    This is, by far, the most useful channel strip plugin tutorial that I have watched. It actually explains things in enough detail that I can actually gain information from it without being so long winded and subjectively opinionated that I get bored like many TH-cam channels out there. I don't own the brainworx SSL strips, but I feel like I learned a lot that will be useful with the ones I do have. (bx console N and bx console Focusrite sc).

    This is such an absurdly well done tutorial. Plugin alliance should just do all of their customers a favor and put a direct link to this video from their 4000 G and E product pages.

    Thank you Brian, I am sincerely grateful for the time you have taken to compose this information. I have watched 100's of hours of TH-cam tutorials and this is by far the most clearly presented information regarding EQ, filters, compression, limiting, gates, expanding, side chaining and console setup that I have ever seen. This information is not just applicable to Consoles it is fundamental to the understanding of the elements of mixing and production. Everyone who wants to mix and produce music should watch this video. Thanks again mate your video has been invaluable to my understanding of these elements. Many blessings ✊🏽

  • @josepe217

    Thank you very much. The content es excellent. I came just beacuse I wanted to learn how to use the SSL but I just about to watch a masterclass in compression, filters, eq & more. Congratulation! Very well explained, super usefull info, direct and clear. At the end of the video you talked about where should be placed the SSL on the track, in what order put it in. By nature, in the analog world this would be the scenario: The source of the sound is a human voice or someone playing an instrument. Once played, that signal travel across the wire directly to the console SSL. In the case of the instruments, for example a guitar, once played the signal go first to the amp, and then maybe some pedals with others effects. And now, go to the console SSL. At that point now we have the signal living in the SSL, now we can manipulate it. Then start the chain of process; Add your EQ, sculp, compress & more effects, until finish with the last one, the limiter. So, If we want the workflow sound of the hardware-analog-real-world, this is the way.

    I think it’s worth mentioning that if you don’t have the EQ active then you don’t get any variable THD - odd harmonics are generated in the EQ block.
    Also, the compressor section generates second harmonic distortion when engaged but the level of this isn’t effected by the THD knob.
    If neither the compressor or eq is engaged then the channel doesn’t generate any harmonics.
    Great plugin.

      I agree with you, nobody has made a review with a simple mono null test with two different channels ..

    • @Nathankaye
      @Nathankaye 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tommaso Canazza yes. They have. I’ve seen another channel do a null test on all the brainworx ssl consoles including the 9000J.

    • @duncanmcneill7088
      @duncanmcneill7088 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure a null test between different channels would be that enlightening. What I did was test with white noise and Voxengo Span to see how the TMT changes the eq frequency, q and gain. Having slight differences between left and right eq on a stereo channel produces some subtle width enhancement.
