  • It’s time to head south to the Dalmatian Coast to Split, Croatia!!
At our hotel, Andrija who works the front desk offered to take us to Split, and also agreed to take us sightseeing along the way! Because of the pandemic, there was only one bus to Split per day, and it didn’t leave until after 2pm. Additionally, it would take over 6 hours and we would have lost the entire first day in Split. 1:12
The journey to Split, Croatia is unique, in that the climate changes once you pass through the tunnel to the coastline! The temperature immediately got warmer and the climate became much drier. 2:07
Andrija took us to a lookout to see the city of Skradin, and then onward to a lookout of Trogir. Both views were on the way to Split, and both were worth a stop. 4:22
Once we arrived at our AirBNB, Paige and I decided to walk to the Riva Promenade to explore the shore, and it did NOT disappoint! I can imagine in normal times, the promenade here in Split, Croatia would have been bustling with people. The views are stunning! 8:10
We walked all the way to the Eastern part of the promenade where we explored the options for leaving Split for one day to go to Hvar Island. 10:13
We ended the day at a delicious dinner at Basta Restaurant, which was recommended by Igor, who ran out AirBNB. It was far and away the most expensive restaurant that we had eaten at to this point. 11:46
I want to give a special thanks to the real MVP--Andrija who really went out of his way for us and could not have been more enjoyable to have along-if you’re reading, thank you again!

Truth! Croatia has so much to offer. We spent more time there than any of the other countries. I will definitely go back, and travel beyond from there to Montenegro, which we missed this journey. :-)

Being in Split you didn't see Diocletian's Palace and the oldest Roman Catholic church in the world 1800 years old and sphinxes 4000 years old from Egypt ... right there behind you in the city center..If you rented a car in a rental car, it would cost you less ... now that it is not the season, it can be rented for 15-18 dollars a day, especially diesel, which consumes much less fuel ... and it is cheaper.
