1988-1994 c/k prolock repair or replace starter disable theft deterrent part 1

Ran into this on my dads dakota. Would not crank sometimes starter relay wasn`t getting the control voltage put in a new ignition switch. Then i seen the boot to the prolock thing kicked back. Didnt know the name of it but my f-150 has one.

Is it bad to take it off all the time this thing actually helps me since my neighborhood is pretty good .
