roblooooox... (Yeah this is lame)
To sum it up, she said i was the only thing she loved more than everything and everyone, wanted me to come to her house so we could make a stronger relationship (I am bilingual so that meant i was far away from her) and that supposedly his "ex' was being abusive and he punched her in the face, i was friends with her "ex" who just was a friend of her, i knew him well and was a really nice guy, he speaked Spanish and he didn't knew English so that's something, eventually she wanted to break up because i was being nice to other girls AND BOYS and she felt i was cheating on her (Reminder this all happened in a virtual world) and yadda yadda i just blocked her
