I'm blown away by this tutorial! You are a gentleman and a scholar! I just bought this plug-in and was checking TH-cam for videos on how to use it! Thank you!
I use the SSL 4000 E for about one year now. Thanks to your tutorial I learned how to use it even better (speaking of second release and hyst). I am very grateful for your work
Thanks for the walkthrough! I really appreciated how you explained the different sections and when to use them. What I really enjoyed was learning how compression and expanding work. The way you explained it (with the analyzers) really helped explain how compression/expanding works. I've been watching videos on compression but the way you showed it really answered my questions.
while it is a review of the Bx SSL4000E we also have a real course on the management of sound dynamics, and I really do appreciate this one ... Really really helpfull, feel like I got a really good course on this point.
Thanks man, I am still fine tuning the way to cover all of this. I plan the videos Like a course about it, not a review. So your comment is pretty accurate. Thanks for the comment.
It is a very good explanation. Rick Snomans book, which everyone should read wether your an orch dork or a edm producer or an aspiring engineer, he stated the ear for dynamics is the last thing to develop, and takes the longest. Being 40 now and starting music around 22 years ago, I’d say that’s so incredibly true. I also was really diving in to dynamics during the great loudness war, something I’ve heard engineers really look back with a negative notion. That whole pervading attitude towards production really skewed my understanding and it took a very long time to learn dynamics, and I still have a long way to go. I’m ok though I don’t mind paying a mastering engineer, especially in this golden age of gig economy being there within the recording industry right when it was needed (the pandemic shut down would have killed abbey road (2.0) if not for them taking in jobs from online.
Mi sono iscritto al tuo canale … questa è la migliore spiegazione dell ssl canale e della compressione che ho visto in tutta la rete da me conosciuta Hai fatto un lavoro grandioso ….complimenti sinceri
Your tutorials are incredible. Thanks so much for taking the time! I'm wondering how you are able to see the effect of the curves on a spectrum graph like this? I'm using Ableton for sketching out projects, and I can't find anything that will visually show me what adjustments are doing. Whatever this is is very useful for learning!
i like to use this plugin to make an SSL "board" from my orig. Reaper mixer having 72 "different" channels to lay with makes this idea ALMOST limitless
One of the greatest plug-in videos I’ve ever seen. Question what is that blue graphic window that shows what the eq is doing? Is that in the plug-in or something else?
Thanks man, I appreciate you comment :). That is called plugin doctor..... The one where I show you the "waves" is called wave observer. Thanks for the comment.
@@XNBeatsMusic Thanks so much. I downloaded the demo of the plugin doctor but what trying to load the bx plugin into slot one it says it's not formatted for the plugin. Are you using this in stand alone? Thanks
@@jameslugo hello. Nop, i just have the plugin alliance plugins, and load them into plugin doctor. It works stand alone or inside the DAW as a VST. Never had that "formatted" message, super weird.
@@XNBeatsMusic it says something to the effect that the plug-in won’t work in PD. I have the plug-in alliance bx ssl. How do you load it into PD? Do you just click on the slot 1 or 2? Sorry for all the questions. There’s no info I can find how to do this. Thanks
When I open SSL 4000 E everything works well but soon as I close the plugin I no longer get any signal, I open it again sound is back..... What could be the issue?
Been searching trying to find out if there is an optimum input gain for the plug in, or if it was designed around a specific input level. There are a lot of great presets and would prefer to know if they were made with specific input in mind?...anyone?..... Thx for a great vid
The J sounds much cleaner but in a digital way. If you want a crystal clean digital signal then go for the 9000J . I found myself always always always going back to the 4000E it sounds so authentic and I love the THD DRIVE knob . In my opinion there is nothing better than this channel strip!

Unbelievable tutorial. So in depth. I can't even imagine understanding any of this without those monitoring visualizations. Excellent work. Thank you.

I just bought this thing. It was on sale and everybody seems to love it. But I don’t know how to use it. This fantastic tutorial will help me a lot!

Thus is really good!!
Cool tutorial!!! Thx what DAW are you using?
Thanks !! It's Bitwig. I use for "modern" productions. For mixing, acoustic, rock, metal I use Studio one.
Prezioso!

Can you please tell me what waveform plugin/screen you are using in this video?
Great tutorial, what tool are you using to model the wave forms?

What tool do you use to create the reference curve?
I think he said it in the beginning. The curve was plug-in doctor.
Seemed like release 2 is the knee basically
Does this sound better than ssl 9000J
