I never really thought about it before - this SSL channel strip has practically everything you need, all in one place. Some of this, and maybe a little reverb, and you're golden!
I love the 4000 but also love the discernible difference with the 9000 as well for tracks I want a little more transparent and sound of perceived higher headroom. I got a deal on the Waves SSL channel and it get a lot of play, especially on guitars and drums.
Such a nice review, with normal speech and voice, but music..can't call it music. Just had to comment because almost all reviews of plugins are with horrible examples. I don't care is it garbage or a high-quality garbage - garbage is garbage. Okay, gross people, you can attack me after this...i don't care: this are my tastes and opinions, that have logical and practical foundations. SSL is nice. I like that fooling around with them bring unexpected results.
Mixing is so subjective... with this style of music, the artist and producer may be going for more of a lo-fi sound that is reminiscent of independent punk albums of the '80s and '90s. The mix isn't to my personal taste, but I also don't typically listen to this style of music. I'm not getting the impression the presenter is out of his depth by any means -- judging by his work environment, I assume he's not working out out of a professional studio, but I think his knowledge and explanation of the SSL 4000 plugin is good info, much of which I wasn't previously aware of.
I really love the ssl 9000J and the second place one to me would be the SSL 4000 G

Nicely done man. I going to see if I can pick up one of these plugins on mega sale this year! It does it all
Thanks man! If you happen to have a subscription to Slate Digital, they include all of SSL’s plugins as well!
Great video! Mix sounds spot on as well. Thanks!
thanks so much for watching!
it would be great if you released the stems, I'd love to have a go at mixing it
I would love to do something like that! Unfortunately I can’t do it with this song but I definitely want to make multitracks available in the future.
