    Yes, the smell is similar to rotten eggs, but it's not like the sea is polluted, it's Split, especially Diklecian's palace is located on natural sulfur, there are healing baths under the palace, but very few people know that such a place exists, and especially that it is located close to market, so you don't have any intruders like flies, mosquitoes, wasps, bees, etc. Greetings from Split

    • @MaxandSidney
      @MaxandSidney  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ahh, that's interesting! That makes sense now. We will have to try the healing baths next time. You are right, we had no idea they existed!

      I'm sorry, but this gentleman or lady has told you a bunch of bs. The Adriatic on the Croatian side is a beautiful sea because the Mediterranean Gulf current that flows along their side of the Adriatic is warm and brings with it many fish and takes the garbage away up to Venice. But Split has a location over a peninsula, and so the garbage gets stuck, plus for centuries the locals just dumped their sewage and garbage into the Adriatic Sea. So because of the inlet, this part of the Adriatic doesn't get as much of the current washing the garbage away as a gift to the Italians. It is then added to by the industry of Northern Italy until it clears and then again gets stuck by the Termoli peninsula. So the region that is best for sea-side vacationing is Makarska Riviera, Neretva-Dubrovnik County, and then Zadar north west, and the islands, and also Montenegro. The Split area is a definite "skip" if you're looking for sea-side relaxation.

    Hello, your video was on start page when i opened yt today so I decided to watch because of cool thumbnail and I think you are first to mention our drink Pipi, nobody else mentioned it in traveling videos I've watched so far. Thank you for making a positive video about my country. We will have Croatian Kuna till january 2023, after that we are getting Euro with our own Euro coins. In first two weeks of 2023 we will have both Kunas and Euros ongoing, will be able to pay with both but change will be strickly in Euros. First 6 months of 2023, it will be possible to exchange Kuna to Euro in banks and similar free of change, after that still will be possible to exchange but they will have the right to charge a fee.

    Karlovac beer is the Croatian name for Heineken
    Heineken bought the brewery and to everyone's surprise in Europe, did not shut down the local brand,
    which is logical because they hold almost half of the beer market in Croatia.

    We have really great and sweet figs in India. The proper way to eat is wash it ( skin may be contaminated ) , and then open it and see inside. It's important becoz many a times it has small worms. If there is nothing moving inside, put the whole thing in mouth. It's delicious. ❤

    The wine thing, I was in Trogir & Split.
    My entire adult life I never liked wine, I just don't like the taste I've tried many times and just no.. I don't like it.
    Till I visited Trogir, I was staying with a lovely couple whom made their own white (Pošip) wine. In just a week I drank 4 bottles and I liked it a lot.
    So even if you don't like wine in general like me, do give it a try in Croatia! It's very different from the wines you find in your local supermarket.

    Fig newtons are made of dried figs, and a dried fig is to a fresh fig what a raisin is to a grape, ie totally different. Fig newton, made by Nabisco, i think, is one of the most natural cookie type products and is totally a great product that can be enjoyed by everyone - in comparison with chocolate chip or oreo or any of those sugar only all processed cookies. Try not to knock down wholesome, old recipe products made in the USA in union factories where people make a decent wage, especially when you havent had them for many years, would you?

    All Croatia wines are good. Dingač is the best wine in the world. Pipi means wee. One "pi" could be translated to "drink it". So it means drink it drink it. And also it reffers to children private parts. And yes - wee. And PIPI is just a name.
    "10kn is acctualy less than a dollar" no. For most of Kuna history, 1$ was 4.4kn. So it was always worth more than 2$. Last year b4 euro inflation hit, and 1$ was 6.6kn
    Pašticada and mussels was great choice. Probably best dalmatian dish.
