Yes I used to love watching him whiz that ball from right field he had a strong arm and was a pretty good outfielder. But everyone focused on some errors and said he was a bad fielder.

No one had the style and flair of Reggie, before or since. I was watching the all star game when he hit that laser beam off Doc Ellis. I was an A's fan. My dad was watching from his recliner. I told him Jackson was goin yard. I knew what kind of pitching he destroyed and what Ellis was throwing was like filet mignon. If it hadn't hit the transformer on the roof of Tiger Stadium it might still be travelling today.

I was 16 years old when my dad took us on a holiday to the US from Europe in 1981. Huge fans that we were of Reggie, we simply had to watch the Yankees play. At the end of the game, we hung around the players' exit of the old Bronx Stadium, aching to catch one more glimpse of Mr. October. We waited for hours. In fact, it was night by the time his Corniche appeared through the gate, Reggie behind the wheel. What a thrill, all the kids went wild! Alas, he didn't wave, nod, honk or in any way acknowledge the mostly teenage boys and girls there. Reggie hit the gas and, poof, he was gone, in literally, a few seconds, lol. Of course there were no more cabs by then,; my dad and I ended up potential robber bait for an hour or so. If it hadn't been for this reporter who managed to snare an errant cab right in front of us, which he then offered to share, we probably would have still been roaming the Bronx now. But there's a sting in this story's tail, because that game was the second of a double-header and we'd also gone to the first game the day before. Except, on that day, New York was so hot that my mum passed out in the stands. She told us later that night, when we were back at our hotel, that whilst regaining consciousness from her fainting spell, the ambulance chaps were wheeling her gurney through the bowels of Yankee Stadium, when suddenly the entire Yankees team filed right passed her! Including Reggie! She said she could have touched them. What are the odds of that happening? But yeah, I guess that was enough awesomeness for our family, hehe. Good times.

It showed too, that his numbers just weren't there and the game just passed him by. I would of gone 2 more years if I were Steinbrenner and offered him a resign for only 2 more years. Reggie wouldn't sign for 2 years as a Yankee. I can understand how he felt as a player, to try to get a 5 year million dollar contract. If I was Reggie, I would of signed with the Angels too. The Yankees weren't going anywhere that year. If it was a playoff game that meant something, Ronnie wouldn't of thrown that pitch. Look at the video again. Both of them knew what that meant. They were sending Big George a message!
Yankees weren't going to win in 1982. Reggie might have made a different in 1983. 1984 wasn't an issue because Detroit started like 34-4. In 1985 and 1986 the Yankees were one starting pitcher short. By 1987 he was at the end of his career. So if he had resigned for five more years the Yankees might have made the post-season once.

Yankees weren't going to win in 1982. Reggie might have made a different in 1983. 1984 wasn't an issue because Detroit started like 34-4. In 1985 and 1986 the Yankees were one starting pitcher short. By 1987 he was at the end of his career. So if he had resigned for five more years the Yankees might have made the post-season once.
